I am I writing this Yelp review for the Saskatoon YXE Airport? Anytime I fly from Saskatoon to Calgary, or to Edmonton, Toronto, Los Angeles, Cuba, Hawaii, I fly from the Saskatoon airport. I love flying from this airport. It is just the right size of airport for the city but as our population continues to grow, I believe that the airport should expand in size. The service there at the airport is continuously positive. I've never sat in a first class area before and at some point I know that my partner and I would be travelling somewhere that requires to travel by plane so it would be nice to sit in first class and experience because a few of relatives already have gotten to do that. read more

I took public bus #11 from downtown and cost was only $3. Very convenient for light traveler. I was aware that from yesterday Canadian government lifted Covid restriction for vaccined foreign tourists and this airport would be effected too. However it seems no. Quite empty here. Only one souvenir store is opened and others are still closed. Very empty airport. So I checked in very early.. then right after that, Air Canada sent me a text about revised departure for security reason. I don't see anybody though. My impression here, good looking new building but people are not so aware nor organized. Poor management. read more

Listen, any place that has footrests in the gate seating areas automatically gets 5 out of 5 stars from me ... I was in Saskatoon this week for a work trip. Customs was easy and took only about 5 minutes, when I arrived, and today when I left, the airport was pretty empty. There are a few snack/souvenir shops before security, and a few after, also. I needed to show my passport to the Air Canada employee at the gate, they didn't show up until ten minutes or so before boarding and then she was trying to boot up her computer, so she came over to where I was sitting, retrieved my passport and scanned it, then brought it back to me, while I lounged on my footrest (A+ service). Hey I have to upgrade the rating of this place because they just modernized this place big time since I was here last. I come to YXE very rarely but I still remember that their 2 baggage belts are steps away from the gates which are steps away from the car rental counters. I love that about this place because being small makes everything faster. Just like Billy Bishop, the time to taxi, disembark, claim baggage and get my car using my preferred booking (no line) I'm out of this place in under half and hour. By today's standards for landing and leaving that's a win. As of my writing this update the newest renovation is the rental car lot which is directly outside the terminal which now has access only from the middle doors and the walkway into the center of the parking lot. The lot is currently fenced in so there must be some work that has to be done. The parking lot for rentals seems rather tight or tighter than it perhaps used to be. I could see if there's snow that gaining access to the cars could be difficult. read more

Clean airport but food court and all coffee shops are closed during Covid time . Was able to get only a sandwich , Starbucks's bottled Mocha coffee and crackers . Bring food on board if u doing stopover to avoid hunger . Safe flights! read more

Sure it's small but it's clean and easy to get around in. Pre security does not offer many shops or food besides a Tim Hortons. Once you are through security there is much more for food and gifts available. Free Wi-Fi is there also and it is comfortable. read more

I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to navigate this smaller airport. I mean, don't get me wrong - it's small so don't expect to shop til you drop on a layover but the renovations are gorgeous! It's east to see why they won most improved airport in North America. Literally from tarmac to luggage to rental to my hotel was all in under an hour! Insanely easy. Washrooms were numerous and plentiful. I look forward to flying in/out of here in the future. read more

Arrived a few hours before my flight and happy to see no one in the check in line and it was very quick. There wasn't anyone at security either but not sure what was on the other side, we decided to have a drink and something to eat before going through. There's a Tim Horton's, and a sandwich place. There's also a pub style restaurant that we went to. They offer few items such as burger, sandwich, and salad. I wasn't hungry and just had a pop. It wasn't too busy and service was prompt. About 45 minutes before the flight we went through security. There was a line up of about 10 people for 2 security lines. It took a while to go through as it seemed that almost everyone had to go through extra precautions (swabbing palms, checking carry on, or being pat down). There's one place that sells sandwiches and drinks after security but not much else. I'm glad we didn't have to wait long as there wasn't much seating. The bathrooms upstairs only offer 2 stalls and there is another one downstairs that is bigger. For a small airport, it was fine. I would recommend not going through security until close to boarding time. read more

