If you choose this school, and if you get sucked into giving of your time, talents and money (beyond tuition), just know there is a high risk that you may one day suddenly not be beneficial enough for him and his school. You will have done nothing whatsoever to bring negativity to him or his school; there will be no discussion, no warning, just an overnight decision to have you gone and permanently banned from the property. This very thing has happened to 13 people, in 6 years. That is a high percentage for a school that averages 50 to 60 students (including leadership) at any given time. And if you are looking to earn a nationally recognized black belt with registered Dan numbers, this isn't the school for you.

One thing I also noticed was that my will power was depleted prior to attending the school. Over time, my yoga practice didn't address my injury and it left me empty inside on many levels. Since practicing at Body Mind Systems I feel strength, not just physically, but in my capacity and drive as a human. I think this is the case because John and George have taken the time to know me as a person and push me to the edge of my capacities while keeping my hip and lower back in mind. Also the instructors don't know how to give constructive criticism. They are body shaming and make you feel stupid for asking any questions. Can't say enough positive about the daily instructors and staff at Seos. After starting for about 2 weeks, my daughter and I were pulled into these "check up" sit downs in the side offices. These sessions quickly changed to The Masters Club and how our student needed to enroll in these extra classes and instruction. These 2-4 year contracts added another $240/month to tuition for our 6 year old student. These check ups happened 9 more times in the first 5 weeks of our beginnings at Seos. To recap, $3k/year plus another $240/month for the Masters club to for the next 2-4 years. We completed our year commitment and said our goodbyes. Good intentions, bad sales practices.

She had an interest after 4 weeks of joining the classes at the Westminster office. When she began attending at the Westminster office is when I had an opportunity to go and watch her classes and see the program they have first hand. I was impressed. Its just not about Karate, its about other life skills she is learning. Yes, sir - Yes, Mam is used at all times in the class and although my daughter and her husband are a bit uncomfortable with their daughter calling them with this respect, I do not. Respect is missing in our culture, and the Martial Arts has a foundation based on respect. Learning about how to handle situations with strangers and how to protect yourself with your words was powerful learning for her and the other students. I told my Daughter I would pay for her training and when you look at the rate vs. the number of hours of training available it was very competitive to what Mom pays for her dancing. After several months, my granddaughter made the decision she wanted to pursue becoming a Black Belt. A packet of information was provided that talked about the committment needed over the next 4 to 6 years for her to obtain it. Now she is only 6 1/2 years old, but she is already is a high achiever in school, with Dancing and now with Karate. The owner and his wife, along with their staff, all who began Karate at Mile High at a younger age are good people. They take interest in the students and they make it fun. This past weekend was a special event of Saturday. A special class for the entire school was held where the students learned how to break boards! The first hour and half was learning how to visualize their goal, and practicing on cushioned hand pads held between two concrete blocks. By the end of the Special Event my granddaughter broke 3 boards as did many of the other students by themselves. And even those who were not able to on their own, got assistance from the instructions, who cradled their hands and "helped" them break the boards. The looks on kids faces even younger than my daughter, with now holding two boards where there was once one, was powerful. I have two sons who were in the Scouting program and both achieved and are Eagle Scouts. I see similarities in Scouting with the program at Mile High Karate. Character development was just as important in Scouting as was the camping and other activities. Same in Mile High Karate program. Just like Scouting, Karate is not for every kid's parents. Same held true in Scouting where some parents saw a commitment to go camping every month as a deal breaker. But the benefits in both program for those who stay with it can be life changing and can help mold them for later in life. I am grateful my granddaughter is in this program. She loves it and she likes the friends she has met.

After searching the internet, I found this traditional Aikido dojo located right here in Denver. We were so impressed with the size - not that size matters, but this dojo is 5 or 6 times bigger than the other small dojos I was considering and having a large mat to practice on allows the kids to flow, run, and move more freely, helping them to perfect their techniques without running into a wall. Also, this dojo wins hands down on perfecting such an authentic traditional feeling that it is like we are literally practicing Aikido in Japan. The quality of the instructors was another reason I ended up taking classes as well. I now have all three of my kids taking Aikido and I recommend it to parents who are interested in a safe, comfortable, and friendly environment with some of the best instructors I have found. Also, the kids classes are so affordable that even parents with larger families can afford to have all the kids taking lessons.
