Let's start from the booking, I messaged the company on yelp and they got back to me immediately the following business day. They answered all my questions and booked me over the phone. My whole experience was amazing. I texted day of for an appointment and got a response quickly. Was able to get a same day appointment. Location pulls up weird on the map but using the satellite view on google maps helped. When you walk in, the dark atmosphere was actually really pleasant. Was greeted immediately and was brought water right away. Talked with my massuese Natina about what I came in for, pressure, injuries, etc. Table was very comfortable, room was soothing. Massage was perfect, gentle at times and firm where needed. The extras they use push this above my expectations. She asked to work a few minutes longer on a trouble area which was great. She was quiet throughout and very gentle to not startle you. Felt great after the massage and opted to have tea and chocolate afterwards. This place is the best! My fiancée booked me a 70 minute massage for my birthday and it was amazing! The space is beautiful, clean and so relaxing just walking in. I worked with Amber. She was friendly, professional and attentive to my requests for more pressure. I even went in with a bad sunburn but she was able to work with me by cooling the hot stones down a bit and making sure I wasn't uncomfortable at any point. Today, I was a first timer at Zen Blend on Slaughter. I've had a lot of soreness from amping up my workout game, and needed a relaxing, yet effective muscle massage. My buddy in Houston wanted it to be on him, so he purchased the gift card through the website, and I texted Zen to set up the appointment. I love this option... Texting allows you to think about the time of appointment, and schedule without pressure. At 2:45, I showed up, parked in the nice little covered area, and transcended from the bright lights of the outside world, into a calm, dark serene waiting room. My eyes readjusted, and tranquility became the new theme. Annette greeted me, ran my gift card, and took me upstairs. I got undressed- yes butt naked cause I have no shame.. And the first thing I noticed was the amazing, warm bed I laid on. I felt like I was in the movie cocoon, all nestled and waiting for the main event. The room itself was quiet-- with only wind chimes relaxing my mind into a sweet blissful state. I loved that the room was really dark, cause I've been in some with disruptive light. This room was perfect in every way. I was a little lax in telling Annette to focus on anything, and left it to her to determine the pressure and places. To my surprise she showed my glutes were the most tense area on my body. Learning something new? Okay! But there was something special about Annette. My mind tends to race when I'm laying there, and no matter how hard I tried to place where she was standing, I couldn't. She moved to quietly, and breathlessly, that I had no idea on how she was placed over me. That amazed me! What an excellent therapist! I was beyond relaxed when the massage ended, and energized! What a hidden gem! We were so happy to find this place! The current precautions in place put us at ease. We texted them upon arrival in the parking lot to make sure we didn't bump into anyone who was departing their appointment. They checked our temperatures and provided sanitizer. The place is already very clean to begin with so this was comforting! We booked a couples massage but first had some time in the infrared sauna which was a first for us. Best massage ever. Licensed massage therapists are always superior, and Zen Blend is a cut above the rest. Had to call out of work today a few hours in because this pandemic tension was getting too thick to cut through. Recently gave up all my vices for spiritual reasons, and a massage was the sole healthy outlet I could think of. A person can exercise and meditate for only so long. Seemingly every establishment in the South Austin area was booked solid on 8/25/20, including Zen Blend. Before today could be defined by disappointment, I received a pleasant notification that an opening was suddenly available at 1:30pm. Perfect timing. I promptly took my courtesy shower and headed over. I was met by Amber, a phenomenal sports massage therapist and perhaps the G.O.A.T. in her specialty field. Her passion is evident through and through. Their Covid precautionary measures are extensive and comprehensive, quickly easing my mind to set the stage for my body to follow. If you have any attention to detail, the feng shui and interior design will satisfy the senses. I gave her the rundown on my Work From Home-related ailments, and she swiftly formulated an excellent strategy right down to the aromatherapy specifics (if massage-induced congestion is ever an issue, request Eucalyptus; works like a charm). As an ambivert, I enjoy a good conversation and Amber was more than happy to oblige. However, if