The bean soup was perfect and came with a large slice of fluffy sweet cornbread. My husband said the gravy was the best he has had in recent memory and paired with the chicken and mashed potatoes, he would definitely come back for. The bbq ribs fell off the bone and my brother in law loved them. The coconut cream pie had mile high meringue and was light and coconutty with a flaky crust. The chocolate cake was deep dark and chocolaty! The blackberry cobbler was hot and delicious! Highly recommend this restaurant for food and ambiance!!

They place your order in a bag with your name on it at the door. You don't have to speak to anyone. Perfect! Walking up to this place feels like you're transported to another dimension. It doesn't feel like Louisville at all. The place was busy. Atmosphere was inviting. I could definitely hang out there while I eat. I'll try some more of their dishes but I do have a few things to note. The cost: It's downtown so an expectation of higher prices is expected. They do give you a decent portion size but with other options and the ultimate option of bringing your lunch with you, it's going to be hard for me to revisit this place in the future. I do hope I can give their breakfast a try if I'm down there early enough. Even with their breakfast, it better be DOUBLE GOOD because the PNC building has breakfast nearby and you can have an excellent breakfast there for 5-10 bucks. The food: Achiote Chicken Taco Bowl - White rice. Achiote Chicken Thigh. Diced tomato. Monterrey jack cheese. Sour Cream. Tortilla Chips. Avo smash. Cilantro. Charred pepper ranch. It was good but nothing really stuck out about it. Bites had flavor but eventually it turned into a bland dish. I ended up saving it for later time leftovers... but when trying to eat it later on in the day, it had that same bland taste that developed. I think the biggest issue with it was all the smashed avocado. It definitely didn't need so much. It ended up overpowering all the other flavors. It's a good spot to change it up from other options downtown but I can't rave about it until I come across my 'go-to' dish here at some point.

Enter the most delicious looking pizza covered in run of the mill black olives. So I returned to the checkout and questioned "what kind of olives are these". The check out clerk said "he said they were from a jar not a can" I pressed, as I've just paid $33 for a pizza. The cook came out of the kitchen to argue with me that jarred olives are not canned olives. I said, "That's a pretty ignorant thing to say." (I suppose he has never canned anything in his life.) He became highly offended and yelled "did you just call me ignorant" - to which I said "It is ignorance not to know that jarred olives are the same as canned olives." Solution options: The menu could be specific (green, kalamata, black, etc.) He could have compensated me for the incorrect pizza. He could have offered to make the pizza again. He could have been calm and apologetic at the beginning of the transaction. None of these options were on the table. It's a shame, since the pizza was delicious. But half my family cannot eat black olives. So, I wonder - do you think that a cook of a pizza joint founded on "recovery principles" that stamps bible verses all over their boxes loses their cool, and follows you out of the building - - do you think that you'd go back no matter how good the pizza was? When your five year old doesn't want to eat pizza, you know you've gone amiss. The concept is great, and I appreciated the thoughtfulness in pairing of ingredients, but the ratio of cheese/sauce/dough was off for me, and even as someone who likes a little carbon, it was far too burnt to enjoy. I was hoping for the ribeye but they had run out. The salmon was really nicely cooked. I got to try a bit of my friend's sausage pasta and that was delicious as well. Overall, really good experience. It's a little ways away, but I'm so excited to be back whenever I'm in the area!
