A dill pickle slice and a piece of white bread are also included in the meal deal, including a drink. The coating on the chicken tenders is crunchy and every bite had just the right amount of Tweener heat. The dipping sauce was tangy and helped mitigate the heat. The kale salad is one of my favorite sides and I order it whenever available. It is lightly dressed and has currants and almonds for added crunch and flavor. We were able to order on the app for quick pickup and even had accrued points to get an additional tender as a promotion, which was a nice surprise. It doesn't take long to generate enough points to garner a loyalty reward. Our order was prepped and ready for pickup when we arrived shortly thereafter. Staff were welcoming and friendly. I stopped and got a chicken tender combo, HOT, and it was perfection. The heat here is always an amazing combo of clearing out your sinuses, but carefully built flavor, too. How are these tenders so dang juicy? They brine them! How many spots that are doing chicken tenders do all that? I got their mashed potatoes and gravy. Delish! Also with a little kick. It's the time of year we look forward to eating the Cod Platter at Joella's. We love their fish. During Lent they serve a (fried) Cod Platter or Cod fish sandwich. I love trying hot chicken places so when I saw this one I immediately added it to my list. To be honest it wasn't all that I have read it to be. The chicken was ok- it wasn't dry but it wasn't really battered well. It was almost naked chicken tenders. The sauces (hot/tweener) had no spice level to us personally. We came in from Arizona and asked our friends who used to live in Kentucky where to get good fried chicken. They suggested Joella's. We decided to share the chicken and waffles as this was more of a late afternoon snack. It turned into our dinner as it was surprisingly filling. I've always been a sucker for some good fried chicken and any restaurant that specializes in chicken is one that I will always happily go to and try out. Joella's Hot Chicken is the newest of these such restaurant's that has found their way in Clarksville and ever since I noticed they were coming to town I have been patiently waiting for them to open and that time has finally came. This particular establishment is in what used to be. Blaze Pizza and it's layout works quite well. Joella's has a very friendly environment and their staff are always helpful and ready to cater to your chicken eating desires. Joella's has jumbo tenders and big wings and their menu features these two in a variety of different parings. Being as that I am a huge fan of chicken & waffles, which Joella's features on their menu, I, without hesitation, decided to try them and see what fast food chicken & waffles is all about. I was pleasantly surprised with the amount of flavor the waffles have about them, sprinkled with powered sugar and having some rather delicious maple syrup as well as butter. The jumbo tenders, which you can choose to have them made in several different heat levels, were rather tasty in the spiked honey that they were cooked in, the sauce I chose for dipping which was the Cheerwine BBQ, paired rather nicely and gave the tenders even more of a flavor. The desert comes in the form of pie-in-a-jar of which I went with the cookies and cream and has a very nice, creamy taste and one I highly recommend. This establishment does a great job of following COVID-19 recommendations and does a great job of maintaining a cleanly environment. If you happen to be in the area, you definitely want to stop and give Joella's Hot Chicken a try, your mouth will thank you for it. read more

Boylan's was known for their offerings of pure cane sugar cola, black cherry cola, and others. For me, offering what ever other restaurant offers takes away a unique option but apparently the public has spoken. I ordered the 2pc tenders with tweener sauce (a little spicy), and the kale salad side, which is slightly sweet and crunchy. As always, the chicken was flavorful and the kale was fresh. This weekend, with the glorious Spring sunshine and warm temperatures beckoning, my wife and I made a quick trip to Joella's, a visit we had been planning for sometime. As this was our first visit, my wife asked the cashier several questions about the food and was patiently answered in detail. We each opted for chicken tenders although I got mine fried and my wife opted for grilled. I chose both a sweet honey type sauce as well as the notorious "inferno" sauce, the highest heat level for sauces on their menu. For sides, I chose collard greens and mashed potatoes/gravy. So here's a breakdown of our experience: my chicken tenders were good sized and cooked nicely, and both side items were delicious. The inferno sauce had a super nice kick and was about as hot as advertised. The honey mustard was a yummy addition, as well. My chicken tenders had a nice flavor, but I would recommend for the price (a little over 8 bucks), maybe adding an additional tender. I am not a "big eater", but I did notice I was still hungry after dinner was polished off. My wife liked the flavor of everything but the grilled chicken, as a suggestion, could use a slightly different presentation, perhaps some grill marks, as her grilled chicken arrived looking a little plain n' pale. Those concerns aside, this is an establishment I would recommend for a decent little chicken basket at a pretty good price point, prompt and very courteous service, and, as a bonus, they have a little outside eating area on the side of the building that was appreciated on this mild Sunday afternoon. I had to do an update I have ate here 2 more times and unfortunately it was not near as tasty as the first time. What ever season was in my potatoes is gone and the just taste average now and the Mac and cheese was not nearly as creamy as the first time. I tried the sodas and was very disappointed. Most have a strange aftertaste like the birch beer. Of course I didn't get a 4th tender like the first time, but I didn't expect that. If you like untrimmed chicken thighs with an abundance of soggy breading, this is your place. And I really wanted to like this place. The sandwich uses a thigh (okay...different, but great IMHO), but it's untrimmed, so all the gristle and tendon and fat is left on for an impressively nauseating mouth feel. Throw in that the thigh portion of a chicken is a somewhat complicated system of muscles and spaces, and you get lots of places for breading to hang out and just be this soggy mix of flour and grease. I ended up picking out and scraping the meat pieces, just to get some food in me. The 'parm and garlic' fries are tasty, but just a soggy, lifeless mess. Had they been just a little crispy, I'd have given two stars. Sorry, but I would not eat here again. read more

So we have always been big Joella's fans , even before they open in Clarksville we would go to Frankfort ave for the tenders BUT we revisited the Clarksville store and to our surprise the prices have really gone up . Now I now everything has gone up due to inflation but the meals we normally get where $17 and our meal now is $26 and they even eliminated 1 side and still raised the prices . With tip our meal was over $30 and as much as I hate to say it , we probably won't be back , please rethink this price hike , normally this place is crowded but there was on 2 tables full and the waitress said it's been dead since the prices increased!!!! I went to Joella's got some of the worst service I have ever had and the worst chicken I have ever had i have had better chicken at cracker barrel and that is sad especially because this is a chicken place. my chicken was squishy and not fresh. Man! Chicken is sooooo good, but it's the sides that keep me coming back - specifically the kale salad (currants!) greens, and crispy shoestring fries! It's seriously, happily, become a once a week habit.
