The windows RMK provides are really a step above anything I have seen in the replacement window…read moremarket place. Extremely nice frames and very efficient windows. For example, during a 90 degree day outside while taking down the window coverings, I could feel the heat radiate through the old windows prior to being replaced. Once the new windows were installed and while replacing the window coverings, the difference between the old and new heat radiating into the house was an order of magnitude lower than the old windows. Unfortunately I didn't get any thermal pictures to prove the point but honestly a drastic improvement. The service however; is another story - The windows were installed fine however the service after has been shoddy at best. One of the fascia pieces didn't stay "stuck" to the house and we asked that it be fixed. The installer came over and simply pressed it back in place. My response to him was that "I could have just pressed it back on, I want it replaced" as well as the way the calking stuck to the bottom of the piece caused a bulge in the bottom of the vinyl decorative piece. See picture, it's still not fixed. Another issue was that they say they will come back and clean around the windows after the installation is finished - My wife took the day off of work to accommodate the cleaning and was stood up; they were a no-show. Not cool - They could have at least contacted us to let us know they weren't able to make the appointment. We had to reschedule the appointment with them. These are the guys out of Clinton, Utah. Caveat emptor on this one. Be prepared to 1) review and fix any problems after the installers leave 2) manage these issues - Continually text and / or call them to make sure they follow through.

While I think they did a good job and I like their products, they were super expensive and I still had 14 more windows that needed to be replaced. In May of this year I started to seriously consider getting the rest replaced. Enter Alpine Exteriors. They provided the third bid and landed in the middle price wise. They were considerably less expensive than Champion (no surprise) and slightly more expensive than a no name company that came out selling cheap quality windows. But Alpine Exteriors quality, service, and selection really stood out. I met with the owner, Hiram Molloy, at my home and there was zero sales pressure and no games. He has access to a number of different windows at all different price points, so he was able to find something in my budget and a quality I was happy with. They were installed a couple weeks ago and that was the real test. I'm pretty OCD and I want perfection. I'm never fully satisfied because that would be impossible, but the installers did a nice job. They were friendly and detail oriented. I asked a lot of questions and spent a fair amount of time watching the install and they were courteous and obviously knew what they were doing. They also cleaned up the mess and used preventative measures around my furniture to keep the mess at a minimum. Upon final cleanup they collected all the stickers from the windows and placed them on copy paper so I could apply for the rebate. Hiram followed through on his promise and mailed me all the rebate paperwork with instructions. If you are looking for a quality window company that offers a competitive price and does what they say they are going to do, look no further than Alpine Exteriors.

The wood around them is now warping, apparently the installer caulked in the peephole. Again, 2 kids came out, changed out bottom peephole, used a ton of caulking and actually took the liberty to cut the wood out in odd little squares. I have been trying to get them back to fix the mess for weeks. The guy I have talked to is arrogant and condescending. Such a bad experience with Homestar, Milgards windows are great, Homestar installation, etc is not. At 71, I do not deserve to be treated like this, sick to my stomach, just hire some competent help and remember who you are working for, the customer.​​​​​​​
