I've been here before, a few years ago. The woman who cut my hair did great so I decided to go back. What a mistake.. Went yesterday & I'll never be back & I'm sure they'll be happy abt that. My appt was at 1230 got sat finally at 1250ish & the stylist walked away to wash her other clients hair for 30 minutes while I sat in the chair. Finally got my hair touched at 115... & she spent 10 minutes maybe 5 cutting... I asked for face framing trim & some long layers in the back for my thick curly hair. She cut two inches, said she gave layers & cut two small strands around my face. Im in town from WV & looked forward to having my hair cut like Id had in the past from this salon & yal fell so short. Blasting Kirk Franklin but not treating all paying patrons as you did the others is disgusting. Thanks soooooo much for ruining my cruise and my birthday trip hair. read more

I called in a few weeks ago to get a wash and blow dry. I needed my hair washed prior to getting braids. I spoke with Karimah, who was very pleasant. I came in the day of my appointment 5 to 10 minutes prior to my appointment time. There was no greeter at the front desk nor did any of the stylists say hello. I assumed maybe because they were busy? After waiting about 15 minutes Karimah approached me. She was kind, asked what my needs were and proceeded to wash my hair. She talked me into a much needed trim too. I was nervous, I have a lot of thick natural hair, but she did a good job and my hair actually looked much healthier after the trim and blow out. Overall the service and the ladies in the shop are nice. Only gave 4 stars because the pricing is a bit high $123 for the blow out and trim. And I noticed a lot of the ladies, including myself did not have capes or a larger towel on while getting their hair washed. I got pretty wet getting my hair washed. Nothing big but I like being comfortable in the salon. Maybe a suggestion would be to get bigger towels for all clients in the salon. To cut the long story short, I will be back lol. read more

I made an appointment for a consultation. I showed Audrey some pics, we agreed on a style & I showed up 2 weeks later for my scheduled appointment. Unfortunately, I was the only one on time for my appointment. I waited 30 minutes at the coffee shop next door (QUE RICO) but, Audrey never arrived. And although I received multiple text messages confirming my appointment, I never received a text or call alerting me that Audrey would be late or needed to cancel. I'm thoroughly disappointed at the unprofessionalism of both the stylist and salon owner. Moving forward, I rebooked with Natural Trend Setters, and was blown away by the professionalism and promptness. There's something to be said for a business that respects your time. At the end of the day, I'm grateful Audrey never showed up, because my new look is turning heads! read more

I've been wearing my hair natural and it's very hard to manage, however whenever I get it done here I'm left feeling content with the results. I hate to write a bad review for any business, but I'm so disappointed. I was on a volunteer trip when I came into Florida just for 2 days to head out on another assignment.I made my appointment of course in advance, but when I arrived the stylist told me she called me the day before to cancel my appointment. She tried to give me another stylist,but I wasn't comfortable with the last minute change.She told me no problem,that she would do my hair.I appreciated her keeping her word.Also the hair wash was nice.Then, I asked for bra length Senegalese and they turned out to be down to my waist.I told her I never wear hair that long.I left the salon unhappy. On top of that, considering how she tried to cancel my appointment, She was telling another co-worker how she was going to cancel someone else's appointment so she could party on Sunday. I didn't find that professional. Here it's been only 2 weeks and my hair is coming apart and even some of the twists have slid from my roots. 2 have fallen out completely. This style is supposed to last 2 months! Money down the drain.So here I am trying to volunteer in Europe and I have no one to do my hair for the next month and a half. I made an appointment here on a whim after an IG post by Grecia caught my eye. It was by far the most amazing silk press I had ever seen! I made an appointment for 2 days after at 2:00 p.m. It's kind of odd that appointments are set in 2 hour blocks when you book them online. (This is relevant, I promise). First, please note that Zaria is a natural hair salon. When I was relaxed, I always expected to be at the salon on average, 5 hours. Now, I've designated Sundays as "Wash Day" as I am natural because, well, it too can take up my whole day to wash/style my 4c hair. So with that said, I walked in at 1:57 p.m. I was greeted by the receptionist and was offered water, wine/champagne, fruits, pastries, as it was Mother's Day weekend. Grecia was ready for me at 2:09. My hair was detangled, washed, blow dried, flat ironed, cut, I was told how to care for my hair, I took before and after photos, I paid my bill, said my goodbyes and was out by 3:57 p.m. I was in and out in less than 2 hours. The only downside to this was I had set aside my whole day and planned to meet friends for 7 p.m. and figured I would make it juuuuuuust in time haha. I had HOURS of free time after my appointment that I didn't know what to do. Zaria Salon is immaculate. The cleanest salon I have ever been to. There's a second waiting area in the back of the salon with a couch and flat screen television. When I walked in, one stylist was putting in braids, another was plaiting for a little girl, and another customer was getting her locks dyed. This salon is super chill, especially with the swanky smooth r&b music playing. It was fit for a Being Mary Jane scene, no lie lol. There is parking in the back, the staff is friendly, the quality of work by my stylist Grecia was impressive and I would recommend them time and time again. read more

