However, people (21+) come here to hang out, sing, & drink, & this place serves its purpose. There's no drink menu, but prices are not bad for cocktails $5.99-$7.99. They did taste somewhat watered down. The bartenders were pretty efficient & responsive. $5 cover charge for karaoke was automatically charged when you open your tab. Free karaoke on Wednesday. This is why it's 4 stars - the 3 karaoke screens, space, sound quality, & mics. Ppl come here to sing and have fun & they do!! The DJ is very efficient & responsive to song requests. People kept coming even after midnight & everyone was just having fun! After a while, you don't notice the old cigarette smell anymore... lol. I have never seen so many ppl of all ages who actually came to sing & most were pretty good at it! We heard songs from almost all genres. It's a dive so expect less Or have none... Rude staff caters to local regulars instead of welcoming new patrons. Management birddogs guests, especially at the restrooms...and they will call nearby establishments when you leave if they didn't care for your group. Definitely not a hospitality concerned business And they will probably take this review as a compliment. Save your $ and effort. I was lucky enough to spend some time at "Sarah's Place" in Fort Worth, TX. in May 2024. I have never enjoyed meeting so many really genuinely nice people! They had a Prom fundraiser for a terminally ill former employee and it was so much fun! The owners are such warm and gracious ladies! I will make Sarah's Place a must go to spot every tear when I travel to Fort Worth to visit. I returned in July and had a wonderful time again. The drinks are very well made. Went for the first time for husband's birthday. It is VERY small and gets really crowded so go early if you want somewhere to sit. Karaoke is good which is why we went. Bartenders are outstanding. The guy controlling the karaoke was an absolute jerk! We put our song and name in early and he played the same people again and again! He even played people that wouldn't even finish their songs time and time again. Also people who entered the bar after us got called on whereas we were never called up. The smokiest, dingiest yet friendliest bar I've been too in my short time of hanging out around Camp Bowie. Sarah's Place is one of those type places where you don't know it exist unless you live around the area or know somebody about it. It's right next to a convenience/gas store and have a very plain Jane sign. Would definitely come back but I'm not too sure about the smoking part with all the bars here in Funky Town. This is the perfect spot to come sing your heart out to a rather encouraging crowd while drinking cheap, strong drinks. The outside is hilarious -- it seems like you are walking into some kind of sketchy night club in the parking lot of a gas station. But the inside is mostly just divey and smokey, with lots of tables and a long bar full of seating and people singing some pretty rad tunes. My 5-star rating does not mean it is the best karaoke bar I have ever been to, but it is certainly the most bad-A one in Fort Worth. They have a really big selection of music, the KJ (karaoke jockey) is not a jerk (so rare!) and people are there to put on a show. Also, it is packed on a Wednesday night, which I think is uncommon in this city. It is probably best to get there early or you will wind up waiting 45 min - 1hr to sing. There's no getting around it, this bar is just great! It's a Fort Worth institution and the last of a dying breed of Funkytown dives! And to those who say it's too smokey, I say who cares, that's part of its allure! Your grandfather worked in a steel mill 80 hours a week, raised a family, got mesothelioma and still had time to kick some ass on the weekends. Deal with it or stay home, you big baby. I'm a non-smoker and not the least bit bothered by it. All and all, it's a fun-loving, diverse crowd. Everybody is very cool and I highly recommend it. A drunk man became irate and aggressive to my fiancé and friends last night. Threatening to harm us, all stemming from lack of space in a very crowded bar. Had he of asked my fiancé to scoot down rather than yell profanities at her we would of gladly moved. My biggest concern however is not this mans behavior rather the way the issue was addressed. A staff member came over with a drink in hand and asked that our group move to the other side of the bar. He asked what had occurred and we explained. He clearly did not care what we had to say and tried to insinuate maybe we were the problem. He was very unprofessional and rude. We will not be back based on his attitude towards us or how they handled the situation. read more

