I have serious love hate relationship with Zara. Love: on any given occasion I can probably go there and find some thing. There are always great midi cocktail dresses, a closet staple for me. I can depend on them to give me a nice seasonal selection of boho chic options, cute jogger sets for the auntie me. They are also my go-to for quality graphic tees that are a notch up from Target. Occasionally, I'll also grab a perfume from there. Don't knock it until you try it. Yes, I splurge on expensive brands but Zara has a knack for blending some beautiful notes that are soft and feminine that works for me. Okay, here's what I don't like: the store is always overcrowded. Yes, that's good for business but base on the smell, the ventilation isn't the best. On a number of occasions I've actually gone there and they were closed because of power outages. Not the mall; just them. No bueno. Upgrade your systems to support your growth. They can never seem to tame the return line. The fitting room is a whole other story. They appear to be adequately staff; it just never feels like the staff is being utilized as efficiently as possible. I ordered a cream 2 piece outfit online from Zara. The item arrived stained and I was told by a customer service agent that they would not refund the shipping and handling cost. Basically I have to eat the cost of being shipped a stained item that was clearly worn. That is unacceptable and poor business practice. Walked in and got stared down with a stank face by some dark skinned girl and tall (west indie) guy who were fixing the clothes. The guy told me they were closed and I asked if they closed at 5:52pm or 6pm, he then sucked his teeth and turned around to then mumble something. I love the chain outlet store Zara! Their prices are fantastic and there clothes fit me really well and they have Such a great selection! I love the majority of their merchandise and for anyone on a budget they definitely can look hip and stylish for a great price and collect an amazing wardrobe. My problem is with this store and for several reasons. Employees! Their staff there are horrible and it's actually comical how bad they truly are. They have I don't give a hoot attitude with everyone. (Looking to spend their hard earned money) When Trying to look for a sales person to help you find something they usually will just point in some direction without looking at you and often if you say excuse me they pretend they didn't hear you and keep walking right past you. I've never had an employee behave like they actually cared, it was always like you were bothering them and they had no qualms about giving you a very annoyed luck. None of the employees have ever been friendly in the half a dozen times that I've ever walked into that store to shop and I'm not hard to please or Demanding. The last time I was there I was looking for a specific pair of slacks I wanted. I was actually wearing the pants (I owned) I went up to a woman who seemed more concerned about you not touching her merchandise because apparently she didn't like the idea of having to re-fold it the correct way. I showed her the slacks I was wearing and asked where they were. She said she didn't know and then said oh I don't think we have those anymore and if we do they're over there and she pointed her finger in some direction. I then proceeded to tell her I had just called the store yesterday and the girl told me there were several pairs on the rack in my size as well as in the back storage room. She looked at me annoyed that she had to actually do her job. I then said maybe they're downstairs because that's where they were at the Zara in Manhattan. she went downstairs came back upstairs with two pairs of pants in a medium and I think a large. I looked at her and said Remember I need an extra small. (i'm sure she wasn't even listening when I said that) Mind you I'm 5'9 and 110 pounds I don't know how she possibly thought that I was a medium or a large, even after I told her I need an extra small. She then went to walk away and I said it's OK I'll do it myself but she had to go downstairs anyway to put the pants back (instead of initially just directing me downstairs she came up with clothes, none of it made any sense.) Sure enough I go downstairs to the rack there is an extra small. She gave some nervous laugh and just walked away. I went to the register to pay for my item, the cashier there was busy chatting to a coworker at the other end of the counter so she was speaking loudly and at the same time she was on a personal telephone call. So I could see how she would have zero time or patience to want to actually give any good customer service to a customer while she's at work. Well, She didn't look at me she just rang up the item and then told me what the price was never once looking at me. She behaved like I kicked her dog or owed her money. The Fact is None of the employees ever smile at customers and never make customers feel welcome at this location. Another thing that I'm bothered by is a woman I know who is in fashion for many years. She is beautiful well-dressed but older maybe late 40s or early 50s. She applied for a job here about six months ago and they didn't hire her. And She has an incredible resume in sales and fashion. I was Shocked! I personally think they discriminate based on Age and Race because there was NO reason why the manager who interviewed her should've not hired her. she told me that he even said we will call you back for a second interview. they never got back in touch with her. So aside from losing a potential good employee they definitely are not a equal opportunity employer at that store! If you can stay away from the Zara there's so many other great Zara locations where you will get excellent customer service and if you're looking for a job they won't discriminate you based on your age or your race. read more

This is the WORST Zara on planet Earth! This Zara makes Walmart look like Neiman Marcus. I actually vowed never to step foot in this particular location bc of a bad experience I had last year however I had no choice since I had to make an online return & I do not have the time to go to the city to do so. So what happened last year? Well long story short (it's gonna be long), I saw this skirt displayed on a mannequin and was only able to find a size L. I saw a guy pretending to fold clothes and asked if he could help me. He looked annoyed AF and reluctantly followed me to the mannequin. I asked where I could find this skirt and he said he didn't know. I asked if he could find out and he randomly stopped his co-worker who walked past and that guy told me it's upstairs. I head upstairs and I see a guy & a girl folding clothes & bitching about life, and I asked if they know where I could find this skirt. They told me the other side (thanks for being so laser specific). I go to the other side of the store and asked another employee there where this skirt was & she told me she doesn't know, but maybe downstairs. I then went to the register where the manager was lecturing her cashiers about removing sensors. I asked