I knew I had to write this review after my first Reiki appointment, but after my Reiki training class yesterday, I knew this had to write this immediately! I went in for my very first 60 minute Reiki appointment a couple weeks ago to deal with some stress due to drastic life changes. I have been feeling jumpy and "on-edge" for a while and needed some additional help/direction to provide relief. The space was incredibly cozy and all around felt good to be in. Immediately after meeting Marie, I knew she was a right fit. I appreciated her natural ability to make me feel right at home in a new space. The treatment itself was amazing. Having had smaller Reiki sessions before, I had an idea of what to expect, but during the full hour, I felt the tightness in my abdomen relax, and my breathing become easier. By the end of the hour, I was calm, glassy-eyed, and a little out of it (in a good way). I really feel that the treatment set the tone for how I coped with my stressors the following week. I didn't hold things in my body as much and felt calmer. Because I work in the health industry, I decided to also do a one-on-one Reiki training with Marie as well. I am still blown away by her kindness during the class. Not only did I receive amazing information and training, but the materials she gave me to study were very organized and well put together. We enjoyed talking about health and healing so much, that we did get off track with time (which I didn't mind because I was learning so much), but she was so kind in letting me hang out longer to get all the training I needed. I have been to several reiki practitioners throughout my life, but nothing could have prepared me for my experience with Marie. I had been going through a difficult time and was experiencing terrible anxiety. I had lost someone close to me, and my sweet dog of 15 years had just passed. I am a 25 year old guy. I was interested in experiencing and learning about Reiki and found Zaanti Reiki on Yelp. I emailed Marie and scheduled my first Reiki session with her. Upon arrival, I was greeted with a warm smile and glistening eyes by Reiki Master, Marie Kahle. Instantly, I felt connected and comforted in her presence. As soon as I laid down on the table, I could smell the aromatherapy scented sheets and feel the heat radiating from the bed and my body melted into relaxation. I had my very first reiki session ever with Marie. She is super joyous and energetic. She is also very knowledgable about reiki and other spiritual things. I felt some of the energy flowing through my body during the healing, and feel/felt very calm and clear afterwards too. I had to take away a star though because I felt that she was talking to me too much during the healing. Perhaps I should have spoken up. I kept falling into a deep trance but waking up out of it because she was chatting and asking me questions. It felt like I was getting super casual healing from one of my girlfriends. Maybe I should have told her I was wanting a more deep meditative experience. I did feel pretty nice afterwards, but I have to admit I felt like the talking was a distraction, and I felt it would have had even stronger effects had I been able to relax. I would still recommend her healing service because it was effective and informative. I'd especially recommend her for spiritual newbies who are leery of weird new-agey mystic-gypsy types. She is very down to earth and personable. I might explore other practitioners for a better fit for my healing, although I would imagine her classes are great because she is very cheerful, fun and knowledgable. I was fortunate to experience a reiki session with Marie last month. I was unsure what to expect as I had heard a little about reiki but had never had any personal experience. As soon as I walked in I was at ease as Marie is one of the most peaceful and kind people I have ever met. I was told what the session would involve and asked if I had any questions. I always feel like a weight has lifted and much calmer, lighter, less stressed (basically amazing!) after a session with her. Reiki with Marie has been something I have incorporated into my life. I am writing a review of Zaanti Reiki, particularly, Marie because I feel I have a truly remarkable story to tell. While I read Yelp reviews I don't review places/services hardly at all. So thanks to all of you Yelpers who are so diligent in reviewing. If I could give more stars I would!! How I came to see Marie was through a good friend of mine who was seeking Reiki for herself. She sent me a link and from there I had started searching the web for more info.I was diagnosed with breast cancer and was scheduled for a double mastectomy with reconstruction on May 22. I was really dreading the recovery process. My search on Reiki and surgery, mastectomy led me to several positive Reiki and surgeries articles. Called a few places in Chicago, left messages re: their experience with Reiki and mastectomies Only Marie called back a couple of days later. She wanted to do a little research for my situation. She was extremely honest and didn't make any promises but told me what Reiki can provide for me. She told me of Dr Oz who now uses Reiki before his surgeries. I made an appointment. I wanted a Reiki session BEFORE my surgery as many of the articles I read had people getting Reiki right before their surgeries. On May 20, I had my first session with Marie. When you meet Marie, it likes meeting a friend you haven't seen in a while. She's very friendly, kind and makes you feel so at ease. For Reiki all you do is lay down and relax! Marie does the rest! My session was an hour long. I am here to tell you about my results of Reiki. On May 22 I had my surgery. I had