Enjoyed the Opera Parallèle - La Belle et la Bête. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Great show , beautiful hall , friendly staff .[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Great location to take public transportation or ride share .

If you don't know your way to this hall, you will get confused. Google maps directed me to backside of Zellerbach Hall. And even with that, you had to walk into the parks to figure out where this place was. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was a good venue for Shen Yun performance. We had really good seats to watch the show[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. One of the acts did have me perplexed... the way I saw that performance was... Man meets woman. Fall in love. Gets married. Goes to big protest together. Man gets arrested. Mans eyes are harvested from the government. Man released and can't see. Wife doesn't recognize husband. Buddhist is the mans savior and returns his eyesight. Man and women reunited and are together again. Yea... weird, right? I've vowed never to watch this show again. Venue was nice though. Garage parking is across the street. Very convenient.

I have longed to see The Alvin Ailey Dance Theatre since I was a teen. It was a pleasant surprise when I was told we would be attending! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The Hall is nice.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The staff is very attentive & eager to assist. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The acoustics inside were perfect.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The seating is a bit tight but not uncomfortable.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They offer light snacks & beverages. There are parking garages and food choices all around. Pay close attention to the parking garage signs, especially their Business Hours. All of them aren't 24hrs. I learned firsthand. Pics & videos aren't allowed ;-) so you'll have to take my word for it that it's a great venue. We look forward to visiting again.

I really enjoy this space. Once you find parking you want, it is easy to get to and not far from the street. It is lovely inside and the staff is always ready to provide programs and point out the best way to get to your seat. I love that the entire stage is viewable from most if not all the seats and the acoustics are really good so you don't miss a beat from the phenomenal orchestra. Those who have a harder time being mobile may want to consider booking the floor seats since most of the seating on the upper levels requires stairs.

Came to see a show and it was a great venue! Good acoustics, and good staffing. There was a lot of people working the event to help direct us to our seats. Looking forward to attending more events!

I was just there for Miami City Ballet performance last Sunday. The weather was very nice. Walking from Bart station to the venue was quite pleasant. This has been my second experience and I have happily found that getting the most expensive seats are not necessarily. I checked different areas of seats. The balcony center seats are even better for ballet since the venue is not as big those ones in San Francisco. The stage was actually too small for ballets. The dancers were a bit cramped on the stage and seemed clotted together and couldn't perform the piece in the best way. However, I really appreciate the wonderful day! Looking forward to the next nice program.

(Pre-COVID review). Been to a couple events here now (TEDxBerkeley and Shen Yun) and the entrance space is really beautiful. Once in you are greeted by high ceilings and a ton of light pouring in from the second story windows. The non-theatre part has space for vendors to set up if you ever host an interactive event that involves multiple vendors. I would say the bathrooms need a real upgrade though. I dreaded every time I had to go. They feel like restrooms in a very old college classroom building.

The nice young woman in the box office said we could probably sit inside while we waited for the doors to open to the auditorium.

I'd never been to a Berkeley Repertory show until this year. I'm surprised because I'm such a big…read moretheatre nerd. I was served an ad on Instagram for Arthur Miller's All My Sons in March 2026. It stars Jimmy Smits (of Star Wars and the West Wing fame! That's my President Santos and Bail Organa!) and his wife Wanda DeJesus. Such big names! I took my mom to a weekday matinee. It was a packed house and skewed older (hey, it was a weekday.) The theatre was clean and intimate. There was no bad seat in there! They did have a young person's discount if you're under 35 which was nice (if you're under 35.) Maybe if Berkeley built more housing, the city would be more welcoming and inclusive to young people and there wouldn't be that discount. Bathrooms were clean. After the show (which was a tearjerker), there was a Postshow Discussion with a docent (a UC Berkeley grad student.) It was fun discussing the show with other attendees who stayed. It was like a book club! Intimate and inclusive, and then there was a surprise--Jimmy Smits and Wanda DeJesus came to listen and contribute to the conversation! (And then do autographs and photographs.) Berkeley Repertory is a community hub. I appreciate their shows and the discussions they evoke (and the space they provide to have said discussions.) The SF Chronicle raved about All My Sons and I could not rave about it more either! Time to reread Arthur Miller and also support local theatre!

So much of the world did not make it through, even institutions. I'm glad this theatre is still around. It is as good as before. Shotgun Players actually is better. During the pandemic, they renovated. I thought that from looking around, and I googled for news articles to confirm. I also learned they are considered, with Berkeley Rep and Aurora, one of the Big Three in town. We subscribed again. I want to support local live theatre. I don't even reside in the Bay Area anymore. But my wife does. We're in the area enough weekends to want to catch more than one show. We go with another couple. The matinees are a favorite. We received free soft drinks as regulars, and a chocolate. The poster art, with murals to match on the side of the building, are by R. Black. They also have a set of tarot cards. I was not able to find too much more about the person. I am glad Shotgun Players has such a consistent look and feel. A note about the seating. I mentioned earlier my favorite, row L, which consists of bar stools for a high top table. They won't be for everyone. Your feet will be dangling. All of the other rows are benches with long cushions underneath and individual pillow cushions behind. The legroom is great. You are not cramped as at most venues. The truth is following the lockdown, we are not out as much for cultural events. But I am always interested in what Shotgun Players is doing. If you have the least interest in seeing performers on stage, I recommend them with enthusiasm.
