I was super excited to get into the store to get some souvenirs. After a long car ride to get here from Lincoln, I asked to use the restroom and was told that the closest one was across the street at the train station. When I expressed surprise about the fact that they have to cross the street to use the restroom, the employee let me know that they do have one but not for customers. I think the store can be a little overwhelming at first because it's a lot of stuff in a kind of small store. If you've been there once, you've probably seen me a lot of things and not a lot of it changes. So Zeb's is exactly what the name says, a general store. You can get lots of locally made goods here, candy, sauces, jams, jellies, clothing, really just about anything. The one thing to note, is there is a big line to get in. Is waiting in this massive line worth it? You really don't see many huge bags leaving, so I think most people only end up buying a couple things, and will forever have the bragging rights that they made it in the store. The store is great. Weekends are wild due to the tourism. Long wait to checkout but they're super nice. Our friend told us to go and check out Zeb's General Store, which only opened in 1991, but has a serious following now. Oh my, what a delightful and charming store it was. It is a true general store that harkens back to yesteryear. The multilevel general store is chocked full of anything and everything you can think of wanting. We were thrilled to see an old soda fountain, penny candies, all kinds of foods, gifts, a large collection of New England-made specialty items situated among antique items. I loved loved loved this store and the staff that work here. There's a staff member at the door that explains the one way paths and she was so kind and welcoming. All staff wore masks, customers wore masks and it felt safe (as much as is possible during this time) inside the airy and roomy store. There were areas where customers congregated but that's not the fault of the staff. People are dumb. It was easy to escape those people though. The store itself has everything you could ever want to buy - and every thing your kids would want too. It was so fun for my kids to look through everything, and for a touristy stop, prices were more than fair. Zeb's rocks! Definitely always a go to for us, but the only thing that used to disappoint was how crowded it was and how it was often difficult to move around the store without bumping into people. Now that Zeb's is holding a line out front to lower capacity, the shopping experience was MUCH more pleasant. If I had a favorite tourist trap in the world, it would be Neuschwanstein Castle in Germany. Second to that is Zeb's here in New Hampshire. I've been coming to the White Mountains since I was a child and been coming to Zeb's for as long as I can remember. Usually when we come I end up spending more money than I wanted and bring home some more stuff to clutter my home office. You will be completely blown away the moment you walk in! I had heard so many great things about Zeb's, so it for sure was on my visit list. On day 1 in North Conway, my boyfriend and I went to visit, but there was a line going down the road to get in. The next day we got there about 15 minutes before they opened and there already was a small line forming. So we joined them. I didn't realize from the outside exactly how big this store was. 2 levels. So many offerings at reasonable tourist prices.
