Let me tell you why.. When I had my first P&S experience, I was dealing with really bad cystic acne. I've always had acne and hit a very rough patch (no pun intended) as an adult.. it was really bad for me. Most of my adult acne would be around my jaw and chin line, and would often leaving scarring and significant discoloration. I was living in Seattle and had started seeing a dermatologist who recommended a oral medication that would totally dry out my skin, along with bringing a host of other serious side effects. I didn't really feel good about taking such a heavy duty medication, but I was also at my wits end with my skin. That's when I found P&S. My very first P&S facial was a basic version plus an add on of the sea salt microdermabrasion. I was also introduced to the power of face oils. I cannot tell you how amazing my skin looked and felt after that first visit. Plus my facialist taught me so much.. like how drying out my skin actually intensified my acne by making my skin go into overdrive with oil production that ended up clogging my pores and hence contributing to cystic acne. Ugh!! P&S also introduced me to a number of amazing skin care products that have become part of my routine.. some of my favorites are the face oils for skin challenges with rosacea and acne, the black mud and propolis creams, the vitamin C and algae serums, a pumpkin exfoliating mask, and the rosehip oil. I LOVE all these!! And since that very first P&S visit all those years ago, I've been a faithful customer. Every time I'm home (I still live in Seattle and get home a few times a year to visit my folks), a visit to P&S is a must!! I typically go to the King Street spa - the ladies there have been awesome! But just a few months ago they opened a Mississauga location and I'm in heaven!! My folks live in Lorne Park (community in Mississauga) and this newest P&S location is literally 10-12 minutes away. No more fighting traffic to get downtown and then having to figure out parking and the traffic on the return trip - yaayyy!!! The ladies in the Mississauga location are wonderful!! Friendly, informative and very down to earth. Both of my two services since they opened have been amazing, and I've been really happy with my product purchases! If you speak Spanish, definitely ask for Rigo so you can practice. THE APPOINTMENT: The Consultation: Rigo and I had a consultation and decided to dye my hair a darker red and add highlights. The Colour: Rigo definitely delivered on the highlights. I've been to other salons where they do the highlights and follow with dye washing out the highlights. Here, Rigo did both steps simultaneously and I can definitely see the highlights in the finished look. The Cut: The cut was ok. Rigo cut my hair well but I did notice one part that was a little long. It appears like the longest part of my hair is actually off center. I told him this after my appointment but he assured me I was wrong. Now that I've had the cut over a week I can confirm the part I thought was longer is a bit longer. He was also behind schedule of about 30 minutes and rushed at the end of my appointment and forgot to give me face shaping strands around my face. This is something I asked for at the beginning and he forgot. I noticed when I was home and I wasn't going to drive 2 hours to have him fix it. Would I go back? I probably would not go back. The salon is far from my house and I recently found my stylist from years ago who is the best hair dresser I ever had. Would I Recommend this salon for colour? Absolutely! I booked an appointment for a consultation, cut, highlight and style, with my mom who requested the same thing. Keep in mind it was $400 EACH for both of us. For starters, I felt like an inconvenience during my consultation (which I paid for) with the manager Joe, as he gave little input and just stood impatiently until I picked a colour. He didn't seem like he cared about his job at all, his vibe was off and he kept rushing away/disappearing for long periods throughout the process. He called my cowlick/sidepart "annoying," and randomly grabbed my phone out of my hand while I was texting and put it on the table (very odd). He also repeatedly insisted that our shampoos were awful, dramatizing the SLIGHT "heat" coming from our bleach foils to then hint towards his salons products. He also disappeared and left the foils on one side of my head for too long, which became apparent when one side came out slightly brighter. My hair looked nice... though almost the exact same as before and somehow streaky/uneven--NOT worth $400. Turns out, the right side of my hair was in fact an inch longer than the left... which I ended up fixing myself after being gaslighted by Joe who did a sloppy job. ALSO, my poor mom (her stylist was the owners wife, Amy) received unblended GREY highlights instead of the blonde ones she asked for, that looked nothing like her reference photo and aged her 10+ years.
