There are acres of blueberries growing in neat rows, and they're full of fruit. You enter the farm, park in a grassy field, grab a bucket at a table by the orchard, and head out to pick. The helpful people who give you the buckets tell you a bit about the varieties that they grow, and about the colored streamers on each row that tell you which variety is growing there. Here in Central Florida it gets hot early in the year, so the plants fruit early. What's comfy for the plants is comfy for us, so picking is usually in great weather. When you've finished picking enough, you take the bucket back to the table and pay for what you picked. By comparison, what costs you $8 at a store like Walmart costs you $6 at Beck Brothers farm. So go now, or plan for next April, and get enough blueberries to make your jam, your ice cream, your muffins and pies. Freeze the excess and you'll always be ready to eat the berries that your family and friends picked on a lovely Spring day.

The price is $8 per pound. There are several varieties of berries that are grown. It is organic and completely safe to eat right off the bush. My kids had a blast trying to find the biggest berry :-) I highly suggest visiting while it is blueberry season. You won't regret it. They have…read morepicnic tables scattered around so you can bring refreshments and light bites to snack on before or after picking. The blueberries here are USDA certified organic and you are able to enjoy the blueberries straight from the bush! It was great to be able to sample the different varieties of blueberries scattered around, as well as taste the different ripeness of them so you pick the ones you like best! When you arrive you are given a bucket that has a bag attached on the inside and you just get straight to picking! A bucket holds about 5-6 pounds of blueberries and are $8.00 per pound. When you are done, you bring the bucket back to the tent where it is weighed. They accept cash and credit cards. Our group was able to learn a little bit about the history of the farm, what makes the blueberries organic, and the different varietals of blueberries they had, which was very interesting. If you're planning on doing a you-pick during blueberry season, I highly recommend King Grove Organic Farm. The blueberries are delicious, they're organic, the farm is beautiful, and the staff is friendly!

I loved the idea of picking peaches for Mother's Day. Now it was H-O-T, not gonna lie!! But it…read morewas something new and I wanted to give it a try. This place is in Dade City which we took the back road from Lutz to get there. It made for a nice drive, not much traffic and the roads were smooth. Keep in mind that there is 1 way in and 1 way out. Also want to put in the disclaimer that if you have a low car or a car you may want to take it very easy when exiting -- the exit has a DEEP dip in the ground and isn't level to the road so if you don't go out at the right angle, you're going to get stuck. Next time we will definitely bring my SUV versus my hubs Dodge Charger. When you arrive, you park over on the side where they have signage indicating parking. Upon arriving, don't just go out and start picking unless you're familiar w/the process. Visit the small table they have setup near the large oak tree for a bag to fill with your peaches. They have 2 groves available --- 1 for more sweet peaches and 1 for more tangy peaches. We were probably out there a good 30-40 minutes and visited both groves. I wanted the sweet ones and my daughter wanted the tangy ones. These peaches are rather small compared to the peaches you've ever had from Georgia or from the grocery store. They do allow you to sample the peaches while picking -- just pick the peach and eat it! That's the best part. :) We ended up spending $30 for 2 bags which was actually ALOT of peaches. We did find it hard to find peaches that were ready to pick and looked good....the trees all seemed a bit picked over, which may be due to the timing as well. Perhaps if you go earlier in the season you'd have better luck in finding better peaches. They also went bad REALLY fast. Within 3 days, we had to throw a lot of them out given they were bad. Next year we'll go earlier in the season for better quality. I will give them 3 star though -- the people working there are extremely friendly and the groves are clean and allow for distancing while picking. They do have another grove not that far away which I think we'll try the next time we go. Restroom needed while there, have no fear --- they have a portable potty available.
