I was a little embarrassed as I explained that I had brought a piece of costume jewelry that needed a repair in the chain, that it wasn't valuable except to me because a beloved friend had given it to me. The young woman that greeted me was reassuring and asked to see the necklace. She put it under her jeweler's light and magnifying glass and was able to repair it as I waited. If you have ever had a sentimental piece that you thought was ruined, and someone was able to repair it you will have an idea of the joy I felt when she handed the necklace back to me and I slipped it around my neck. This is what I know, from now on I will be stopping in at this lovely shop for any gifts I need. In this past year, I have made a personal commitment to avoid shopping online and instead I want to support local shop owners. They are the ones that invest in our community and I want to honor that. My reception and service that I experienced at "The Velvet Case" has increased my commitment to stop there first and I will be back often to celebrate birthdays, graduations, weddings, and new babies.
