Great service. Selection was great and prices were even better. They also host music events with DJ's and live rapers. I will return to the next one.

Found this little record store by chance just by walking around uptown Whittier. Small but mighty, this record store has a lot to choose from. From vinyls to tapes and lots of inventory I'm sure you'll find what you're looking for. The guy that was there helped us with everything that we needed and was able to give us some insight on some good album selections. My son ended up walking out with three albums for a really good price which I think the value was great. I definitely recommend checking this place out! ALSO!!! don't let the Facebook site for you. They are more than just an R&B and hip-hop store. They sell all genres.!!!!!! My son walked out with a Frank Sinatra, Tame Impala, and a Mixed Jazz album!

This store adorns the city of Whittier with its radiant, dark vinyl. Mxxnshine glows among a cityscape otherwise devoid of funky D-I-S-C-O records; whole crates of vinyl await the track obsessed collector, the hit seeking DJ, and the rare LP enthusiast. All would be pleased with the intoxicating inventory at Mxxnshine. Few record stores even include a House music section, and if a store has House, the genre is usually lumped in with 12" inch singles or DJ music. Not so at Mxxnshine. Manny, the owner, meticulously arranged the collection of House music on sale at Mxxnshine in a series of beige storage cubes. Most of the salient House labels and artists were pretty well represented. I definitely saw quite a few Lil' Louis records, and at least one sought after Dance Mania record. I have not seen too many decent House records in the typical CA record store, so Mxxnshine's excellence waxes just due to its House inventory. The disco section exceeded expectations. Mxxnshine's disco inventory might be more sizable than Amoeba's. I saw disco LPs from A to Z. Every notable disco artist could be picked out. I ended up finding a copy of a Strikers single in NM condition. The price for the record considering its quality and condition was sensible and fair. Manny also brought a Dolly Parton track to my attention that had some funky, disco not disco promise. (I am not referring to Jolene here, which is a fun one.) Because I already mentioned the pricing, I should touch on Manny's overall music knowledge. I had the privilege to extensively discuss Manny's background as a DJ. I recollect that he has been a disc jockey since the age of 12. He has a sound working knowledge of electro, house, techno, disco, italo-disco, hip hop, R&B, and etc. I don't want to belabor my observation, so I will keep it simple: Manny possesses a refined understanding of worthwhile DJ music, and any curious customer is likely to find value in his opinions on popular music. Manny's efficacy as an owner is just as noteworthy as his music taste. He has had appreciable experience in other mgmt. roles in other industries, and it shows. Manny runs Mxxnshine with a high level of business acumen and insight. He has plenty of business knowhow to sell and market a product. He mentioned that in the earlier days of Mxxnshine, very few customers walked in due its somewhat removed location from the street. Manny has found ways to get Mxxnshine on the map and to get folks interested in good records. People drop into Mxxnshine all the time now. (The foot traffic in the store was steady when I was there.) I particularly admire his efforts to run a store for the diehard crate diggers. The world has enough record stores "specializing" in 180 gram re-issues. Manny keeps the model of the store fun for the true believers out there, and that's easy to respect. Although a frill or an extra, I ought to round out this review with a mention of the Mxxnshine bags Manny provides to customers. I have seen my fair share of monogrammed/logo heavy plastic or recycled material bags. The cloth Mxxnshine bag buyers get free is far and away the best bag I've been fortunate enough to receive. Each cloth bag depicts a jug of moonshine or rotgut liquor, and the cartooning is fairly impressive. Mxxnshine's bag definitely exemplifies the true amusement Manny works to create in his storefront each day. I look forward to filling my Mxxnshine bag next I stop in for some spirited music.

This place is INCREDIBLE! I've been coming here for a number of years now, and I am rarely disappointed. Manny the owner is very personable and knows what he has in stock. Even though albums are very popular right now, his prices are very reasonable. I drive from the OC for no other reason than to shop at his store. Now on any given day that could be a 40 minute drive! But it's worth it almost every time. So if you're looking for that classic album or just want to browse, I would recommend Mxxnshine Records. Now at the top of my review I did say I'm rarely disappointed. And I have to be honest. There were a few times that Manny wasn't there during business hours. But now I know the trick...just call the phone number listed on the door and he'll answer! Obviously that hiccup hasn't deterred me from going. Mxxnshine Records has been an intricate part of my ever growing collection!

( a true hidden gem) My girlfriend brought me here on a date night to kill some traffic time, and being the digger I am I couldn't resist going in and taking a look Instantly started going through all the records, everything from disco, classic and modern rock, punk, ska, reggae and much much more! I left with a used but very good condition men at work and a new specials record, pricing was fairly cheap and stocked with tons hidden gems, if you like vinyl and visiting record shops add this one to the list! Tons of near by shops from food, desserts, clothing and restaurants to choose from for the perfect date