My experience in this Salon was Outstanding! From the moment I stepped in, I was greeted with kindness and professionalism. I was offered coffee/ tea and some fruits to snack on. The young lady that was taking care of me had so much knowledge about natural hair and gave me great advices concerning my goals for my hair. She was so attentive to what I need ( I went to get a silk press). The manager was so nice, she kept checking up on all of her clients making sure everything was okay. This whole experience was a DISASTER. For starters my hair dresser was an HOUR late to the salon..that's right I waited an hour for her to even show up to our appointment. I proceed to tell her EXACTLY how I wanted my crochet done and she basically tells me she does this all the time as though my preference didn't matter. I specifically asked her to use a certain curl pattern in the back and then to mix them as she worked her way to the top. I also asked her to spread the crochet out so that she wouldn't use so much hair and the hair wouldn't be too big on my small head. She just blatantly ignored BOTH requests. By time she got dont my hair I looked like a bobble head mop. Side Note: I have been getting crochet done by a woman who TRULY knows what she's doing for 2+ years now, so I'm MORE than familiar as to how it's supposed to be done and how to maintain it and one of the things I love about crochet hair is it's the most water friendly/vacation hairstyle imaginable and i am always in Mexico (I will post pics of all the many correct installs I've gotten). In fact crochet hair doesn't even really look good till after it's first wash and so I ALWAYS wash it the first day or so to soften the curls and lay them down a bit. Anywho, the woman who's been doing my crochet moved away and that's the ONLY reason I ended up in this establishment. Back to my story: So once she's done braiding and crocheting my hair which took UNUSUALLY long... she started to try to "thin it out" by cutting a bunch of hair in the MIDDLE of the head to about 4-5 inches long when the hair was originally 24 inches. Needless to say this is NOT how you cut curly hair and actually made it look bigger and crazier..after BUTCHERING my hair and cutting it almost just below my shoulders when it was supposed to be down my back she finally ADMITTED she had no idea what she was doing and FACETIMED another stylist and had her try to tell her how to fix it over FaceTime. After butchering It some MORE she finally convinced the other stylist to drive in to help. The other stylist came and cut it into whatever shape she could by that point. It was better than the butchered cut but no where near what I wanted or asked for. After EIGHT HOURS of being in this HELL HOLE..and HOUR OF WHICH I waited for the tech to show up, and after having my hair BUTCHERED into a style i NEVER wanted, they STILL had the AUDACITY to charge me full price!!!! It gets worse: I didn't get around to washing it in the first days like I usually do bc i has been wearing it up bc the cut was so bad but by the end of the first week it was necessary. When washing crochet u don't get the braids wet and you have to comb through section by section as curly hair can get tangled. This particular crochet hair however was surprisingly cooperative and I was able to wash their hair and comb through it easily in record time. Only one problem! Apparently the woman who did my crochet did not secure A SINGLE SOLITARY BRAID in my head and from simply GENTLY combing thru the hair every single braid fell from wherever it was TUCKED UNDER (the unprofessionalism of tucking braids under other braids rather than sewing them down individually and neatly is simply TRIFLING, LAZY, and CLEAR CUT EVIDENCE that the tech Judith had NO IDEA how to do crochet despite them continuously saying she's the crochet girl in the shop) It gets WORSE: I texted the stylist showing her pics of how the braids fell out and I just assumed they would be happy to tell me to stop by to have them figure out how they can fix the situation and instead the front desk GIRL called back acting passive aggressive and defensive and trying to tell ME how crochet is supposed to be maintained after admitting to only having had it done ONCE herself by the same girl who butchered mine. Excuse me? I've been getting my hair crocheted for 2+ years CONSISTENTLY and after my original girl moved I've had some bad experiences but NONE of them were this bad! Never have my braids EVER fallen out of ANY extensions more or less crochet. I have been in mud slides, waterfalls, pools, oceans, and every other circumstance imaginable and NEVER had an issue w braids coming out and being visible more or less within a week!!! The girl continued to attempt to come up w excuses or reasons it could be MY FAULT the braids fell out and then proceeds to tell me if I come to get it fixed I will have to pay. I would NEVER give this place a single PENNY more of my money. They should have been BEGGING to fix the situation. This is why it's hard to support these kinds of businesses. They are FAKE NICE when they're taking your money but have ZERO accountability when they COMPLETELY FAIL at their job. Save your money and STAY FARRRRRA AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!! THEIR BUSINESS PRACTICES ARE JUST AS BAD AS THEIR STYLISTS WORK!!! read more

