First time visiting this bar. My wife and I had a good time. It took us a few minutes to settle in. It was a Friday night and the bar was hosting Karaoke Night! That was fun! The dj was nice and used a fair rotation for singers to sing. The bartenders were great too! We sat at the bar so for us, the service was great! It was dark and the music was at decent partying level! The only downfall is there's only one bathroom for each gender, the reason for the 4 stars. We didn't try any food so no comment for that, sorry. We will definitely go back for round 2! read more

When you need a karaoke spot during the week, in a pinch its a servicable option, thats the only pro As for the Cons 1- weekends they charge $10 cover 2- drinks are over priced and i have seen phantom drinks added to peoples bill 3- not a safe place to be after dark on weekends. rap themes on the regular draws a bad crowd for your safety 4- they have kicked me out and banned me on rumors a regular start without actual facts or truth. Under new ownership for over a year. New bar staff and Karaoke DJ's. New full kitchen with great cooks. People come in just to have a meal now. After all, it is the only kitchen in the county open until 2:00am on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. That being said, any review dated older than 2020 could be quite skewed. 3 Stars or less, come on back and you will see. Just had a gentleman tell me a few nights ago; "I use to dislike this place, but with all the staff and atmosphere upgrades, It is now my favorite spot in Fort Worth". First time going here last night! Oh my, this was such fun! The crowd was really diverse and super fun. Everyone is super positive and everyone sings along with you. If it's your birthday, everyone is in on the party. The bartenders and bouncers are friendly and the drinks are reasonably priced. This is long overdue! This is one of our favorite places to frequent!! We have a blast whenever we are here! Mark and Cindy take great care if us and we love the karaoke. We typically go during the week so we can relax in a laid back atmosphere. They even give us cards or dominos and will let us order a pizza . It can get pretty crowded on the weekend, so if we pop in on a Friday or Saturday night, it is usually our last late night stop. TOTAL DUMP!!!!!!! Used to love coming here to this little dive bar until I realized the people that are "regulars" there are gossipy miserable people. Same goes for one of the bartenders in particular Cindy. She makes you feel like you are twisting her arm to get a drink, especially if you like specialty shots. "I always get a eyeroll". Also if safety is a top priority this is not the place to go. With the regulars and older washed up bartenders that enjoy drama you are bound to get wrapped up in their web of gossip and lies. My wife and I were looking for a karaoke venue and decided to try this place. On the plus side, the bartender (a gentleman, I did not get his name) was very personable and seemed to genuinely care about the patrons, and the cooler (security) at the door was also very friendly. I should preface this review by reminding everyone that people don't usually go to a bar and think, "Wow! I didn't know they had karaoke!". Karaoke patrons come to a place to partake in the karaoke. That being said, I should also point out that one expects a good work ethic and customer relation ability on the part of the staff in an establishment. The karaoke is advertised to begin at 9 pm. The karaoke DJ, however, showed up at 9:04 pm an began to "set up" for 30+ minutes (by which point, 9:34 pm, my wife and I chose to seek another place for the night's singing activities). Beside the tardiness, a strong smell of marijuana was detected on at least two of the associates of the DJ, if not on her, as well. I have nothing against recreational marijuana, but it is a small bar and it was quite overpowering. When asked, the DJ (Jessica?) was rather snippy and rude, stating that she was "setting up" and proceeded to blow up balloons, activate glow sticks and socialize with others. When we chose to close our tab (3 drinks) and leave, I made it clear that our choice to leave was directly related to the karaoke/DJ situation and, to his credit, the bartender seemed to be willing to advocate on our behalf, to the DJ. Unfortunately, it was too late. I am not one to begrudge anyone for running a bit behind, but found this to be excessive and, without an announcement as to the delay and the curt, rude response from the DJ, decided that this was not the place we wanted to be and can't think of an excuse that would have made the situation better by that point. I think Yupps is a very welcoming, fun and energetic little karaoke bar with great song selection. If you can't find your song in the book just ask the dj, usually they can find it for you. I have been a couple of times and will say that Abel is the best DJ of any kareoke bar, period. I have seen 2 bartenders there and I personally will only go when Mark is working. He has great customer service and a fantastic memory when it comes to what you drink and how you like it made. If you are