Came in here to buy wheels for my skateboard, and the lady (Jackie) was very very rude and made me feel very unwelcomed. She looked very bothered after I purchased wheels from her business and I even asked very kindly and respectfully if she could grip my board and she complained. As I was there working on my board , a couple of teenagers came in and she changed her attitude and energy towards them and made them feel welcomed but continued to be rude towards me and even muttered to the kids badly about me . Came to the shop because it was the only area that had the wheels I was looking for so I was really stoked to come in upon entering, she was really helpful and nice. I then asked her if she can help me with my grip tape and she seemed a little bothered. I stayed at the shop to work on my board because I figured I can just swap out the wheels I purchased . I grew up going to shops and hanging out in spaces where skateboarders are welcomed, but this is the first time where I felt like a burden for staying. They had younger folks coming in hanging out at the shop and I overheard her complain about how I had over stayed my welcome. I realize that I was getting treated like I was bothering her business. I asked her if there's anyway I can bother her for back to throw in my old wheels and she seem to be bothered stating that she didn't have any extra bags and mumbled it on her breath and handed me a bag with so much annoyance that I immediately left after that. This is not the space for skaters , I recommend going else where. read more

If it weren't for the nice, friendly service, this place alone on the used records would probably be 3 stars for me. I highly recommend the listening station before you buy used records. Sometimes when you look at the scratches, they aren't as deeply imbedded as they seem. Then others totally ruin the record for me. Most of the used records I found ranged from $2 to $4. However, I did splurge on a Brenda Lee record for $9. She's just so great. There are some really great finds in all genres. Lots of rock. Was hoping for more old school R&B, but was fairly limited. This place has many other things going on... skateboards & accessories, clothing, shoes, CDs, some jewelry, pipes & bongs. I purchased a skate. Drove nearly 2 hours to pick up in store only to discover that not only were they not open until well after they were scheduled to but there was an error. They accidentally sold me the wrong item. She was very nice and apologetic. The reason for low rating is that she said she would issue me a refund and even sent an email to me to confirm. Well a week later after several several emails, they only refunded me a portion of what they charged me. It was their mistake. Needless to say, they appear to be scammers. Next step is to file a complaint with a few companies such as Department of Consumer affairs. It really is sad that it has to come to this. read more

How's a record store holding it down still, much less way out here in South Gate? I don't know, but it works. This place has been around since back in the days. It's front has changed a bit and it original hip-hop bud smokers place to it's currrent skater dude incarnation keeps it pretty hip. Bought my first band shirt of Porno's for Pyros back in the 90's. Yuri's is one of the last standing mom-and-pop style record shops in SG. They have everything from old school hip hop to new Indie punk rock (on VINYL - yeah remember vinyl?) really cool posters, t-shirts, hoodies and accessories. Do you remember the Dead Kennedy's? Yuri's does! The people who work there are always willing to chat it up too. Great place to stop in and feel like you are in the Latino version of High Fidelity. read more

I LOVE this place the people the atmosphere it's incredible. Wax on Wax off this place still sells wax. Whether it's a 12' inch single or full length double sided album. Cd's as well for those of you that are old school and still buy over the counter even though you may have an ipod and MP3 player. This place is always trending from the concert shirts sold here to the skater apparel and the decks on hand. Gone are the video games but that's o.k. the air conditioning on a super hot day makes up the difference. You want buttons of your favorite bands they seem to be making a come back as well there are patches for you jackets or if you want to plug up that hole in your jeans. Posters of hot chicks/women are still alluring as much as the metal, punk and rap musicians or your favorite bands. I hope this is all helpful for you that have never been there or frequent the place as much as I have and plus working there for 15 years or so helps me know about what I have stated here on this post. read more

Definitely not your scene if you're over 15. Everything in their bins was either Fergie or overplayed M.I.A. Where's the underground hip hop and underground NY rock bands? Yuris records has been in South Gate for ever, really my only reason for giving it 3 stars, it's held its ground on street where mom and pop shops have closed down over and over again. Yuris is that after thought store... When you can't find records at Amoeba, or at Fingerprints. They're records are over priced, and not a wide selection of music. 3 bins for Rap/hiphop 3 for Rock 3 for indie... Not enough for me. Most of it is mainstream media, stuff you'd hear on Kroq. Vibe is okay, almost feels like the lady behind the register is staring at you to see if you're gonna buy something. She also has a bit of an attitude, whenever I ask about pricing she replys with a snarky comment and tries to justify its price. They have Crosley Record players in there priced over $110! Are you kidding?! It also seems they priced then higher according to color variations. The same record player can be bought on Amazon for less than $70 with free shipping! Other than being a record store, they also have smoking accessories bongs,pipes, and roll papers. The also have skateboard stuff, shirts, patches, and anything you'd find in a smaller less expensive shop in Hollywood. Although this isn't the place for me, it might be the place for you, just be ready to spend a lot of money. read more

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this place! By far the best small business/family owned record and skate shop. I went in to do some Christmas shopping and I was able to get all of my family and friends a gift right there. Since then I continue to shop here for many reasons. Everything is way cheaper than going to a place like BestBuy or Vans Skate. The employees are super friendly, and they even help you out putting things together like the skateboard, wheels, trucks, and grip tape that I bought for my nephew. I would HIGHLY recommend this store to all my family and friends. Keep up the great job, I give you 5 stars and two thumbs up!! read more

So when I was in high school, there was a reason why I would commute to hollywood to get my goodies... This place is about what you would expect from a tiny record store... in South Gate. It's small, doesn't have much mech, and what they do have is pretty pricey. I'm honestly shocked they are still in business. I would guess the only reason why they are still in business, is because South Gate is so secluded that most of the kids who come here have no other place to go. Definitely not my cup of tea. They seem like they don't want to help you unless you're a familiar face. Their music selection for one, isn't too great and it's ridiculously overpriced. As for parking.. What parking? Worst of all the customer service was very inappropriate and mediocre. I wouldn't recommend this record store. read more
