Poor woman's Spa day.:) I have been 4x now. I deducted 1 star for the two times I had a larger young man and a young woman whose technique was a bit hard and not as intuitive as the 2x I got ABBY! Wow! I will continue to come back and make apts with her. She listened to what my needs were and gave me exactly what I needed and exceeded my expectations. She noticed when my body language said I was cold and gave me an extra cover. She found the spots that were troublesome and worked them out. Some I didn't tell her. She just knew. This place is my hidden secret, but I realized I shouldn't be this selfish! It's amazing how they find all the problems in my body and work on it. This is a traditional Chinese healing massage so it can be painful and can leave bruises ( just like cupping which they also do) but because they really work on your body to get all the stress and tightness out, which can cause injuries. If you don't want to have a hard massage this is not your place, they won't just put lotion and tickle you, they fix you. I always do the 90mins massage because it is full body and they have time to work on problematic areas. Try all of them and find your person, because that is how I found mine. Hurts so good. Don't come here if you want someone to rock you up sleep with heavy petting. My body is literally a brick of knots and they manhandled me, working out some major pains and tensions. I was a regular here for years because it's a great price for an hour long high quality acupressure massage ($45) and that's a diamond in the rough for Williamsburg/NYC. At one point I had a weird experience with a male so I started requesting females only. I didn't want to sacrifice this spot because of a bad one-off. I had never experienced the "forced tip" dictated in previous negative reviews because I always tipped more than 20%, but recently I asked for an hour and half massage for the first time, and halfway through, she started disappearing multiple times. At the end, you could tell she barely had any energy. When I was checking out, the front desk girl told me to tip 20% because an hour and half long is harder work than an hour. I laughed and now I go to a spot on Graham Ave for the same price. read more

The place is nothing to look at (then again, the price is hard to beat) however the massage therapist left me feeling more sore than I ever have in my life after a massage. The therapist used foot techniques, i.e., standing on back, with really calloused feet which left scratch marks on my back. It may sound uppity, but really, its the one time where I'd advocate for a pedicure. When we got to the end to pay, I left a 18% tip (it rounded things to an even number) and the manager had the audacity to demand an additional 2% tip. Firstly, Tip is optional, if it isn't, then include it in your price. Secondly, demanding tip is how you lose repeat business. The two bucks you fought more for, lost you years of additional business. I do not plan on returning here. read more

This place has been my favorite massage place for over 4 years. Wendy, Daisy, and a bunch of the guys who's names I'm forgetting do an amazing job. I like a very hard massage and they almost always find all the ouchy spots that need work. Now one MAJOR WARNING: There is one guy with a man-bun/high poney tail who is not in the same league as the rest. I hope I am addressing this guy right now, because I am pretty sure he spends most of the massage time with on hand lightly on your back and the other on his phone. To the rest of the masseurs: please teach this guy how to give a massage or let him go. Whenever I come I have to ask to not have this guy, and that ask is getting old. A great massage for a great price. I was looking for a no frills place that would work my muscles and that's exactly what I got! I was able to call on a Saturday afternoon and book a 60 min massage day-of. I saw Anne, who was lovely. Great pressure (I prefer massages that are deeper). They even used hot stones, which felt great. At the end of the hour, it was so pleasant that I ended up adding another 30 minutes to add a foot massage. The total cost? $68 + tip! It's truly a no frills place - not at all a spa environment, if that's what you're looking for. But I'll definitely be back when my shoulders and back need some TLC. read more

I have been coming here for years and they never disappoint. The massage therapists seem to intuit where I have the most tension and they really get in there. At other places when I ask for "strong" pressure, it feels like medium. Here a medium is the perfect amount of pressure. A couple minutes later, she comes in and says "sorry, they're not available, how about this gentleman?" No females available. I said ok, and got a decent massage, but come on. Love this place. $45 for a massage worth 3x the amount. Yes, the rooms are divided with curtains. Yes, you hear the goings-on of the business and the check-in/out of clients. This, however, is worth it in exchange for the hourly rate. I've gone several times. This past time I planned to ask for a harder massage to address tightness in my neck, shoulders, and lower back, and to skip my arms/feet/hands. I ended up not saying anything, and the massage therapist Mike spent the entire time working on my trouble areas regardless. He certainly didn't hold back and we both laughed several times about how tight my muscles were and how painful it was. I got a massage as a gift a few weeks ago at a fancy place in SoHo, and the rooms were quiet, I got to choose a fancy oil, etc, but the massage was just so-so. I've officially found the best affordable massage place in the neighborhood, and I'm happy to report that it is Z Relax on Union. I've tried them all, even some of the more upscale ones near Bedford, and have had mixed experiences - until tonight! My back was feeling really sore after the gym and I called for a last-minute appointment for an hour long deep tissue massage. They were very accommodating and were able to see me pretty much immediately. This place is definitely no-frills, but the quality of service for the price in the neighborhood is absolutely unparalleled. My massage therapist (whose name I unfortunately don't remember) was very attentive and listened to all my feedback about pressure across different areas, and gave me the kind of deep tissue massage that actually works out the knots (and frankly hurts in the moment, but sometimes that's what you need!) It was $45 for the hour and they take credit/debit cards. I'm thrilled to have found this place and will definitely be returning! read more

First off just know it's cash only. Have been looking for a place that's affordable and this place is it. Not only that, but they really know what they are doing. I wasn't able to get the name of my masseuse but she was so good. I like a strong massage as I carry a lot of tension from my work and she got in there. This place is the real deal! Unlike most Chinese Tui Na massage places, the staff at Z Relax are all deeply trained in the principles of Chinese Medicine and they have a much more profound understanding of the subtle impact they're having on the body. Seeing Daisy and Mike regularly has helped to realign a disc in my lumbar spine in a way that my chiropractor wasn't able to address with the same nuance. It's also helped to improve my sleep and my overall energy levels! If I lived closer, I'd be going to Z Relax weekly! I still can't believe that they only charge $45 for 60 minutes. I'd easily pay 3x what they charge because they've helped my health so much! If possible, try to go midweek / mid-day when it's quieter! read more

This place is a hidden gem. It's insanely affordable ($45 for one hour + $10 tip). The staff is talented, professional, and knowledgeable. I'm always promptly seen and I walk out feeling like a goddess. Everyone at the shop is amazing so definitely don't shy away from trying them out to find your match. But please, do not try and walk in without an appointment. It's a small space so it will be quite disruptive. Call ahead and they are usually able to fit you in within a couple hours, if not sooner, the day you call. Treat them with respect!! Not that I think you wouldn't, but you know how people can be. Z Relax knows what they are doing and they really care. If you want them to focus on a certain area or go easier/ harder, kindly let them know upfront or throughout. Great massage, especially for the unreal price of $45/hour. I've been having a lot of upper back and shoulder tension and it was worked OUT yesterday during my massage. I feel like the most effective ones are often the most painful. Be warned- this is no fancy joint. The "rooms" are only separated by curtains and lined up one right next to another. So you will hear the door, the phone, and the therapist/customer next to you checking in with one another about pressure or time. Not a big deal, just know that that's how it goes!
