I agreed to service based on reasonable cost of service. After 4th treatment 1 1/2 month later I was told that I had a balance 3 times the original planned expense. I spoke to the office manager (which was the dentist's wife) and she said it was an estimate and that they had not gotten back confirmation of benefits until 1 full month after first submission to insurance. I had paid $29.80 per visit and I should have paid $74 per visit and therefore on my last visit, I had an outstanding balance of $120 plus 4th visit price of $74. I was furious because this was not even in the ballpark and I understand there could be a variance but not 300% the original planned costs. She kept making excuses and never once offered an adequate apology or solution. I told her to charge me whatever she felt she needed to and sure it enough it was the 300% more than quoted. I paid and vowed to never step foot in that practice based on the gross negligence of the staff to accurately reflect their costs. They baited and switched the cost of service in their practice, they probably do it all the time especially with Medicaid or Medicare to take advantage of people and the Gov't.

After my X-rays and photos were taken, the dentist discussed my treatment plan while there were four other staff members in the room. I found this extremely uncomfortable and overwhelming, especially for a private healthcare discussion. Afterward, I was taken into an office to discuss costs. Instead of focusing on my immediate concerns, I was presented with a treatment plan totaling nearly $9,000. It felt more like sitting in a sales office at a dealership than being at a dental appointment. When I explained that I only wanted to pay for today's visit and was not interested in moving forward with the proposed treatment at that time, I felt pressured to finance the procedures and repeatedly asked why I wasn't proceeding. The interaction became even more upsetting when a manager made a comment along the lines of, "Well, it's your health, not mine. You're the one with six cavities." Regardless of the condition of a patient's teeth, no one should feel judged, pressured, or shamed into making a financial decision on the spot. I left feeling frustrated, embarrassed, and in tears. I understand dental treatment can be expensive, but patients deserve to be treated with compassion, respect, and without high-pressure sales tactics. Unfortunately, that was not my experience here. Also, the manager said I owed $126 for today's visit and then after I said no after everything; she claimed I owed $315 and that my insurance company would send a check of difference. I've had my insurance for 2+ years and I've never had that happen anywhere I've been. I'll definitely be reporting them if I don't receive my check in the mail.

July, I received a statement from a credit company where The lake Family Dental made a credit card under my name for a total of $8,000 and payment was due. I called both offices, I was told that is how they work. I am paying $280 monthly. By October my Dentures came in. They were painful to use so they asked me to come the next day. I shared I WAS NOT happy with them; the teeth were so little. I kept telling Dr. Alvarado my concerns, but he was so rude telling me the teeth look good for women my age and I needed to get a facelift or fillers. He questioned me why I wanted such big buck teeth. I kept saying I was unhappy with the dentures, he just kept arguing and persisting. I didn't know what to do so I put my head down, crying, wanted to walk out of the room, but I wouldn't have teeth. After a while Dr Alvarado said OK if you want big buck teeth, I will make them SO BIG so everyone can see what you wanted. He made me feel so bad I cried and that is when he stopped yelling at me. They said they would only fix the top ones, not the bottom ones. The Bottom ones have a metal bar in them that can't get adjusted, so that is what causes pain/discomfort. When I went to pick up the dentures I spoke to the Finance person, before going to the room and told her how the Doctor had treated me and that I dissatisfied with the teeth. She called in a manger where they tried to convince me the Doctor is in a lot of stress/frustration. I told her he still doesn't have the right to speak to me the way he had. The tech in the room was the same as before and stated everything was true. January my dentures came in, and they made me sign a paper they are not going to replace/adjust them. I have not used them since because they are painful and I am too scared to return. I am still paying $280 monthly and using my old dentures. I have never experienced this.

There is certainly something to be said about great service! Rebekah was very knowledgeable and was able to help me pick the most appropriate frame for my prescription. Their frames were stylish, yet sturdy, well-made and priced fairly. After discussing my options I settled on two pairs of progressives. This was my first time with bifocals and Rebekah was, again, just wonderful in explaining my options, providing helpful tips on how to use them, and assuring me that I could come right back in if I had any problems. She also explained the importance of precision in progressives so I was happy to see that they used digital measurement. I was so happy with my glasses that E. came here to get his prescription filled too. He had a pair of progressives that he got last year at another place and he never did get used to them so he had just set them aside. They were able to make him new lenses and now he is seeing just fine! After 5 months of blissful vision I fell asleep in my glasses and bent them beyond repair. Fortunately they said I had purchased insurance and so they replaced them for $20 with no hassle. They even had the frame in-stock so I was in and out in just a few minutes. You can bet that E. and I will return when it is time for new glasses!

