Always fresh! Always good! Always fast! A great place for take out and more despite being in a small rural town. Friendly service.

Meh... it's ok. Nothing special but not that bad. Portions are pretty skimpy for what you pay. But I guess that's just the norm now.

Twice in two weeks. Food has been great. Not overly greasy for fried food. Fried Rice (house and pork) is one of the best I've had.

The restaurant itself is very visually appealing. Clean and very nice bar. However, expected it to be very loud because of the tile floors. A lot of echo! For appetizers, we had sushi rolls which were average at best. Definitely something missing on the presentation. Also scallion pancakes watch it were average at best. This certainly could be improved on. The main course, however, was extremely hot coming out, which was appreciated. Also, the plates that came out were warm, which is important when it's February in New England. This was a big thumbs up for me. Definitely will go back and revisit some of the selections in the future. They do have an extensive menu of Asian food as well as sushi/sashimi.

I had read reviews before going so at that point I had not tried the chicken but I had gotten beef fried rice and beef and broccoli I found it to be significantly overcooked. The broccoli was mush and the rice was also significantly overcooked. The food lacked flour and the service was subpar at best. I have friends that love this restaurant, so I did try it again and had the same experience. My mother had gone here with one of her friends and said it was really great and wanted to go again so we went for lunch. The service was terrible. The waitress only came to our table wants to take the order and then to drop the food off. I had to go find someone to pay the bill. And I could not even eat my food this time had tried chicken. I got the L10 lunch special. I tried a few pieces and it tasted so undercooked that I ended up just leaving the rest of my food. I also got violently sick within two hours of getting home. I don't like to leave bad reviews but I also think it's important after giving a place numerous tries to share my experience. And I feel that not only is the food either under or overcooked but the service leaves me not wanting to return. The two thing I will give Asia gourmet a star for is their ambience and drinks. It is a beautiful restaurant I just wish the food and service matched.

Everything is made fresh to order from the thick, hand-pulled noodles, dumplings, and scallion pancakes. Ordering is quick and casual. You place your order at the back right counter when you walk in (for dine-in or takeout), and the cashier also acts as your server. If you order a noodle soup, they'll ask if you want green onions and/or cilantro. After that, just grab any open table and relax. We ordered a variety of dishes. Appetizers: Scallion pancakes: (3/5) nice crispy pancakes with scallions. Dumplings with pork and leeks: (3/5) tender dumplings filled with pork and some leeks Spicy stewed beef noodle soup: (4/5) thick hand pulled noodles in a savory broth topped with vegetables like bok choy and mushroom and some tender beef Hot and sour vermicelli soup: (4/5) very tangy savory broth with tender vermicelli noodle and ground pork. Medium spicy level Biang Biang noodles with pork: (4/5) their signature hand-pulled noodles are sautéed in a medium spicy sauce with pork. Overall this place hits the spot for an authentic Chinese meal without the glitz and glamour.

Formosa has an affordable lunch menu, and even on busy days has delivered my meal within ten minutes. Don't be astounded yet, because I would easily wait twenty minutes for this food. When their food arrives from the delicious variety of their lunch specials, you will be treated to crispy tofu, a nuanced spice for chili or jalapeño meals, or fresh vegetables that will make you wonder: who is introducing you to the best cuisine that southeast Asia has to offer? Sichuan meals, Mandarin meals, and even with a Miso soup that is vibrant and delicate in flavor, you may not have any difficulty in deciding at all because any meal you choose will be cooked with what tastes like generations of expertise, love, and wisdom. It is not possible to follow a recipe, or a video, or a shopping trip and recreate the food at the level of Formosa, nor at the price of Formosa, and I say this after years of enjoying their meals. If you are in the area and you are hungry, you will want to visit Formosa as it is an unbelievably satisfying trip for almost any person in the continental USA, and likely for international travelers from near and far. Please tip your staff generously and leave a review to share this love--there is no amount of business they can do that will do the history and delight in their food justice. Their food is accessible to the local public, and they also donate to local causes as well. Amherst has more than universities that educate people here, they have restaurants with generations of stories and wisdom in every meal. You'll be amazed at the silky luxury their hot and sour soup is, with a texture matching the fresh micro mushrooms inside. Be prepared and humble, the staff are dedicated, responsible, and attentive to the public as much as they can. I would love to read a book about the story of this restaurant some day.
