I've been a customer here since 2003, so this review is long overdue…read more I stopped by yesterday 8/1/2023. One of the tiny screws on the side of my glasses came loose and fell out, and Miguel fixed it right away. I purchased these frames here back in 2020, every time I have been here for new glasses they have a great selection of frames, and everyone here has always been very nice, kind, and professional. The true definition of a five-star experience.

The lab is the worse, too. Besides breaking every one my old pairs, this lab would take forever (weeks and sometimes months) to send my glasses back to me. Between COVID and having an unreasonable stash of daily contacts, I put off my eye exam for longer than I should have. I really need new glasses, though, and had some urgency around spending HSA money that was rolled over during the pandemic. Scheduling was easy peasy - I made my appointment on the website and received a confirmation quickly, which included instructions on completing new patient paperwork online in advance. I received a text reminder of my appointment the day before. I was greeted right away, given a few additional forms to fill out, and then taken in back for initial testing. I waited in the lobby for a few minutes before my exam with Dr. Udesky. It was a brief wait and, honestly, the highlight of my day because I got to see how sweetly Dr. Udesky and his team interacted with the patient before me - a little girl who appeared to be four or five years old. She wanted her "eye pictures" to take home and they printed copies for her before sending her off with a fist bump. My exam was great and Dr. Udesky was friendly and warm. I asked a few questions about my current daily contacts, whether contacts or glasses would be better while staring at computer monitors all day, etc. He also gave me some helpful insight into my eye health relative to a medical condition and understanding long term care. I'd been on the fence about ordering glasses or going with an Internet retailer but, genuinely, Dr. Udesky offers competitive pricing (at least in this scenario where I was also committed to ordering contacts). Maria helped me choose frames and I'm excited for them to come in, particularly after years of being unhappy with my glasses from another retailer that bent and were misshapen almost immediately. She was knowledgeable, took my feedback into consideration, and selected the winning pair. I suppose I should mention that I don't have glasses or contacts in hand so this could change, but given how positive my experience was, I'm currently a happy customer and glad to support a local Northbrook doctor and his team. (For the record, I was also sent off with a fist bump and an elbow bump so that doesn't appear to be exclusively for the kids.) :)

The store was completely empty except for us, yet we were never greeted or offered any assistance. One of the women in the back stayed seated and barely looked up from her iPad. The only interaction we had was a quick "goodbye" as we were leaving. Overall, it was a pretty odd experience. I'm not sure why the vibe felt so off, but if I return, I'd likely shop online or visit the Woodfield location instead, where the staff has been much more friendly and accommodating.

Everything is super new and clean, with the new facility offering twice as many frames and items as the old place. They even fixed the ramps in the parking lot for easier accessibility!!!!

The 40s have brought bags to my eyes among many other joys of aging (i partly blame my 3 children…read more:)). One of my friends mentioned she had a great consultation with Dr. Tamara Fountain about a lower blepharoplasty so I decided to do the same. I also noticed that she was highly recommended on a fb group i had joined all about blepharoplasty, although the pics of people post surgery on that fb group were enough to make me want to cancel my appointment. I was able to get an appointment a few weeks after calling. Her office is conveniently located near my house, which I liked since the other doctors i was referred to were in the city or far suburbs. I was seen within minutes of arriving for my appointment. They did an eyesight test which i wasn't expecting and didn't put my contacts in that morning (and my glasses were in the car). So i highly recommend bringing any corrective eyewear you have. Dr. Fountain did a great job of explaining why i have bags (thank you genetics). She then told me she didn't think I needed surgery for many years and I really appreciated her honesty. She did show me some more post surgery pics to properly scare me about future surgery, but I do appreciate knowing what I would be getting myself into. She suggested looking into med spa treatments and even gave me some names (one located within her office) and said to come back years from now...and in the meantime to send my mom. :) Overall, I was really impressed with the way she explained everything and her honesty. I'd highly recommend if on the hunt for an ophthalmologist.

She performed ptosis repair on one eye, and an upper bleph on both eyes. The ptosis correction was…read moreovercorrected. Post-op , I asked her if there was a revision available. She reached for her "Horrors of Possible Risks Picture Binder," and told me I was welcome to consult with another surgeon. Meanwhile, that eye didn't fully close. I had dry eye, constantly. That eye CROSSED if I opened my eyes wide. I was advised by my ophthalmologist to "wait a while to see if it settles down." It didn't. Another (excellent) oculoplastic surgeon performed corrective surgery (to the corrective surgery), and removed scar tissue. That mostly improved the eye crossing, but the eye still doesn't close when I sleep. I now have to have further surgery to severe my orbitalis muscle and re-attach it, then possibly another surgery for repair if that causes droopy eye. All of this is covered by my insurance, and my insurance surely would have paid Dr Fountain. ANY plastic surgeon I've consulted performs revisions if something goes haywire. But, not Dr. Fountain. RUN!