When my mom was taken there on March 10, 2017, he was considerate and understanding. We never received copies of documents signed and most definitely NEVER WERE TOLD that she could only be there 3 months. But yet I have been told by several staff that another patient has been there close to a year. Even the patient's daughter confirmed it. At the beginning my mom would drink 3 cans of ensure and would take a bite or two on food given and she hardly drank water. Towards the middle of April she stopped eating and stopped drinking the ensure. She started to drink about 3 cups of styrofoam glasses with water(The smallest ones) a day. She would call out "Agua". But would drink very little of it. Her health was most definitely deteriorating and she even lost her eyesight. On about the second week of May I was visiting my mom and Frank Godinez, social worker came in to tell me that we needed to consider taking my mom home or to a nursing home. According to him my mom was doing better. He went as far as to say she was drinking and eating. I explained to him that all of us worked so that was not an option. He said if you can afford a nursing home they charge about $3000 a month . Or why not take her home and we could follow the schedule we had here, since there was always someone in the room with her. Again I explained that we worked. But on their pamphlet they encourage family be there. My sister then went to talk to him and he told her the same thing. Went as far as telling her that my mom drank 6 ensure cans daily. Which is false. In fact I asked the aides if they logged down the number of cans given to her, they said NO. On one occasion we dated the 3 cans in her room to see how long they would remain untouched ? Sadly they were there for an entire week. So I'm not sure where he gets his information from. So anyway on the last week of May he and Joanna (nurse) told my sister we had to transfer my mom elsewhere because she was better and stable. My sister quickly contacted another agency who would accept her. But unfortunately Frank talked to someone at Comfort House and convinced her that my mom was doing better and she would surpass 3 months of life. Therefore she wasn't accepted. She was sent to a nursing home June 1, 2017. Nurse who assessed my mom told my sister that THEIR documentation stated my mom had a sore on the buttock and she was eating and drinking. Well the nurse came to find no sore whatsoever. What upsets and ANGERS me is why did Frank document false information about my moms health. While my mom was still there I asked him for copies of the determination. He said the staff from Retama have it and that I could get from them. Second time we asked they denied giving us copies of assessment notes that determined she was better. They said we needed a lawyer or have her PcP request them. No ETHICS for either of these two employees. Sadly my mom passed away on June 4, 2017

This dental office has my family's best interest in heart. Dr. Duran, Dr. Morales, and Dr. Romero are all skilled clinicians and have given the best care to my family. My boys see Dr. Romero and she is really great with kids she even finished treatment on my four-year-old who felt really comfortable with her. Dr. Duran and Dr. Morales are the two dentists that my husband and I see we really like how much time they spend time with us and answering our questions. The room I was in had a water leak stain on the ceiling and a light fixture was a bit dangling. The trim of the door was rotten. When the DDS came in, his handshake was soft, LIMP. He doesn't look into the eyes and seems to be bothered by questions. He was probably in the room for under two minutes. The assistant (a sweet young girl) gave me the treatment plan and expressed that the DDS takes about 15 minutes for a root canal. NO THANK YOU. I ended up going to a SPECIALIST (endodontist) for those treatments. For this reason I give this place a low rating.

good experience the nice nurse daliah not a long wait time only thing that i didn't like was when i…read moreput the bib and was waiting for the dentist i took my cover they put on my chest to go to the restroom and it tore so easily like it was very cheap quality i feel they should be more durable. im glad with the visit. the dentist was very kno knowledgeable and told me the whole process of what I needed. office was busy and the nurses always came in to make sure I was okay I did point out to another nurse the cover was cheap quickly ripped without hesitation she changed it but then it happened again after seeing the Dr and nurse that cleans teeth . I feel like we as patients deserve high quality for trusting a dental office with our oral hygiene! - Eva