I think this is a very nice salon. Clean, professional. The fruit and juice for clients is a nice touch. If you have loose natural hair, I think you will find it meets your needs. If you have 4b or 4c hair, this probably isn't the place to get your silk press done. When I left the salon, my hair looked closer to a blow out than a press. Where's the "silk?" I had to wrap my hair with saran wrap at home just to get a semblance of shine and I've never had to do a silk wrap to achieve a shiny look. The stylist did a great job blowdrying, so my hair does have decent movement. It's the overall look I'm unhappy with. As a former straight natural, I have a certain expectation for how my hair should look and this press is one of the more mediocre ones I've ever had. FYI: They don't use hot combs, only flat irons. If you have type 4 hair, your roots are not going to get as straight as you'd like. Beautiful salon and very pleasant staff. This is my first time writing a review and its my honest opinion based on my experience. I wanted to get my hair braided and found Zaria salon through Yelp. Of course I checked out the reviews and it seemed like a great place to style my hair. There was only one review that concerned me, where another customer shared her bad experience concerning her braids and she rated them one star. I felt like ever customer is different and I decided to give them a try. Needless to say I absolutely regret going to Zaria Solan. I was at that salon for 7 hours ( my appointment was for 8am and I left the salon shortly after 3pm) to get Fulani Braids (first it shouldn't take that long and second it looked horrible). I honestly don't think the stylist knew what she was doing because other stylist kept checking in to see her progress. Based on bits and pieces of the conversation i gathered, it sounded like she was still learning, which totally upset me because if your charging $225 for braids you better be a professional at what you do. I showed her several pictures of what I wanted and we decided on a style but 7 hours later my hair looked nothing like the picture I showed her. She started my hair over and over again (approximately 3-4 times) saying oh the other way looked better. That right there should have been reason enough for me to leave but I didn't (I don't know what i was thinking). Don't get me wrong the stylist was a very nice person and the salon looked beautiful. They might be great at doing natural hair but the stylist did not know what she was doing in regards to braiding. By the time she was done I just wanted to leave because the situation was so ridiculous. In the end they gave me a discount for being a first time customer but I will definitely never go back. I wasn't too happy with my experience at Zaria. The beautician was experienced, but she didn't quite give me the look I was going for. I came to get my hair done for my birthday, and was not pleased initially. After leaving the salon, I went back to get it fixed since I was running low on time. We were able to fix it afterwards. If you come here, make sure the beautician sees a picture of what you want and you clearly explain what you are looking for. read more

I heard about this place when I was the Yellow Green Farmers Market. I decided to try it out because I needed a salon that was in distance and knew how to manage my natural hair. The ladies are extremely professional and each of them have their own specialties. My stylist is Grecia and she is amazing! She did a Wash n' Go and I received compliments from my workplace about it. What an awful experience today, Saturday, January 19th, my teenage daughter had a 12:30 appointment with Appoline. She arrived at 12:15pm. No one informed her that her stylist wasn't there due to an emergency until 2 hours later...after sitting in the salon for 5 1/2 hours my daughter left in tears and without a hairstyle. The receptionist told me on two separate phone calls that someone would be working on her hair .. that was a lie. We had used them in the past, but this was the last time..horrible treatment of a teenage girl. This place has potential but it's lacking in skill, specifically the stylist Audrey who I had seen a few times. I'm sure there are customers that leave with beautiful styles. Mine was never quite right, though my stylist attempted to rectify issues on most occasions. All the stylists currently there seem nice and they each seem to have their specialty. If you plan to dye or bleach your hair, your best bet is to go with Fatima or Diane. I am not familiar with any other stylist there. Audrey has never gotten my color 100% right the first try. Whenever she bleached my roots the color was darker than the rest of my hair. Other stylists know how to get this right, why can't she. This last visit, meaning I will never go back, she really did not know what she was doing and the other two stylists had to help her finish my hair and give suggestions to save the day. The final look actually came out nice after 4 hours in the salon, 3 rounds of bleach, my hair being 2 toned at one point, then purple because Audrey was not thoughtful enough to pick a proper toner...no lie, I felt traumatized after this experience. I have never felt so stressed in a salon in my life. I also did not appreciate the the lack of transparency when Audrey proceeded to put bleach on my hair for a 3rd time because she realized she turned my hair purple...which she did not even acknowledge until I mentioned it. And another stylist said she did not have to do that to get the purple out. Then Audrey went over to another customer...girl get back over here and fix my hair!!!! I went to the other two stylists for help and told them the look I came in for and whatever happened to bring my hair to this point. Audrey did not even want to fully do all the steps the other stylists recommended and tried to convince me that my hair looked nice with platinum blond ends and orange/brown roots. Girl are you crazy!!!Smh. Glad we followed through because like I said, the final look came out nice....praying and treating my hair to prevent damage from over processing. I think Audrey owns the salon. maybe she should take some more classes or let the other stylists serve the customers cause this experience was not it.