you're too shy or introverted, she's also aware that silence is golden. The #1 reason I'm willing to shell out extra for the licensed therapist is because they fully understand how our muscles are interwoven in the big picture. For example, our main focus was the severe crick in the back-right of my neck. Her magical hands worked wonders when caressing that spot directly, but what impressed me more was hitting them pressure points on my upper back and towards the top of my spine. It's super effective. She did this one thing where I rested the weight of my head on her thumbs... the instant relief was euphoric. I may or may not have let out an awkward moan. I'm writing all of this after the most blissful and divine nap, still riding the highs of Amber's heavenly touch. I've received many massages from Zen Blend over the years, I can't believe I'm just now writing this review! For starters, I had a bad massage experience at another business 15+ years ago so I was in no hurry to try it again. But a friend gifted me a massage at Zen Blend eight years ago, so I decided to give it a shot. I expressed concerns to Kristy about my anxiety and she put me at ease and provided the most wonderful massage I'd ever experienced. I've been a loyal customer since. First and foremost, this place is the epitome of Zen. The scheduling is super easy and they've always offered plenty of appointment times to choose from. The parking is convenient and you enter into a calm, beautiful place lit by salt lamps. Even the bathrooms are calming (I didn't know that was even possible). I've had several massage therapists over the years at Zen Blend and every single one has been amazing. There's NO upselling, only a brief get-to-know-you session and questions about your massage preferences. Once the massage begins you are offered an assortment of aromatherapy options which kick it off. The rooms are very private with zero distractions (part of what contributed to my massage anxiety 15 years ago). They are good sized rooms, so I don't feel closed in. They are also dimly lit with quiet music playing in the background. The tables are super comfy with soft sheets & blankets. The massage pressure has always been perfect. Each massage therapist has checked in during the beginning of the massage to see if I preferred lighter or deeper pressure and has adjusted accordingly. From that point forward, it is 75 minutes of pure bliss. I'm not chatty, so they aren't chatty. Perhaps they would be if you wanted to talk through the experience, but I'm not about all that. After the massage is finished you are brought to a (beautiful) separate area, given a warm, wet towel and offered tea/water/wine/chocolate. It's a wonderful time to take a minute to come back to earth before going on about your way (hopefully home to enjoy the rest of your relaxing day). I feel like it's important to mention - a couple of years ago my mom witnessed a drive-by shooting at Walgreens. It completely freaked her out and she was suffering from some PTSD symptoms and couldn't shake it off. I called Zen Blend and spoke to Kristy's husband (I can't remember his name) and asked if maybe a massage would help. He said my mom experienced a rush to her adrenal glands and a massage could help release them (or something like that - my anatomy knowledge is seriously lacking). They were able to get my mom in the next day. During her massage with Kristy, my mom felt herself start to break down and cry. She ended up having a huge release of emotions, which Kristy gently and patiently helped her through. They finished the massage and my mom felt 1000% better and also became a customer for life. My reason for sharing is that not only are Zen Blend massages the ultimate in relaxation, they are also extremely therapeutic. Whatever you need, I'm confident Zen Blend can provide. I've joked that even if I were to move out of Austin, I'd still have to make a quarterly trip back just to get my massages, as there's nowhere else I'd ever feel this comfortable. read more

I'm giving 5 stars for both massage sessions in November 2018 (Amber) and January of this year (Natina). My first experience was with Amber and she was absolutely amazing! Very lively conversation while the massage was in progress. I do kickboxing as well as heavy weight lifting so I needed firm pressure in key areas (shoulders, back, neck) and Amber went above and beyond to smooth out those muscles to where they felt relaxed and loose after the session was over. It was so good, I promised myself I'd get another massage there at the beginning of the year. Natina was my masseuse for the January session and she too was simply phenomenal! Just like Amber, Natina had no problems providing firm pressure to the areas I needed the most attention and even though it was firm, it was so relaxing. I ordered the Samadhi package both times and I don't see myself straying from this selection as the hot stones treatment is just divine!
