One thing I really liked about the farmer's market is that it opens super early! It's also located near lots of coffee shops and breakfast places, so if you're needing a pick me up, there's lots of places to choose from! All of the vendors were super friendly and most offered different forms of payment (cash, card, venmo). There were some vendors who only accepted cash, however, there's several ATM's across the street!

The market is fully around the four sides of the capitol building as well as another off branch down a street for artisan goods. It was nice to see so many local vendors from all throughout Wisconsin. The variety of products being sold was impressive; from baked goods, breads, flowers, produce, honey, sauces, meats, popcorn, sweet treats, and no shortage of cheeses! It took us about 75 minutes to fully walk and enjoy the market. I could not recommend this market more to anyone visiting Madison! They were Mac Daddy Sandwich and Soo-Eee! We 5 friends shared and tried them along with the tomato soup that comes with it. I am ready to try the other flavors at the next event. La Duc's offered the Ice Cream Sandwich which is two large chocolate chip cookies with a delicious custard center. It was solidly frozen and we let it sit for a few minutes to soften up a bit. We then broke it up with spoons and ate it in yummy chunks which is just how it should be eaten, IMHO. The evening was packed with families with infants, children, parents, friends, and all ages. This is what a summer evening should be. Kids have a large sand play area and lots of grassy areas to run wild. And the fresh products for sale inside the store are always top quality and worth purchasing. My only glitch is how loud the music is, which negates the ease of conversations. We bring a table and card games and yelling to each other is needed to converse. We sit away from the band but it is still a bit loud. Last night the music was varied in genre and fun.

The farmers market is in downtown next to the library that has a free parking lot that was full. This is your typical farmers market with lots of fresh vegetables and next to no fruits but I did find a peach stand. The peaches were $10 a bag so I hope that they are really good because it's about $3.77 a pound. The market had a bbq stand and a cafe to snack on while you're there which I didn't have because I just left my breakfast spot. Nothing really grabbed me except the peaches so I didn't leave empty handed. I saw meat stands, dairy stands, fresh eggs, popcorn, jewelry, chiropractics, honey, root veggies, baked goods, cheese, flowers, soaps etc etc. This was a nice find and a well rounded farmers market but my standard complaint, very little fresh fruit because I always have fresh fruit at home more than veggies.

There were so many unique items to browse, from ornaments and décor to homemade treats. The food and drink options were fantastic -- local food trucks like EZ Tiki, Flip's Mini Donuts, Tots on the Street, and Milwaukee Pretzel Company, plus local beer, made it easy to snack while walking. The weather was decent, which made strolling through the market enjoyable, though it was definitely busy with lots of holiday shoppers. Live music and festive decorations added to the cheerful atmosphere. Parking was convenient with several nearby lots, and the layout made it easy to explore despite the crowds. We have been to a lot of markets: Cleveland, Detroit, Charleston, Cincinnati, we lived a few blocks away from Reading in Philly for two years. But best market in the US? That's a different league. Ironically it is literally the smallest market of them all. It's almost comforting because there aren't that many things to choose from. But, disappointing at the same time. There was a lovely souvenir spot. Very small but it has some cute shit. I got a shirt. GF got a sweatshirt. We then got coffee. There was a long line. That felt like a good sign. I got the nutty pedestrian which was good. GF got a frosty something. As a whore for anything mint flavored, I was expecting this to knock it out of the park but it wasn't as minty or as sweet as I would have preferred. Next, we went for the candy place and bakery. I was disappointed to not see one Kringle in this place. Oh well. The gigantic cookies would have to suffice. We got regular chocolate chip, oatmeal chocolate chip, and a Wisconsin something or other. The Wisconsin something or other had like walnuts, craisins, and chocolate chips. Delicious. The standard chocolate chip was fantastic as well. The candy was really good too. Finally, we topped everything off with empanadas which were spectacular. I reviewed that separately. Surprisingly small but a lot of value squeezed into the square footage.
