You can always ask to add more heat if you need to but I thought this level was just right and maintained flavour while being easy on the stomach. This black owned business has a new home in the Annex neighbourhood, one of my favourite areas in the city. I really liked the ambience of the new location as it is located in the annex hotels and it looks great to lounge in on nights. Make sure to check it out if you are in the area. Chef Adrian Forte (consulting chef) appeared on Top Chef Canada and was a semi-finalist with the chicken burger "The Nima Sandwich" ($12.00). The episode was on the most recent season. He wanted to name the burger after an up-and-coming area of the city, Nima, which is a slum in Accra. The chef was used as a food consultant at the beginning stages of this restaurant. As a Yelp Elite, I was able to order the Yelp Elite Signature Combo ($9.99) which consists of 2 x Kumasi Burger ($8.00), 2 × Fries ($5.00) , and 2 x drinks of your choice ($2.25 or $3.00 for the Pink Ting Soda). Our order was worth $31.25 if ordered separately. However, they have the same combo called Signature Combo for $26.00. Thanks Yelp Toronto/GTA. The burger was very juicy and tasty. The amount of fries you get is quite a lot but is reasonable for $5.00. You place an order online if you want to pickup. You can customize your burger online by removing ingredients. It's easily accessible and has a large parking lot. This location is extremely clean, including the restrooms. There isn't any wifi, though. There are kiosks to place your order, or, you can still order the old fashioned way at the cash. The menu is pretty extensive, with chicken, fish, and breakfast menu items as well. There are also a number of drinks besides fountain drinks, such as coffee, iced coffee, and fruity drinks and milkshakes. They also feature a different price special for each day of the week. They even do catering, with a specially designed menu to order. I went with a Heavy Hitter as a combo. The Heavy Hitter is basically a double burger, complete with double cheese and a standard topping mix of relish, red onion, mustard, tomato, bacon, and best of all, their signature burger sauce. Their burger sauce is what really makes it worth coming to Hero. It's not like the typical Thousand Island flavoured you get eeeeeeverywhere else. This sauce is a little lighter and tangier, with a herby flavour that really cuts the heaviness of a burger. I can barely remember the bacon, but that sauce makes you want to return for more. The patties are 4 ounces each, and nicely cooked. The bun is nice. It's hefty enough to hold up to the two patties and all the toppings, and I enjoyed the mix of sesame and nigella seeds. They have a very extensive choice of toppings, which I wish I had taken the time to go through to customize my burger better. The fries were okay. They keep the skin on and fry them to a good, crispy texture. The salt was almost non-existent, but that was fine, because the burger itself is very well seasoned. They were, however, a little too dry on the inside. Fountain drinks are self-serve style. Of course the drink I wanted, Coke Zero, was the only one not available due to lack of product. The selection isn't that extensive, less than 10 selections total. I don't like Diet Coke anywhere near as much as Zero, so I contented myself with a mix of Classic and Diet. One of my pet peeves is being charged differently (usually more) at the cash than what's displayed on the menu. It's very clearly posted that the burger goes for $13.80, with an additional $5.10 to make a combo. I'm no math genius, but I know $18.90 when that's the sum. Sides like sauces are all free though. The burger was great since it's everything that I wanted. Nice and juicy and so delicious. Made it into a combo with some fries and the fries were also great. I did end up waiting for quite some time though for my food and struggled a little with the kiosks for ordering. But that seems to be a me problem (haha). Overall, a great option for something on the go and if you're craving for a solid burger.
