Friday lunch, I went through the drive through and ordered a Chicken Bacon Ranch Quesadilla, no ranch, Zax's sauce on the quesadilla and Zac sauce for dipping, simple enough right? When you have someone who loves Zaxby's chicken fingers in a major way this is what happens. We had a major mission of maneuvering this huge truck into a spot close by here so that we could walk the rest of the way. Upon walking in we were greeted by a clean establishment and a short line that was beginning to grow. "Can we order the 20-piece tenders and a cheese bite". Do not eat here on July 6, 2021 this restaurant was closed for a total or nine health code violations, two was high priority including the presence of roaches and small flying insects in the food preparation area. I did eat here once. I purchased the zaxbys chicken sandwich and when I got home and bite into it, the chicken patty was raw. It's crazy to me that these managers do not overlook there restaurant in cleanliness and food preparation. It's starting to look like Marion Oaks fast food places are all unsanitary. Talk about consistency : this location consistently serves the worst lettuce I have ever seen for a salad. Two times it was yellow and bitter and then once all brown which I didn't even try to eat. We ordered and the Young lady behind the counter was mad about something else upon our arrival. We ordered and asked for large drinks. What a conflicted review... Let's start with the food - it is absolutely amazing. Zaxsby's has found the secret with preparing chicken. Whether grilled or fried, the chicken is moist and tender without being gummy or soggy. The breading is light, crisp and does not overwhelm the tenders. The fries are absolutely the best in the fast-food industry. Even the honey mustard is head and shoulders above the competition. The barbecue sauce isn't great, but you can't expect anyone to hit on all cylinders. Absolutely five-star quality fast food and at a reasonable price. The service on the other hand is horrible! After three visits to this location and a few visits to others in the area, the issues seem systemic. Maybe it's pay or hiring, whatever it is, Zaxsby's should really take a page from the chick-fil-a book on customer service. It took 25 minutes between placing our order and receiving our order. There were only 3 orders ahead of us and maybe a couple cars in drive thru so there wasn't an apparent reason for this delay. When our food finally was ready, since we were in a hurry that didn't account for a 25 minute wait, we asked for the order to go instead of for dine in. Somehow this prompted another 5 minute delay when they took our food back and into the kitchen to box it... I just asked for a bag so I don't know how that was necessary. Argh. At the top of my "I wish we had this in Canada"-list of fast food restaurants, Zaxby's is a pretty great fried chicken place I stop at on road trips in the South Eastern US. It's just well done and clean tasting lightly breaded fried chicken (minus the greasy taste you get sometimes Popeyes and KFC) served in a number of variations. The basic chicken tenders meal is 4-5 pieces of chicken, some ruffled fries with some cajun-y spices on them, coleslaw, and a piece of garlic toast. Super filling and awesome. The house dipping sauce that comes with everything is creamy and tangy...I usually dip my chicken, fries, and even occasionally my bread (haha) in it. They have salads (Zalads), sandwiches and a bunch of other meals with the fried chicken and they've all been great too. The only thing I haven't enjoyed there was the chicken wings, they were just average. Haha, might be a good thing there's none of these near me...I'd eat here way too much. read more

Stopped in while traveling. Arrived at 8:43 on a Friday night. It took 37 minutes before our order was handed to us. Apparently, they had "forgotten" our order. At promptly 9pm, trash cans were emptied and trays placed over them so nobody could use them. A single trash can (open, no lid) was put at the front counter where customers received their food. Seems very unprofessional AND unsanitary. When we finally received our order, it was presented to us in carry-out packaging (as was all other orders since 9pm). I'm guessing this was done so the employees wouldn't have to do dishes. Because my meal was in a carry-out container, I received 12 fries. Usually, there are at least twice that many when ordering in. The entire crew seemed relatively young and no manager seemed to be present. I had never been to Zaxby's since we have none in Miami. But in an attempt to evade Hurricane Irma we hightailed to Alabama and on the way ran into this delicious fast food eatery. Let me tell you I was pleasantly surprised, I really had no expectations since I was annoyed of being in a car for 8 hours but this was a real breath of fresh air from a long bumper to bumper drive up.
