Our visit to Zafferano was thanks to the hotel staff who recommended it highly, and for good reason. The decor was a fresh modern with large splashes of canvas adorning the exposed brick walls, didgeridoos (as you do when designing the interior of a restaurant) and an entire wall of poinsettia plants growing from plastic pockets and fed from IV tubes.
We were greeted by warm staff and a glass of prosecco before being presented with menus and a plate of little zucchini balls to prepare our palates for the tasty dinner ahead.
Monsieur praised his plate of fish carpaccio (cernia, swordfish, salmon) highly, whilst my cernia tartare was so delicate that it seemed to evaporate on my tongue. The main of tournedos for Monsieur sccented the air around us with its orange sauce, and my sea urchin and roe pasta was a perfect portion with just the right amount of everything to give it equilibrium.
The wine list was extensive with a special interest in local wines. We loved our bottle of viognier from Planeta and the way that our glasses seemed to top themselves up, so discreet were the waiters in their attention.
Highly recommended but make sure your credit card is empty before going here because it isn't exactly the cheapest of establishments. read more
