I went after work on a Friday and it wasn't crowded. This is a family owned restaurant and the people were very kind and friendly. I ordered the Gorkhali Chicken Medium Spicy. It was delicious. The portion size was large and is served with white rice. The food came out quick. I am looking forward to trying other things on the menu. read more

This place is soooo AMAZING! It's kind of small portioned but it's delicious. It's Asian fusion and I didn't know what to expect but was pleasantly surprised! It's reasonably priced and I've been twice now. First, I got the chicken and shrimp chow Mein and the second time I ordered the shrimp fried rice with yum yum sauce and it's absolutely wonderful. I was excited to try this place. My favorite food is Thai. My picture descriptions say it all. The one word I would use to describe this place is FLAVORLESS. Thai Tea was embarrassing watered down milk. No tea flavor. The Coconut Soup was extremely thin watered down milk as well. NO flavor!!!! All you taste in the Gorkhali Chicken is spice....just hot spice but the flavor is muddled. Horrible, flavorless embarrassment of a Thai/Asian type restaurant. I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant. I have been here several times, and it has become one of my favorite places. The owner and wait staff are very friendly, and the food is outstanding. I've enjoyed everything I have tried. If someone in your party wants Asian and the other says Indian , here is your spot! I want everything on the menu and it's hard to decide what to order. My party tried momo, fried rice, drunken noodles with chicken and Szechuan noodles. The food is cooked to order and arrives hot and fresh at the table. My experience with spicy here is that medium is actually pretty much like other places version of Hot. Lots of flavor and so delicious. There is a bar so you can do drinks if you like. I just moved to Birmingham and got the least warm of welcomes at this place. I came on a Sunday around 8:15pm with my mother. The posted closing time on the restaurant door and online was 9pm. When we arrived, they had already closed off seating. We were told we would have to order take out, which we did. 10 minutes later, a group of four men come in and are immediately seated. We were told the kitchen closed at 8:30, why were they seated so close to "closing time" and we were not??? It was not only incredibly misogynistic, it was simply rude. When we got our food we kindly voiced our issue to the bartender who was also very rude and dismissive. 1) If you're going to say you close at 9pm, stay open until 9 or update your closing time. 2) seat everyone, or seat no one. read more

We have eaten here three times in the past, and each time it was really good. It had been 6 months since we last ordered food and were excited when we were downtown to have it again. Sadly, it was a complete bust. The calamari had zero seasoning and the sauce was in the tiniest container and tasted like it came straight from the grocery store. Only time i didn't finish an order of calamari. My wife's kimchi fried rice was decent but came with a grand total of 5 pieces of kimchi. How a bowl of basic fried rice and 5 pieces of kimchi cost $10 is beyond me. There were no other veggies or meat. My wife said Trader Joe's microwave meals are better. Lastly my tofu curry was meh. The tofu was actually pretty good. But the flavor left a lot to be desired and the rice tasted over cooked. Maybe i just caught them on an off day. All in all, it was the worst $40 I've spent on restaurant food in years. read more

Returned to Yummefy for lunch recently and was not disappointed! Got the tikka masala chicken and chicken fried rice, it was delicious! Really fortunate to have this spot nearby. They also started serving bubble tea, I ordered the Brown Sugar bubble tea and it was amazing!! Perfect amount of sweetness. This is a great spot for any meal, but I especially love the lunch specials. Such a great deal, and leftovers the next day or two are always yummy. Just nasty...WAY too heavy on the curry in the pot-stickers, the "pork chowmein" was greasy nasty Asian spaghetti with bits of charred pork fat in a ketchup based sauce, and they completely didn't include the wings we ordered and paid for in the takeout bag. Yummefy would be great for someone who enjoys Thai and Nepalese food. However, I discovered I am not one. I had the dragon tofu and the tofu was quite soft and heavily seasoned. This location does not currently have any inside seating due to Covid-19, so I ordered from their website. They were reasonably fast and all of the employees wore masks. There wasn't much room for people to wait on their orders so I imagine it gets crowded pretty quickly. Overall, the restaurant seems to be following covid precautions, just not my cup of tea. read more

I've admittedly only been here once, but I doubt I'll ever go back. For one, I don't know what kind of food this is supposed to be. Looking at the names of the dishes, you see a mix of Indian, Chinese, Korean, and Nepali-sounding dishes, but i don't get any of those cuisines' characteristic flavors (went with a group of 10 or so and we passed around). I was born in Korea, and I've eaten and cooked many different types of Asian cuisine, and i just felt like this was Americanized 'pan-Asian' food, which I don't like the idea of-- it's very mall food court. Asia is very diverse in terms of its cuisine, and I think it's hard to successfully fuse them (especially since this doesn't seem to be a fusion concept, it's more just a lack of focus). What is "Himalayan chicken"? And why is it served with kimchi? The Himalayas are closer to the Mediterranean than to Korea. You'd never serve grape leaves with paneer-- just very strange. The dish itself was just ok. It was spicy, but really just hot without being especially flavorful. The place is reasonably priced given the large portions, but I think it needs to focus on a cuisine. read more

My first time ordering from Yummefy. Ordered Pad Thai and Mo Mo Vegetable. This cuisine is one of my favorites: Asian. Unfortunately, the pictures were better than the final product. The Pad Thai was generally disappointing. No real flavors. No detectable peanuts, no tang of the lemon or lime, and the noodles were overcooked and uninspiring. The Mo Mo was also disappointing since I believe the order was given to us by mistake: tasted like it was the Chicken Mo Mo rather than the Vegetable we ordered. However, the people were very nice on both the phone and in person. The takeout order was ready promptly and was nice & hot. The menu has a wide selection of Asian dishes. We found this little gem on the way home from a long vacation drive. We were hungry, it was late, and this place was perfection. This place had the perfect mix of normal asian food with odd things we've never tried before so we ordered a ton of food. The food did not disappoint and treated our tastebud to new flavor profile not experienced before and that is rare as we always seek to try new and odd places. Must try the MOMo if you haven't!