the type that expects your own private table and all the patrons in suits drinking cosmos then this is not the place for you. But if you are looking for a "Cheers" type atmosphere where everyone knows your name and you don't mind sharing your table with your new Yupps family then you will have a wonderful time. Look, this place is a DIVE BAR. It's a dump! cramped and poor use of the given space. The bathrooms are TINY and dirty. But look - it's a DIVE BAR. The Karaoke is great and the Friday night Karaoke DJ is great. The crowd is a mixture of college students, blue collar, white collar, military (Joint Reserve base is near by) and 'locals.' The building itself is an old Pizza Hut building with an open bar in the middle of the space. They could fit far more people into this place if they gutted the bar, kitchen and bathrooms and moved the bar back into a traditional single front bar. The bartender Mark is a great guy, likes to get to know his patrons and remembers what you tend to order. If you're into Karaoke, dive bars and "local flavor" then you will not be disappointed by Yupp's. My fiance and I have been there around a dozen times over the past couple of years and have always had fun. read more

Awesome place! Don't listen to these poor reviews! I've been wary of going because of the poor reviews on yelp however my friend told me to go in when I get a chance. It was amazing! It was very quiet when I went in a Monday night (just like I like it). It was extremely affordable, the bartender, Mark, is the kindest soul and will really take care of you. Yupps is a Fort Worth institution. They have been there for 25 years! The bartenders are great, and the karaoke is awesome. They update their songbooke every month. The previous review must not have seen the updates in the book. As far as "trade school" type people, Yupps has everyone you can think of. Laura did not get into the spirit of the place, it seems. First off, yes, dank bar. Lots of shadows, the main room is the only room, rectangular with a smaller rectangle of a bar. But any place with a decade of history in a quiet corner of Hulen will be a tad "dank". Second, my first night out, I met a table full of friendly happy people. A group of about eight or nine that welcomed a stranger into their crowd. And cheered him while they sang. Sang horribly off-key songs. I was told I got better with the second one. Third, the men's bathroom is small. And there is no "junk viewing". A quite stable deadbolt is on the door. Ugh. The service was polite, quick, and very deferential. The sound guy running the karaoke knew what he was doing, and adjusted the audio levels for the singer and song on the fly. Having had a few hours of Union sound work, I was grateful. Summary. You want a nice dive bar with soul and friendly patrons? And karaoke? I would recommend Yupp's. P.S. For God's sake, don't order any imports. Arrived a 9pm on a Saturday night and the parking lot was completely empty. We had a group of 8 people. 3 were in their 20's and the rest clearly over 40. Our designated driver forgot her purse and did not have her id. She was 45! They could have marked her hand or something to have the business they clearly needed. Oh well, their loss. Best little dive in Fort Worth, and probably the first bar I ever frequented regularly. It's a small, hole-in-the-wall place that I passed every day on my way to school and never really noticed at first since it's tucked away and looks like an old Pizza Hut. A friend brought me with her for karaoke one night, and I fell in love. Over the next several years, I can't even count how many birthdays, theatre cast parties, and just plain spur-of-the-moment nights out for karaoke with friends I enjoyed here. It may be small and can get pretty smokey, but this is one of those bars that feel like home. The drinks are cheap, the local regulars are friendly and outgoing (and, as another reviewer noted encouraging, especially if you're popping your karaoke cherry), the karaoke (hosted by Crew Karaoke) is a blast and the DJs are hilarious, and the bartenders, especially Mark, are absolutely amazing and make a point to remember you. I will say if you plan on dropping by for karaoke, especially on a weekend and with a large group of people, that you arrive earlier rather than later in order to secure a seat. For such a small, place it can get some high traffic, which I think is a testament to what a diamond-in-the-rough Yupp's is. As for the review that said it's a dump and that the bathrooms are tiny and dirty, I disagree. I'm an incredibly germaphobic person, and while the building is tiny and OLD, I've never felt it was notably unclean, especially compared to the college bars you'd run into downtown or on 7th that are covered in beer, spit, vomit, and broken glass. There's only one male restroom and one female restroom, so, obviously, there's a lot of traffic and you may have to wait in line for a minute, but if there's ever an issue with cleanliness, the bartenders are on top of it. All in all, if you're looking for a laid-back, "everyone-knows-your-name" kind of place, you might find out that this is it. read more
