Full disclosure: I had no intention of going to Zara when I'd heard they'd opened, but on a recent trip to the mall to run a few errands, there it was: bright, shiny, big, new and surprisingly inviting. What lured me in was actually a gorgeous, chunky-knit tunic sweater. What got me to stay was that it was $49. $49! I'm not exactly what you'd call a bargain shopper. Sure, I love a good deal, but only if I'd be willing to pay full price for it, anyway. What's nice about Zara is you feel like you're in a cool European store that sells luxurious clothing, and then you go to pay for it and you spend 1/4 of what you'd expect to. This Zara is well-lit, enormous and very organized which appeals to me greatly. However, it was very apparent that they have just opened. There must have been 30 people working there, and it seemed as if only one or two of them actually knew what they were doing. With all the greeters, stock-checkers, cashiers and managers filling up that place, I was a tad surprised when it took a good 15 minutes for them to see if they had something in my size or not. It's all good -- call them growing pains and training opportunities, but it's definitely something they should be working on and ironing out. I was eyeing a few of their dresses on display and, while I didn't have the time to try them on, they caught my interest and were very beautiful. And stylish. And probably really, really inexpensive. I guess you could say I'm now excited about Zara. Who knew?

This is a beautiful store with a well curated selection of high quality, stylish goods. Now, I was…read morehere in the midst of winter, so they were stocked with sturdy leather boots, warm coats and super soft flannel shirts. This being more of a men's shop, I would have happily purchased one of everything for my husband's wardrobe, and he would have worn it all. However, the prices being what they are (totally reasonable for the quality of the items, please note) going on a binge shop here isn't exactly something I would do. If you're looking to invest in craftsmanship, and a quality piece that will last you for years to come, then this is absolutely the shop for you. The items here definitely all fall within a particular style: rugged yet stylish and well-tailored. I hate to say it, but this is the dream shop for a lumbersexual, if anyone actually considers themselves one of those. Barbour, Penfield, Woolrich, Arc'Teryx and Fred Perry pieces line the shelves and the shoe selection consists of Camper, Hunter, and Wolverine. Great stuff, and a good range of prices, too. There is a lovely, but very small, selection of women's clothing, shoes and bags, too. The store is open to an adjoining space called Paloma where I perused several Kate Spade and Mackage handbags, a Fred Perry parka that I covet, and a sweet little Barbour dress. They have women's Camper and Wolverine shoes, too -- much the same aesthetic but for ladies. Great shop, friendly staff that greets you and then lets you browse to your own beat. I like you, Downcity Outfitters. Next time I need a coat, a flannel or a great pair of boots, you'll be the first place I look.

At their new location in Pawtucket... Beyond bad customer…read moreservice!!! Called for days with no answer to find out if they had a Black Friday sale. After driving from Bristol we found a note on the door with a number to call for assistance. The man was not only un-accommodating but complained how busy and stressed with online orders he was. We were actual people standing outside their door and they wouldn't come down a few flights of stairs to sell us a jacket. Told us to drive back tomorrow....I think not.