It's a simple karaoke bar. They were a handful of people when i arrived at 10 on a Monday night... But the room quickly filled up as the night grew. Don't smoke? You will. Don't even have to pay for it! I went with a several friends, some that don't smoke and they thought it was fascinating that you could see the smog. They have a pretty good and modern selection of songs. Some I was pleasantly surprised by. They have some petty serious singers there... Great dive, with strong drinks. No windows to distract you with reminders of the outside world. This is a place where business is done and that business is getting hammered. All the locals were great as well, sometimes you get a dive bar that feels like a clubhouse that's not excepting new members. Don't let the diminutive size or the adjacent gas station fool you, this is a prime spot for karaoke on Saturday nights. I'll start by offering a chronological view of the goings-on of the night. We got there at 10 p.m. and there was already a medium sized crowd, relative to the size of the venue, which feels like an over sized living room with low comfortable ceilings. Our initial song requests came around almost as fast as getting our first drinks, which is awesome because drinking and singing have historically maintained a tight relationship. The enthusiasm of the audience was evidenced by almost rapturous applause after and sometimes during each song. It's great to sing to strangers and feel like you're 'at home.' The song choices were very eclectic, ranging from LL Cool J's "I'm Bad" to Fleetwood Mac's "Dreams" and everything in between, while the room followed along without missing a beat. By about midnight your song requests have started coming around slower and sign-ups already full, newcomers are finding seats to be valuable commodities and the two bartenders who worked dutifully all night to provide the necessary ingredient to a fun night are being taxed to say the least. Of course slipping a cool twenty dollars to the DJ will get you next spot on the list of singers but that's par for the course and if you're not having a blast singing along with mostly good singers and mostly fitting song selections, you've taken a wrong turn somewhere. One trend I noticed was that there were two "special occasions" happening that night aside from karaoke. One was a bachelorette party of about eight that sang and even came to the front to dance to a few tunes out of sheer unabashed excitement. The other was a large group of well dressed young folks that showed around midnight after the annual Van Cliburn Gala let out. It speaks to a venue's attractiveness both as a main event and as an "after party" worthy establishment that such a diverse crowd enjoyed each others' company. I can't yet attest to another reviewer's pinning of the "best of Ft. Worth" karaoke title as my usual stomping grounds is Arlington, and am loyal to the little cave that could. However i'd be hard pressed to imagine it getting any better short of having a live band to back up my drunken crooning. TLDR; - Arrive early and sing several times - Drinks are decently priced(three Jonny Walker Black and Cokes set me back $18). - Good crowd, mix of regulars and newcomers. - Big list of songs and fairly recent ones included. - "Cozy"atmosphere and vibe read more

I came in here about a month ago and was asked to move my car twice (NO handicap parking by the way) So I left of my own volition. I thought I'd give it another chance. I walked in with my SERVICE DOG and walked to the bar and said"HI how's everybody" And was greeted by Sarah who asked me if I drove a Black Mercedes to which I replied yes. This after a sum total of 15 SECONDS in her bar and she tells me that I'm drunk and I'm not allowed in her bar then she says and I quote "I'll see you next time" NEVER in my life and I'm a 69 year old disabled veteran with a service dog. would I nor ANYONE I know EVER set foot in a place that has NO respect for Veterans let alone DISABLED Vets!!!!! She's lucky I don't report her under the Americans with Disabilities act which carries a HEFTY $$$$$$$$$Fine!!!!!! I was first brought to Sarah's Place back in 2007. It hasn't changed much. It's still WAY too smoky, with little ventilation AND the karaoke DJ still uses CD's for the music selection. While he did have a lot of great selection, there was no recent songs. The DJ also has his favorites. I get that there are regulars that go there every night, but come on. They sing the same songs every time. What is wrong with letting some new faces get into the mix, with waiting an hour or more to sing a song. The drinks are cheap and good! read more

Pretty sure this is a straight bar and that my wife and I were the only same-sex couple in the place, but all in all, it was cool. I'm from Oklahoma and wanted to go to a bar that reminded me of the hole in the walls back home where you can; get a good drink, some conversation, and listen to some music. Our first time there was pretty fun. We met some regulars that invited us to play shuffleboard and it was actually fun. High fives and laughs were going around. Music is played from a jukebox and costs, there's a convenience store next door for those that want snacks like chips or something. The bar staff was friendly but the DJ was a complete jerk! I went alone tonight and since i was singing and driving myself i decided to stick with water.
