I first became aware of Zamzows about 3 years ago when our lawn started to die. Tried several times to bring samples down, but nothing helped. Not blaming the store or their products, but with a dead yard, my opinion went dormant until now. In keeping the faith, we have a brand new yard which cost a lot of mo way to get restored, and I'm trusting that the Zamzows product line will make this new investment thrive. I've interacted with a few of the staff, and I make no bones about being nervous of ensuring the yard will last. They've all been very helpful and understanding of my needs and concerns. I came back to this Zamzow's to give it one more chance. After the manager asked me to. It was a big failure. They sold me a fungicide and an applicator to go with it. The applicator box they handed me was taped up with blue tape and looked like a return, but I took it anyway. When I went to use it the pieces did not fit together correctly. It's an hour trip for me to go back so I tried calling them. As usual I just got a recording saying they were too busy and I left a message, which they never returned. I ended up calling another Zamzows that was very friendly and helpful. I brought the sprayer to them. They could not put it together either so they exchanged a new one for me that worked. When I got home and I put the fungicide in it, it sprayed the stream of a needle. I have two large pine trees, which they saw in the pictures I showed them. Using this would have been like trying to fill a swimming pool with an eyedropper. It would've taken me forever, and I couldn't even reach most of the tree with the tiny stream spray. Why they would sell that to spray trees is beyond me anyway I had to go back again. The same lady that works at the grass table with long dark gray hair, in her 50s helped me again. She didn't have an explanation nor did she care, but she did give me my money back. I now have a bottle of fungicide that I have nothing to apply it with. I would give 5 stars for the friendly staff. However the cost of my Christmas tree was so expensive and when I got home I was very disappointed that they didn't trim the lower branches. I also bought a stand but I have to do major sawing or cutting in order to fit it in the stand. I don't have these tools and now have to find some to borrow. The best I could do with my small trimmers is shown. They put the tree in the back of the car before I saw it. Otherwise I would have asked them to better prepare the tree for the stand. There was a mix-up, caused by another Zamzows store. I was supposed to receive 8 bags of Huma Green and only received 2 bags, from the other Nampa store. I did not get the second pick up, which was 2 bags of fertilizer. Ken, the manager was great! He fixed the problem and stayed with me, until he figured out the problem. He invited me into his office, and looked at the computer and solved my problem. He treated me like a rock star! Wow! They sure talk a big talk on the radio commercials, but the people in the garden department had no clue. You can't hardly find anybody to help you and when you do the employee had no clue about the vegetable gardening products. And was unable to help at all. I asked if they had anyone else that was available to help and they said they were the only ones. His exact quote, "I know how to kill weeds" by the time I had left I had tried my best on my own to figure out what I needed. At a cost of $250 because I have no idea what I did need or didn't to help my raised garden bed that was depleted of many different nutrients.... read more

I always get great customer service at Zamzows on Franklin in Nampa. The store on the blvd in Nampa is not as good.

I had previously owned folding tomato cages made by Oregon Wire Products. These are top quality cages and I had several for over 15 years. When we moved we left them behind, boy were we sorry. We started inquiring who carried these and found that Zamzows does. This location was out of them, however Nolan Guthrie nguthrie@zamzows.com took the time during their busy season and located 5 of them for us. Not only did he locate them he stayed in communication with me as he was looking for them, he then had them transferred to this location with 3 days we were able to pick them up. We use Zamzows yearly yard program and have the best yard we have ever had. We would and do recommend this family own business to others. Keep up the good work read more

I am updating the poor review I wrote for Zamzows on 9-30-17 because they did everything within their power to make it right. The same day that I wrote my initial review on Yelp, I also emailed the Zamzows corporate office to let them know of my experience. I honestly didn't expect them to make any effort to fix it. My communication was mostly just to vent my frustration. To my surprise, the Nampa Store Manager (Ken) not only came out to our home to survey the lawn, but also helped us fix it. Ken spent his own time, after his shift at the store, to help us rake and re-seed our lawn! He supplied the grass seed, the fertilizer, and even the compost. I've spent about twenty years working retail, and I can honestly say that I have never before seen this level of commitment to customer service! Ken was polite, sincere, and honestly just wanted to fix our lawn. Perhaps most importantly, at least to me, was that Ken didn't try to make any excuses. He didn't "pass the buck" up to corporate or blame inexperienced employees. Instead, Ken simply apologized and tried to make it right. Wow! Impressive! You just don't see that attitude in business any more. We will be back to Zamzows next season not because our lawn looked great this year, but because I know that, if I ever do have a problem, Zamzows will do everything within their power to make it right. read more