the manager if she could check in the system if they had any XS or S left in this skirt & she told me to wait. She then calls someone and asked them to bring me the skirt from downstairs, and guess who ended up bringing it up? The same dumbass who told me to find the skirt upstairs. And he brought up a size M, I was so pissed I just walked out. So fast forward to today, I walked into Zara and had flashbacks of last time. I head straight down the escalator bc if you didn't know, returns can only be done downstairs. I get to the lower level and the line was so long that it almost reached to the very back of the store. The line was so long I couldn't even see how many registers were open. At the 30 min mark, I was able to see 3 slow cashiers up front and about 10 other employees walking around putting clothes back on the racks. It's funny how they always have a million people on the floor yet the store is so messy and disorganized and no one knows where anything is. When I was about to reach the serpentine, I saw one of the cashiers get off the cash register and started organizing the returned items and if that wasn't bad enough, she started chatting with the other 2 cashiers and slowing them down even more. Then, another employee came by with a Subway soda cup and started chatting with them and time just stood still. I looked behind me and I couldn't even see where the line ended. When I finally reached the register after 49 min, I told the cashier I had a return and took out the items and had the e-receipt ready for her to scan. And she completely ignored me. I stood there holding out my phone for 5 minutes before she actually scanned it. Then she proceeded to put sensors and hangers on each item before she gave me a return receipt. And she gave it to me with such anger that I thought she wanted to fight me. When I went back upstairs to GTF outta there, the line upstairs was just as horrendous! Why are there only 2 cashiers? The store is a mess anyways, open all the registers when there is a long line, I'm pretty sure the clothes can wait to be put back out on the racks. I finally arrived to the door of Zara to find this completely miserable woman working there at the door denying me to enter the store because they were "CLOSED". It was currently 6:57pm. She said I couldn't come in cause they close at 7pm and I explained to this uneducated human that technically \ it's not even 7pm yet so she cant deny me access to the store. I WAS ONLY THERE FOR A RETURN. She continued with her stupid "MAM I CANT LET YOU IN" lame excuse. When I asked to speak to a manager she claimed to be the manager which I highly doubt cause managers accomModate their customers especially when they are right. Clearly this review isn't about the clothes considering it's Zara and I absolutely love their selection as does many other people but more about the service. Let's be straightforward here...the service SUCKS. The staff makes it very clear how miserable they are working in retail, which sucks but at the end of the day you cannot have that attitude in the work environment. Almost all of my jobs have been in retail and even when you deal with countless annoying customers I still had to suck it up. There have been so many times when asking for help etc. I am so nice and patient and they are still so rude, so what's your excuse for the constant attitude? Another thing, when you ask for help finding an item they always respond with "we have those all over the store" which I get but in the city locations I notice they actually look up the product on their phone to see where and if it's in stock. In the Long Island locations I've noticed just pure laziness. Lastly, for Christ's sake PUT MORE THAN TWO PEOPLE ON THE REGISTER WHEN THE LINE HAS 15 PEOPLE ON IT. This store is busy. I went there today. Bottom level cool. Top level hot as hell. Went to the fitting room upstairs and of course a line to wait in a very hot store. Get on line to purchase something of course there is one person at the register and at least 10 people in front of me waiting forever to pay and roasting at the same time. That one person at the register says there is self check out downstairs. A few of us run down the escalator to a cooler level and there is nobody on line for self check out. Unfortunately the check out register is locked, so we have to wait for an employee to unlock each register which of course took a few minutes. You place all the items in the bottom of the station and then it calculates what you purchase. Then you have to remove each security tag yourself before it pops out a receipt. Of course, not all the tags could be removed so you had to wait for the employee to help you for each item that did not work in the removal machine. Finally I was able to get out of there. I couldn't run out fast enough. NEVER AGAIN! read more

I brought a holiday Christmas gift for my Sister , the coat was too small , I had misplaced the receipt. Immediately after Christmas I returned to Zara , The coat was brand new with tags never worn . I tried to exchange it and was told I could only exchange for the very same coat , cost and color.... of course they didn't have the next size I needed so I was told NO EXCHANGE for another item of equal value . This is the MOST horrible policy and customer service. What kind a company doesn't honor a credit or exchange. Dear Zara, I love your European fashion that's got an edgier look than most, yet affordable to the average American. I am writing to you in regards to the staff at this Roosevelt Field location, the few that I have encountered on multiple visits here, have left me shaking my head in dismay. First and foremost, disorganized. For more times that I'd like, I feel like I'm surfing through the jungle here. Secondly, some of your staff are byfar the most unprofessional retail workers I have encountered. Aside from a few mediocre encounters that I can easily brush off, I have to give these primadonnas working at the fitting room upstairs a quick shout out. The line for the fitting room was endless, and my ears had the pleasure of being entertained by their high pitch vocals of their miserable lives and how they hate the customers and that nobody brings the hangers out. As I finally finished trying on my items, one girl had the audacity to snap and scream "Ma'am!" at me! WTF. Before I can question her, she turned towards her colleague and began talking about how this is what "they" do, (I can only imagine that she was referring to one of my clothes missing a hanger). I waited patiently, and her colleague caught sight of me standing next to Miss Miserable, we exchanged eye contact and I asked: "Is there a problem?" She was a bit taken back by me still standing next to her, she replied, "No." As a retail employee she should be well aware that some clothing are folded on tables and did not come with hangers (as the case with one of the sweaters I tried on). Secondly, she is in no position to raise her voice at a customer, nor is it professional of her to be outwardly complaining about customers openly with her BFF coworker.