talked to several survivors who told me that I would be on Vicodin for probably 1-2 weeks due to the pain. I was also told I may have an extreme sore throat from the breathing tube, possibly no appetite for a while, possible nausea or headache, constipation from the meds and of course pain! When I woke up in the recovery room, the nurse was concerned with my pain management and throat. I had no sore throat, dryness and hoarseness but no discomfort whatsoever! No nausea. I was given a pump of Demerol by the nurse and taken to my room. The pump of Demerol was self-administering...I didn't use the pump once during my overnight and almost next day stay. The catheter located between my new breasts that automatically pumps a localized pain med directly I asked to be removed the next day...even though I was highly encouraged to keep it for that day and next...It was removed at noon on Thursday, the 23. I also ate on Wednesday, and on Thursday with an appetite! While I had discomfort - anyone who has had this surgery can relate to the discomfort from the darn drains - I had 4, I wasn't having pain. I wanted to know what my pain was going to be like so I would know - I know this sounds silly but I needed to know what the point of no return was going to be like while in the hospital, Well, I wasn't taking Vicodin, only Tramadol,. I was given one in the hospital during the day, and one when I finally went home at 430. Still no pain. Discomfort for under surgery.my arms and one drain portal. But I also knew there is always some discomfort after On Friday, I stopped taking my Tramadol except at night and started with 400 mg of Ibuprofen every 6 hours. Everyone, including my doctors, and of course women who have gone thru this, and others who have had major surgery can not believe how little pain I had. I was walking up and down stairs Friday. Eating regularly and all other things regularly by Saturday - Memorial Day I was feeling the TE more but still no pain. When I am asked why do I think this is the case, the only thing I can attribute this to is my Reiki session!! I am in average shape at best, so it is not because I was in already great shape. Everything I read about Reiki and pain management from surgeries was true for me. One week later, 2 drains have been removed and I take ibuprofen when needed. Again women and men who have gone thru this know the discomfort of the drains, TE etc. But I never had pain, just typical discomfort according the nurses etc. I encourage anyone who is going to have major surgery to try a Reiki session with Marie. You have absolutely nothing to lose. If nothing else, you will walk away feeling refreshed and relaxed. Took my mom yesterday was having hip problems - she felt fantastic and still does. Do I think Reiki is a cure all - I don't know enough to know. All I know is that I had a Reiki session before my surgery and I walked away from my surgery with no pain. My healing has been uneventful other than my atypical experience. I wanted something other than pain meds to handle my pain and I got it. Reiki has been around a long time. Skeptics think what you will. I only know my own experience. Reiki worked for me. Thanks Marie for making my experience turn out more positive than expected!! read more

I recently started seeing Marie for Reiki treatments as part of my recovery from shoulder surgery. She helped me years ago after I broke my foot and remembered how much it helped. Even more effective this time around! Wow, has it made a big difference in pain management, keeping grounded through the healing process and even being able to sleep through the night. Not having a lot of experience with Reiki, I wasn't sure how long the benefits would last, but have been pleasantly surprised to find that a weekly treatment has done wonders thus far. I recently took a class in Reiki 2 and it change my life! Marie the Reiki Master was very serene and caring. The group was small which I loved and I met really wonderful people as well. The course involved group Reiki and all students were attuned with both Reiki masters Marie & Delphina. The attunement process felt like a deep meditation/Clearing sensation if that makes sense. My acupuncturist had told me about Marie and how well reviewed she was. I'm dealing with a lot of negative emotions such as anger, anxiety, and ptsd due to the loss of my daughter. I meditate, practice yoga and mindfulness, have good eat/sleep/exercise habits but I needed something more to help with all of these uncontrollable negative emotions. Chicago has been absolutely blessed with this wonderful new Reiki center with the most loving, peaceful, joyous, gifted healers. I had the great pleasure of taking Reiki attunement classes I and II in May 2011 with Delphina Aldama and Marie Kahle - the Reiki Masters of Zaanti. This experience was life-changing for me, and was one of the most incredibly beautiful experiences of my life. Delphina and Marie are very giving and gentle souls, and put together a very comprehensive Reiki training for our class. We learned the history of Reiki, including the lineage dating to M & D, we learned how to administer Reiki, what it means, the many avenues of self-healing and the healing of others that can open up to you upon attunement, we were able to practice on one another, and so much more - I could go on and on, it's difficult to put such a beautiful experience into words. I felt very energetically healed, open, and brimming with love upon leaving, and feel blessed to have made connections with my classmates and the instructors. I had been curious to try Reiki and booked an appointment to see Marie on my birthday and it was the best gift I could ever give myself! Marie is AMAZING.
