So I'm sitting here on the patio at Z's interested in trying this place out. Supposedly opens at 4pm. It's currently 4:09pm and will update entrance time when it happens (if ever). Called the business number at 4:03pm and asked if they were open. They said "yes, we open at 4 but I don't know what time it is". So we're still sitting here, we can see employees inside, but the doors are locked, and it's now 4:11pm. Learn how to tell time, I guess. Was looking forward to trying your food, but there's no way to tell when you're open or not. 4:13 and they finally opened the doors. 4:21 and we get menus 4:25 and the server comes out and says we don't meet dress code. That's absolutely ridiculous. We had nobody in our party that could ever be considered dressed as scandalous or inappropriate. Do not visit this establishment. There is no reason to support this behavior when there are many other (much better) options. In reading the past reviews I will just say "hello" to the owner. You have absolute BS policies and nothing you can say will rectify how your employees treated us. You are trying to be a "high end" establishment in a location where that will never be effective. You are not a Micheilin star restaurant and you never will be. Read the room my dude. You're destined for failure with this kind of service. read more

If you want a well made drink in a classy bar this is the spot!! The bartenders are personable and will treat you great! The bar is an original from the early 1900's, handmade and ornate. There is ambience and great service. Best place in Waco for a drink! read more

I love this bar. So unique and upscale. Waco was missing this in spades. You have to go to Dallas to get something similar. You can go there in a cute dress or in a cowboy hat, I've seen both. It's the ambience and carefully crafted cocktails that are impressive. I saw someone write about lack of masks. It's a choice and if you're concerned, keep yours on and sip your drink through a straw. read more

I went today with my mother and best friend from college to get a nice celebratory drink after graduating and I have never been so baffled by an establishment. I am from Chicago and have been to numerous nice "lounges" however I have never been turned away for any of my outfit choices which just shows me that exclusivity based on appearance is more important than actually bringing in customers with the demeanor desired. I also immediately went to yelp only to find the owner fighting with her customers? I would like to put something into perspective: this is Waco Texas. I had been here once before for a fashion event for Baylor and was not turned away for my outfit choice of a tank top paired with white jeans and heels, however, after walking into the empty establishment I was turned away because my mother, friend, and I were wearing shorts on a day that is 95 degrees. "Look up the establishment before" is not applicable because I would believe it's safe to say no one looks up any restaurant- forgive me "upscale lounge". The wine here is over priced (a glass of a moscato I ordered prior was $9 and the bottle close to $30 in the lounge however after a quick google search I found it was actually a $13 bottle of wine) and quite frankly this is a mediocre way of trying to "upgrade" Waco. Not only that but my friend and I were assumed to be less than 21 years old as we are both 22 about to turn 23 in the fall. If I could give this place 0 stars I would but I can't. For reference of them not upholding said "dress code" I've added a photo of my friend and I's outfits from this past February. No crop tops or tank tops? If you're going to fulfill a dress code at least be consistent or acknowledge that fashion often involves things you may not consider "classy". read more

A group of Baylor alumni friends and myself showed up at this place just after they opened 4:05pm to find it still closed (supposedly opens at 4). After being there for 20 minutes we were finally greeted by a seeming annoyed bartender who threw the menus on our tables, bartender then came back to tell us a member of our party did not "meet their dress code" that is posted nowhere. The so-called issue this place had was with someone wearing high rise jeans and a sleeveless blouse showing maybe 1/4 inch of stomach. We just got there after enjoying the Baylor game and sitting in the hot sun. I've been to far nicer and exclusive bars where I live in Austin and as well as places where friends live in Dallas and Ft. Worth and have NEVER seen an issue with the same attire there. It seems to me that their owner may have a problem controlling themselves around women showing any kind of skin. We were told a jacket would not be a proper remedy. Upon leaving there were only 5 other people currently not in our party at this establishment around 4:30pm on a Saturday seems like a place I'm glad I didn't waste my money at. I will be telling all of my friends, colleagues, other Baylor alumni, and clients to avoid this place like the plague it appears to be. For the women reading this review, the ownership appears to be objectifying any woman that enters the building. If I could I would leave a ZERO star review. read more

If I could give this place less than a zero I would. I went with my daughter and her friend to celebrate their graduation and there were two customers in the entire restaurant and yet, we were denied service as the girls had on blue Jean shorts that were not too short! As a professional, I understand the desire to have standards however, the insulting way your employees turn customers away is no way to attract new customers - we were told to go change clothes and come back. Rules should include common sense and management should use good judgement to ensure the success of your company. I have read the other reviews and agree that this place is not worth the hassle they put you through to simply enter the establishment and shame on the owner for not treating customers with kindness. This is a "service" industry. No wonder at 6:00PM you had two customers. There are many excellent places in Waco - I strongly suggest trying any of those and avoid this place. read more

Yours is a very interesting perspective..my statement was just simple facts .. and I can see by just the way that you responded to this review why there are several other negative reviews against you... You can tell a lot about a business owner by the way they treat their employees and I can only imagine how you treat your customers.. although I don't usually respond back to Petty comments like yours I will in this case and you'll be sure to know that I will let everybody that I come across know how subpar your bar is not so much in the atmosphere but in the attitude of the leadership... The way your response should have gone was I'm sorry you had to witness that and I would like for maybe possibly to have you give us a second chance.. being a business owner myself I'm embarrassed for you and I hope that you'll take this as a learning experience.. and kudos for you to only taking 7 months to respond..Vaya con dios.. read more
