The first pair of glasses I bought a couple months ago from Zeifert didn't fit properly. The optometrists at Zeifert tried several times to get my glasses to fit. After multpile attempts to adjust my glasses and they still didn't fit, the optomet told me they needed to order me a brand new frame. How's that for a company that stands behind their products! Zeifert has been at the Renaissance place for several years and I have always admired them from the outside. The storefront looks lovely and inviting. We finally had an opportunity to visit Zeifert when my husband decided to get a new pair of glasses. There was no need for an eye exam so we only experienced the store portion. It is as lovely inside as outside. Clean and organized. The bad: The initial portion of our experience was awkward - it took them a moment to start talking to us and then they were very focused on getting all the details of my hubby's insurance. The lady who was dealing with us kept asking her co-worker if she found the insurance info yet, if she can confirm it, is it there, does he have insurance, do you have it, did you find it...? I am really not sure why was this so important as the insurance only covered small percentage of the glasses cost, we still had to pay most of the total price. The good: Once she confirmed the insurance details, her demeanor changed, she smiled and started helping us choosing the frames. From then on, our experience was great. They have a nice selection and it took us a while to settle on the winner. They even had his prescription strength in stock so we were able to have the complete glasses at home that evening. Prices: It is hard to judge if the prices here are much higher than at any other eye glasses store, however based on the location I would say yes. Definitely not a bargain place :) Overall: If price is not a deciding factor, I would recommend Zeifert for your eyeglasses needs. Hopefully they will learn to provide good customer service from the very beginning, regardless of your insurance ;) read more

I did not have a good experience with Ziefert Eye Care. My biggest problem is that I didn't feel that my eye exam addressed my concerns regarding my contact lens use. Dr. Ziefert did not examine me, but I felt that the person who did provide the exam didn't really hear/understand my concerns. About a year after my exam I received a call that I had a remaining balance. I had no idea that I had a balance and at this point, really don't even understand what the balance was for. To rub salt in the wound, my name was misspelled on the invoice. The whole experience just left a bad taste in my mouth. read more

I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Fostiak because I needed a consult in order to possibly help a family member who has macular degeneration. This was not an ordinary ask but I was feeling some anxiety about their condition and wanted to help my family member in any way that I could. Dr. Fostiak was extremely helpful and sincere. I had read previous reviews about her and what sent me on a mission to find her was her attention to eye health and prevention. The consult and advice Dr. Fostiak gave me were so very helpful and she proved to be everything the previous reviews said about her. She is so knowledgeable, patient, caring and sincere. And she knows and shares everything you might need to know about eye health, prevention, and maintenance as if she were a teacher who has earned many teaching awards. I was able to leave the appointment with more knowledge which helped ease my anxiety about my family member's condition. The office was getting remodeled when I was there but the colors were warm and comfortable and the size of the office is very spacious. The office staff was more than helpful with the logistics of the paperwork. I look forward to seeing Dr. Fostiak or any of her colleagues at the end of the year for my contac lens check. Dr Zeifert is 100% solid. The review below has no bearing on her. Stephania earns no stars. I had new lenses installed in 2 existing frames after an exam. My wife also had an exam and purchased a pair of glasses around the same time. I was told when I picked up my glasses that for the next year I could come in and have them adjusted if they didn't fit properly. 2 months after I had the new lenses I called to verify I could have them adjusted and was told to just come in. I drove from downtown Chicago only to be told by Stephania that these glasses were old. She ran them under water in the sink, handed them back to me, turned around and walked away. Absolutely rude especially considering my wife and I probably spent close to $1000. We are never going back. read more

If I could I would not even give one star. Mainly coz of the scam they just pulled. It's not about the $$ but for the unethical way they went about getting it. For a simple refill they called us into the clinic and then charged a fee for in patient visit. For a REFILL which was supposed to be done over the phone. If this isn't a scam I don't know what is. Please be aware and visit a different optometrist. This was for a minor inflammation and as informed by the doctor on our first visit, did not require a subsequent visit. The lady at the reception had even confirmed we won't be charged anything as this was a visit for only to confirm a refill of eye drop. And a month and half later they send us a bill of $85 for a bottle of REFILL for which we paid Walgreens anyways. Spurious and unethical business needs to be penalized for scamming clients. read more

Went in for glasses in 2020. All seemed good until I got the glasses and something was just off. Zeifert offered a re-do, which I accepted. But still, it just never seemed right. Then I developed a twitch in my left eye which I was later to learn from the strain put on them by my glasses. In short, I went to a different eye care place recently and they tried to measure the refraction on the glasses I had from Zeifert Turns out that Zeifert was off 7mm on the centering of my eye! Thus the enormous strain on my eye and the source of the twitch. I know have two pairs of glasses that are useless. very upsetting read more

I am a physician and had deterioration in my vision. Dr. Zeifert understands complicated prisms and after an incredibly thorough, sophisticated, state-of-the-art exam, Dr. Zeifert thought there might be a growth on one of my lenses. This is a difficult diagnosis to make and not initially recommending an expensive change in my glasses was not in her financial interest. She was correct and after surgery my vision improved dramatically. I have gone to national experts for double vision at both Rush and NMH. Dr. Zeifert is more knowledgeable about prisms than the vast majority of Ophthalmologists and Optometrists. She does what is right for you. If you live within driving distance to her office she is outstanding and I recommend you see her first for vision problems before seeing an Ophthalmologist. If you may need prisms she is uniquely qualified and sophisticated with prisms. I whole-heartedly recommend her without any reservations. read more

I started seeing Dr. Ziefert, because she carried Crizal and the types of frames that I like. Loved Stephania. Stephania's gone. My favorite frame brands are gone. I like Dr. Zeifert, but the glasses I wear on a daily basis take top priority for me. I only see the actual doctor 1x per year. I interact with my glasses 365x per year. If she doesn't have the glasses I want, and I don't like the eyeglass fitters, I have to move on. read more

I am very satisfied with the exam performed by Dr. Zeifert. The doctor was able to assist me with answers to all my questions, she helped me to resolve my condition and found the best prescription for my eyes. I have been seeing Dr. Zeifert for about 5 years now - she is an amazing diagnostician, she explain things so clearly and she has a wealth of common sense options to try. She truly knows her stuff and is incredibly patient and kind. I can't recommend her enough (and I am not easy to fit with contacts or glasses - many optometrists couldn't fit me before her). We have been using Zeifert for a few years now. My wife struggled with her progressive prescription from the her ophthalmologist. However, Zeifert's optician was able to correct the prescription and she is a happy camper. I order my contacts through them (we have VSP) and we have purchased progressive regular/sun glasses from them. Their service is OUTSTANDING and they work to get you the best price using your vision plan. This morning (6.13.20), Stephanie worked with me to order new progressive glasses (back up for my 5 year old pair) and progressive sunglasses. I followed Dr. Zeifert from her previous practice because I was so happy with her. She is a great listener, is always respectful of her patients' time, and is very thorough. There have been times where it would have been easy for her to upsell a product or service, but she never does that.
