They have a well-stocked bar and a selection of seasonal cocktails. They are however limited in their craft beer selection. They only have 5 taps and unfortunately the beer selection is not all craft. There is a nice seating area with plush comfy chairs around a fireplace. Two large screen TVs are mounted on each side of the fireplace make this an excellent spot for viewing sporting events. In some corners you can even find an intimate spot. They have a bar menu consisting of dollar oysters including your choice of Blue Pointe and James River. They also make flatbreads. You can also order off of the menu of the adjoining restaurant the Signature. When it is warmer you can also sit outside on the patio and enjoy the view or the sunset and take advantage of their happy hour specials.

I'm so excited that they have opened up a new brunch spot in Pelham! We visited about an hour…read morebefore closing on a Sunday, hoping to miss the church crowd, and we were successful! The space is by Taco Mac, and the new construction is bright, open, and welcoming. They have a pet friendly patio. I got the deep fried French toast, and while I'm more of a fan of traditional French toast, this was still pretty good, with the perfect amount of whipped cream and berries. My boyfriend's breakfast burrito was DELICIOUS, I'll be getting that next time. Definitely a welcome addition to Pelham's breakfast and brunch scene!

I'm a sucker for cocktails at any hour so I tried the Citrus mint Spritz . It was ok . Drinks once again are not their specialty but they are trying so I do appreciate that! I tried shrimp and grits this time w/red eye gravy. The gravy had a sort of vinegar taste and filled with bacon. I liked it better than the shrimp honestly. I would get it again sans the shrimp. I think I just don't like shrimp for breakfast lol. My husband got chicken and waffles. The waffle is thick and the chicken is lightly breaded. The chicken is the top thing to get here!!! It's not heavily battered and they filleted the chicken breast. No legs, or thighs here. We personally liked this. Service was fast and friendly. She always checked on us . We appreciate this. All in all it checked all my boxes 1. Good food 2. Good and fast service 3. Friendly employees 4. Clean bathrooms Unlike elites who think I don't give 5 star reviews to local places . I do indeed . I just have certain standards. They met them this time and that's why they get my coveted 5 * this visit. CONGRATS!!!! You deserve it !

The bartender was friendly and she fixed some darn good drinks. They have live music, a plus in my book. They also have outside seating. We started with fried oysters and fried crab claws, both could have been seasoned a little more, other than that they were pretty tasty. I ordered the twice baked tater with chicken and it was surprisingly good and loaded with chicken. My husband had the 1/2 rack of ribs with baked beans and macaroni and cheese. The ribs were very tender but needed more smoke flavor. The baked beans were not good; lacked flavor and tasted like canned pork and beans. The mac and cheese was decent, nothing to brag about. The owner/manager stopped by and apologized for the wait. It took a while for our appetizers to arrive. I appreciate the fact that he took the time to address the wait as he did with other customers. Our server was friendly, very attentive and also apologized for the wait. We do plan on returning to try other items on the menu and to have a good drink.

It was most recently Palm & Pig. I tried it when it was Palm and Pig and I thought it was rather good. Hillside is located near the Vestavia City Center right next to Bob's Power Equipment, which ironically has been in that location for over 20 years at least. Hillside is located on at the end of a small strip so they have a nice outdoor space with a covered patio. It's great for a guitar player and with big heaters is even pleasant to sit out there (when it wasn't Hillside). The interior is quite large despite the small entrance. It extends quite far to the back. They have a nice little bar and a good side stage for their many live performers. In fact their very model for this restaurant thrives on live performers with "Band Inquiries Call 205-901-2225" centered on their menu! Our party arrived on bustling Friday evening. Luckily we didn't have to wait long at all and got a table right away. Our server arrived quickly and got our drink orders. There wasn't a performer but the place was loud with chatter. While we were there, a two man guitar group started setting up. Our drinks arrived promptly and our orders taken. About 15 minutes later our food arrived. Matthew tried the Diablo burger. I had to have a bite and it was spicy as promised. Their "Dooom a -que" sauce wasn't bad. Tammy and Jack tried the Philly. Shaved ribeye, caramelized onions and topped with American cheese on a cuban roll. It also wasn't bad. Plentiful grilled beef and good bread. Sarah had the Hillside burger. It was also good and burger a nice medium. I tried the shrimp poboy. Lettuce, onion, pickle were topped with 6 perfectly fried shrimp in a slightly toasted hoagie bun. After I lathered it with the smoked tomoato aioli sauce which was served on the side, I took my first bite and was impressed. I've had worse and this poboy was quite enjoyable! Yom Yom Yom. We also really enjoyed the "okra fries". The cucumber salad was rather underwhelming and the fries were soggy and undersalted. Surprisingly none of us tried any of their bbq. A good reason to return. We had a good time and had great service. If you enjoy good ole southern comfort food and good live entertainment, give Hillside a try.