Small airport. Easy to get in and out. Airport's restaurant Refuel actually serves decent food. The bathrooms are clean, baggage claims are quick, customs and check-ins are short lines. The airport is organized and trendy. The car rentals are in the main entrance. The rental cars are directly parked outside of the terminal. Small town airport feel and lines for a bigger city; so great! I've waited 20mins the longest at security but 9/10 times it's less than five minutes. The last few times there was absolutely no one in line. It's been recently renovated so it's clean and spacious. I love the working areas and the funky chairs you find spread out. This is an easy airport to navigate. There's construction along the drop off lanes and parking lot at the moment but still easy to get in and out of. Additional parking was just constructed as well for vehicles staying for longer periods of time. It takes about 20mins or less to downtown core/University areas. read more

BOTTOM LINE: Free wifi. Clean washrooms. Water bottle refill stations! When the standard for national airports comes down to, did it take forever to get through security?, and did I miss my flight?, the Saskatoon one is a-ok! As with many smallish-to-moderately sized airports, this was one of the cleaner and more organized ones, though it was still undergoing some renos. The day I flew in and out, it was essentially deserted, so this review may be bias (or maybe it's always empty?). I tried the Refuel resto/bar - pretty standard stuff. I have to say the seats are fancier than expected with its grey upholstery and block-style backs so that it towered over you - sorta like something out of a supper club. I dig it, even it feels more Miami than the SK! :) read more

It's a bummer that there are no lounges here but this is still a very clean and well maintained airport! The seating is modern comfortable and has foot rests as well as USB ports and plugs all over. The restrooms are clean and the mirrors say "you look amazing" on them. Funny touch. read more

Small but newer renovated feel to this prairie town airport that was convenient to get in and out of in rapid time. I had a quick but delicious lunch at the airport restaurant refuel that was quite decent. The highlight of the stop off on Saskatoon for me however was the fact that the gift shop had loads of Saskatoon berry products. I picked up a few bottles of Sask berry syrup and a jar of Sask berry jam. This was a flashback to me as when I was a young lad growing up in Manitoba I'd pick Saskatoon berries and my grandma would bake a nice Fresh berry pie. Good memories. They did have frozen pies however they were a tad over priced for me. Good times in the toon. Thanks. read more

New and improved! Well, a number of years ago it was... but still, new and improved! As a person who grew up in a time when the blight of the airport in Saskatoon looked more like a middle-of-nowhere Greyhound station where a person could only find two vending machines for food (one of which didn't work, the other dispensed nothing but cans of Coke) than an "international" port of air, I am impressed. Clean, bright and TINY, this little guy does what it needs to do for a city of Saskatoon's size. The quintessential emblem for all that is hoser-Canadiana, Tim Horton's is the only coffee to be found, and the unfortunate food selection is limited to the lame, yet entirely standard and overpriced souvenir shop / convenience store or the strange sandwich shop that hides behind the escalator, just past security. Eat before you go. Also, maybe it's to make up for size, but the security here is *tight* -- like, unnecessarily so. "Yes, yes ma'am, that *is* a half-full 110ml bottle of lotion that is not in a ziplock bag. Really? I need to throw it out because it's labeled TEN millilitres more than the maximum allowed amount??" A seemingly tiny thing, I know; but flying is annoying enough as it is that I really don't need an ego-tripping security guard to tell me what's up. BUT, the facilities are new. And most definitely improved. Fix the public transportation issue (as in, get some), and this airport could be ballin'. read more

I'm surprised by all the positive reviews about the staff. Every time I've been here they aren't accommodating at all. They seem exasperated by life. I mean I get it, being airport staff sucks, but come on... you all act like a bunch of pissed off teenagers working at a movie theatre. I don't really know if that is the fault of the airline or the actual airport staff. People working at both Starbucks and Tim Hortons are slow AF so there is always a line up even though this airport is small. Lines should move quickly here but they just don't. Maybe its a small town thing who knows. Other times I am literally the only person in line and I still have to wait like 10 minutes to get served? I just do not get it. Put down your phone for 1 second I can guarantee it will be there when you are finished. I don't know if it is even worth writing a review... I mean we all know that Air Canada and Westjet staff just act however they want because they have a monopoly over the airlines in Canada. If you don't like how they act, tough. They don't need to be nice to you because they literally do not have too. Same goes for standard airline employees. If you want to be treated with respect they don't have to do anything because they're always power tripping. Ask someone for directions and they look at you like you're an idiot. Excuse me for not knowing where the bathroom is your majesty. Looks like this place has been renovated to look a lot better, but just because you renovate the airport doesn't mean you don't have to have customer service anymore. Simple smiles go a long way people. For a small airport its fine. But this is totally NOT what Saskatoon people are really like. They're usually so friendly and nice. The one thing I can say is to eat BEFORE you go through security, because once you pass through, your options are limited to the overpriced vending machines. There is free wifi available though...which came in very handy for the Air Canada passengers who were delayed 6 or 7 hours while I was there... read more