The only reason that this location got two stars is due to their friendly cashiers and the way they treat animals that accompany their owners to the store. Unfortunately, not everyone is as pleasant as the cashiers. I went in for a specific type of insecticide and stood in the aisle looking for quite a while. The guy (who I believe is the manager: tall, short dark hair, square glasses) nearest to me was on the phone with a customer. I made eye contact, he acknowledged me, and I waited to ask for the product I was in search of. He hung up the phone and walked away. When he came back he helped two other customers before coming back to me and said "I'm ready for you now." Uhhhhh. Ok. I asked him for the product and he said they didn't have it. He handed me something else and said "this is the same thing." I asked if it was safe for pets and people like the brand I originally came in for and he said "it should be." It should be? That's reassuring when I could potentially poison the whole household. Then he walked away. I had about four more questions to ask about the product that he shoved at me. Turns out the product he gave me is NOT safe for animals and is pretty caustic to humans as well. Not only that, it doesn't even get rid of the ants I'm having issues with! This store is always stocked with everything I need and a great selection of pet and garden merchandise. It's always busy but that's ok. I'm always treated well and after a couple negative experiences at the Franklin store, I only come here now. read more

After recently moving to the area, and with a degree in Horticulture I thought I should see what plant material is available. Now I do realize that that growing season is not the same everywhere, but to calked this business a Nursery / Greenhouse, not. It's more like a pet and feed store that sells s ok me plants. When I need feed, or pet supplies I will be back. For pant material I will go elsewhere. read more

This Zamzows can get pretty busy but the sales associates are always helpful and knowledgeable. I've taken my dog to get groomed here and they do a good job. Their lawn products (which are usually why I come here) are top notch, and if you're a black thumb like I am, they're easy to use and most are not harmful to people or pets. Every year I find myself here in the spring to ask about a tree fungus or how to get rid of weeds. I would rather spend my money here (it is a bit pricier) than go to a big box store and get inferior/mediocre/poisonous lawn and garden products! read more

I was so excited to go in and see what you all had for pets. I have been hearing your add campaign on the radio for weeks. I walked into the Caldwell location and first let me say that your staff was very sweet. The building drew us in, we wanted to look at everything. But then I got to the pets. Shame on whoever is in charge of caring for them! The animals were stressed, THEY HAD NO FOOD! Just empty shells. There were perches on the ground and a ladder that have been there for a while due to all the poop incrusted on them. It was disgusting that the cages had not been cleaned in at least a week. Gross! And you should be embarrassed! I know you have been in business for a long time, so your doing something right. But not with the pets. Get someone in that position who will actually do their job. If you can't find someone then look me up on Facebook and message me. I will take the position. I own my own business and make 300 an hour but I will gladly come and get this department into shape and make the pets more desirable to customers. Pets should be happy and treated well or they will not make good pets. I will be back in a week or so to see if there are any improvements. read more

My husband and I have been going to the Nampa Zamzows for year's, the cashiers there are great. But we went there this Monday to get our Christmas tree, we pick it out, the lady said "Go in and pay for it and we'll cut the bottom off for you." So we go in pay for it and get the kids out of the fish area.We're in our truck leaving when a young male employee comes running up the side of the truck saying "you didn't pay for that tree" I tell him "Yes we did!" he says "When" So my husband shows him the receipt he glances at it throws it back at my husband and walks off no "Sorry" nothing! Brought my cocker spaniel here to be groomed and I was so impressed! The lady who groomed my dog was so nice. All of the other store staff were really nice as well! I am so happy with my dogs haircut! I will definitely be back! read more

I recently tried changing my cats food, I had been getting a "natural" kind from Fred Meyer then realized it was super unhealthy for my poor babie. So I decided to try out one of the zamzows brand from this store, unfortunately my cats refused to eat and I could not find my receipt and I went into the store hoping I could return or exchange it and to my surprise they did let me exchange it! The man who helped us pick a new food, I believe his name was Rick, was super helpful and suggested a brand of cat food. We purchased his recommendation and my cats LOVED it. I purchase 2 or 3, 5 gallon buckets of thrive every year for the last 10 years. Thrive works great but when you get 5 gallons of weak tea, there is a problem. I took my bucket back to the nampa store and voiced my complaint. The manager was very arrogant, he said they sell 1000s of gallons of thrive and never had a complaint. He then said, " what do you expect me to do, the residue in your bucket looks good to me "! Well l was not expecting anything for free, just a good explanation would have worked! Anyone else with the same problem?? $80.00 bucks a bucket is to much to pay, for 5 gallons of arrogance!!!! read more
