Spicy tuna roll, dynamite roll, California roll
    Jessica B.

We decided to visit Zenbu after shopping around Cross Iron Mills, since it wasn't too far of a drive. The restaurant wasn't all too busy around lunch time so we were seated quickly and orders came quickly as well. Our server was great and personable, very refreshing! The decor ambiance of the restaurant is not too bad and the dining area was clean. We ordered 2 orders of takoyaki, dynamite roll, spicy tuna roll, California roll, and their Dragon roll. All the rolls and appetizers we ordered were good, but nothing special. They also have Korean food in their menu(ie. Bibimbap, Korean ramen, etc.), but we opted to just try out their sushi. I think it's a decent place to get sushi in Airdrie if you live there, but I'm not too sure I would visit all the way from Calgary to eat there again.

My go-to sushi place when I am visiting Airdrie. Love their sunomono salad, unagi rolls, and tempura.

I had the YangYeom chicken (sweet and spicy ) and my wife and daughter had regular fried chicken. We ordered the Chicko meals. They have nice coatings that they deep fry. My complaint would have to be the quality of the chicken. There was a LOT of fat that they coat and fry. If you just stick it in your mouth you may not notice but one of my pieces had a quite a bit of yellow fat. This may be their cultural way of cooking (this is Korean)). Most of the meat is dark meat, at least all of mine was dark meat. The fries are suspiciously identical to Cavendish fries from Costco so I was disappointed they were not fresh like Five Guys. Seems the only drinks they have is bottles or canned. This was fine. My wife and daughter seemed to really enjoy their meals. The staff are super friendly and accommodating. The restaurant appears clean, though I found the floor to be sticky. They would get extra stars for 1) If they used better quality chicken 2) in restaurant fries and not Costco fries 3) clean floors and no dirty shoe prints on their chairs Am I too picky? I believe they cook the chicken 'fresh' so perhaps you can request they remove most of the fat prior to coating it? I don't know.

We went right when it opened, so it was empty, but people started coming in and it filled up quickly. For the five of us, we ordered four of the meal sets, a seafood pancake, and tteokbokki. It was a lot of food! The presentation of all of the entrees was amazing with the cute set of banchan for each on the tray. Highlights: - The seafood pancake was so crispy and delicious! Filled with great seafood, not just filler things. - Beef short ribs were delicious - Kimchi pork rib soup was also good! - Our guy friend got a spicy pork hock (I think?) bibimbap and devoured the whole thing, so it must've been good - The katsu was giant, but not our favorite thing. It was more of a standard katsu. We were coming from the US, so the portions and quality was excellent for the price! We were all pleasantly surprised. It was probably the best meal I had on the whole trip too. If I came back to Calgary again, I would want to come back to eat here.

The inside is also rather small, they seat maybe 7 tables each with 2-4 people per table. There's tons of traditional Korean decorations everywhere. The staff is also all Korean and greet you in Korean. There's unlimited high quality purple bean rice. The sides are nothing to write home about other than the macaroni salad. They had an interesting take on it by adding imitation crab - I'm not sure I liked that part. Otherwise it's similar to the chain BCD tofu. The ever popular seafood pajeon (a pancake-like dish) is made extremely thick and therefore isn't crispy at all like pajeon normally is. I don't really recommend this item. Interestingly there's a bulgogi dish with vegetables and noodles (thin, clear). Makes the dish much more hearty. The flavor and quality was pretty good. Seafood tofu soup. They do a great job of making it spicy if you ask. The flavoring has that umami feel. Overall, not overwhelmingly amazing. A bit on the pricey side. They do have a very wide range of menu items and some pretty authentic items that aren't normally regularly provided in Korean restaurants. Service is fine - didn't meet anyone rude or anyone particularly amazing either.

My meetings got out a…read morebit late so I looked up late night Korean food spots and found Namsan... which was a 26 minute walk from my hotel one way. My craving must have been intense because I didn't even think about it and started my long walk there. The layout of the restaurant is interesting. The bathroom is in the basement, the first floor is a bit small but has some tables, and the second floor has most of the dining area space. Interior decoration was pretty minimal but there was kpop playing and it was a bit dark in there so if you're looking to get a few drinks and Korean food with some friends, this would be a great spot. When I was sat at my table and I looked through the menu, the first thing that popped in my head was that they had quite an extensive menu. From army stew, bibimbap, bulgogi, and what I decided to get Dakgalbi (marinated chicken bbq). The Dakgalbi was really good and marinated well. I wasn't expecting the fried rice at the end to come with it like in Korea which was also really good. The only critique I have regarding the food is that there weren't that many side dishes (banchan) and the lettuce on the side was an extra $5. Service was on point. Thu and the woman server, I forgot her name, worked well as a team to make sure everyone was taken care of even though they had to walk up and down those stairs probably 10+ times just when I was there.

The atmosphere reminded me of a place you go to chill after work. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The seafood pajeon was the crispiest pajeon ever. The pajeon that I usually tried is very pancake-like. This is light, airy, and crispy. It was a kind of mix of tempura and pancake-like but not really pancake-like. Naeng Myeon was my very first time trying this dish. With me never having been to Korea, I'm appreciative of this dish. The dish was served with cold ice broth and gochujang sauce, with a slice of pork. This was a satisfying and filling palate cleanser in preparation for the next dish. Dak Galbi Fried Rice was a spicy endeavor for my usual bibimbap order. The egg skirt can be thought of as a wrapper for the savory and spicy flavors. If you like spicy food. This should be your go-to order.
