I have 3 herniated disks and one bulging disk. I swim, run, and do MMA. My back gets worn out in time and this is the place I come to feel rejuvenated. I have been coming here for about two years I have only experienced two bad massages, but that's when I was trying out different masseuses. I feel like this place is tailored for true deep tissue massages. Before coming here I have been to other locations where their deep tissue massages were extremely light compared to this location. So I would say about 70% of the masseuses here are heavy handed - which is perfect for me because of how tight my back gets. Now you can definitely find a light massage here but it's a roll of the dice in that respect. The only thing I can see that can be annoying is the language barrier. Don't come to this location with complicated requests because you will get frustrated. Point and mimic is the key. Use small english words and you can express your needs. I have a regular masseuse which already knows exactly what to do, so I leave feeling amazing!!

So much respect and humility in trying to make sure you get the treatment that you need by all the masseuse, who may or may not speak well English. They are some very strong ladies. You just tell him what you need. NYC granted us a baby and luckily Lavender was able to take care of me during ALL my pregnancy. Owner did share that there would be surcharges for using a card. Location is clean and accessible. Plenty of street parking. Just be aware that on Fridays from Sept- Nov the street parking is canceled for Open Streets NYC where folks dine in the street so you'll have to use the side streets. Arrived at 4:00 PM and was seen immediately. Amy my masseuse instructed me to remove all clothing( except underwear ) and lay face down on the massage table. I settled in as spa sounds and lemongrass scent helped me to relax into the ambiance of the space . She gave me a dry rub for the first 10 mins ( sheets on). She then applied her first layer of oil and with the right amount of pressure worked out my trigger points and knots in sections. She then applied a second layer of scented oil and gave a deeper level of rub. There were plenty of really painful moments but not because of her. I had been holding a lot of tension in my mid back. Over the next 30-40 mins she worked each area intentionally and then applied the hot stone and gave me a soothing rub for an additional 10 mins leading to the end of our session. I took one star away because in comparison to another establishment, the massage wasn't as complete. There were areas that were completely overlooked, such as my thigh. Also, some practices allow you to add on the foot massage for an additional price. At this location, I wasn't offered that option. If you know about reflexology, you know how important the feet are and so addressing the larger parts of the body and neglecting the feet isn't holistic. I'd probably return but design my package myself ( as much as they'd allow). Again, fairly good massage- just not complete satisfaction.

The part where they use the hot stones at the end -- oh my goodness, it was incredible! The rooms are only semi-private; there is a divider between the rooms (not four walls) so you can hear some chatter. But since I was one of the only clients, it was rather a relaxing experience.