Small town airport, quick to get in and out. Immigration clearance was a breeze, much quicker than security check in many airports. Bought a little 'moosing in here' (you get it eh!) shot glass on the way back. Seems most of the travelers are hunters from the US, kind of felt weird. read more

The new departure lounge is almost finished. There is one restaurant called "Refuel", probably because the food is a primary source of oil. But at least crude prices are down, these food prices are ridiculous for this type of fast food. They have a Starbucks (yay) and its closed for the day (boo). And a brand new screening lounge that is the slowest I have ever seen. Is this a training facility? A 3 dressed up as a 9! read more

Since the renovation, this is such a nice airport. Clean, fun, interesting & functional seating setups, and LOTS of plug-ins. What more could you ask for? Well specifically I could ask for a Maple Leaf Lounge, but hopefully that will come in time. read more

Wow, this is my first time since the renovation. It's almost like it's a real airport and everything!!!!!!! To put into context, the Saskatoon airport used to have literally about 4 gates and very little in terms of shops past security. So this is definitely an upgrade. It was hard for me to judge just how much it was since when I arrived on a Monday evening literally everything was closed and it sort of resembled a set from a post apocalyptic movie. And that's my only question mark about it - I've never seen the Saskatoon airport really busy, but I know that the city is growing so I assume they renovated it to sort of keep ahead of the future demand. read more

Great job on the upgrades Saskatoon! It finally feels like we actually live in a city now instead of feeling like a small town.

Came here for a short trip to the university. Was amazed by the size of the airport (smaller than union station for all us gta'ers) Underwhelming..but nicely put together, clean; enough options available for a person to have a comfortable trip. They have this refuel or refresh lounge, which is a restaurant and bar kind of thing. Was really hungry so I went just before my flight. Ordered the California chicken roll with onion rings. Roll was good...packed with food (chicken, bacon, tomato, tasty alioli)...would have preferred a better tortilla though. Onion rings were nicely fried. Good menu selection Drinks are really expensive. read more

Nothing special to write about here. Planes, check. Security screening, check. Tim Horton's, check. One door that acts as four gate numbers, che.... Wait a minute. Yeah its that small. There are two doors with multiple gate numbers and two other "stand alone" gates. Carbo load before security, especially for early flights or you'll be sorry. read more

Had the worst experience at this airport when one of their super inexperienced/psychotic security guards falsely led me towards the exit doors (instead of the gate) and then shouted at me for trying to re-enter when I never even left, then didn't allow me to board my flight. It was extremely astonishing behaviour and even the Air Canada reps felt embarrassed. I fly internationally all the time, was invited to perform at the Saskatoon Jazz Festival and was in an extremely chipper, relaxed mood when I arrived at the airport- the attitude I received from the young and bored security agent was extremely disturbing, especially because she actually cornered me into that situation probably because she had nothing better to do during her overnight shift in an extremely dead airport. I thought it was going to be really chill, and it was nothing but, and unfortunately none of the security supervisors were present for the nightshift. It left a very bad image of Saskatoon for me and I will never fly in/out of this airport ever again. read more

When you offer a prepaid parking options, the prepaid gates should be in working ordered. I had the infotunate experience of dealing with a particularly old and grouchy parking attendant after the prepaid gates would not work. I did not appreciate having my intelligence or honesty questions in a effort to get out of the parking lots. You sir, need to find a new job! read more
