I came here because of all of the great reviews I read and heard about this place. Besides having to wait outside on a Friday night when the temperature was 27 degrees. I had a great time here, the atmosphere is your typical dive bar with a fairly small bar that's crowded, roughly about 20 tables with waiter service and a game room with darts and a pool table. What I love about this place is their beer menu. I would have to say they have over 50 different types of beer at a reasonable price. $4.00 a pint for one of their home brewed beers, that's unheard of (probably cuz I come from NY and beer is expensive). If it wasnt for a few drinks I dont think I would have like the live country band that was performing. But hey live music is better than no music, sometimes. Overall I like this place and will come back next time I'm around State College.

If I lived in State College, I could easily see myself being a regular at Zeno's. The atmosphere was dark, laid back and they had a killer beer selection. My husband and I ended up at Zeno's twice during our super short visit to State College. Both visits had live music playing, which made for the perfect background for imbibing. We sat at the bar both times where we had easy access to the drink list and bartender. At the time of our visit they had Stone Enjoy by 12.26.14 (YAY!). We also tried the Gus IPA (Cask) and Zeno's Rye. All three beers were new to me and awesome. The crowd was fairly mixed, but in a good way. I was expecting to be out with 21 years, but there were people of all ages at Zeno's. I had to chuckle when the college kids came up and ordered PBRs, but they were by no means the typical rowdy college crowd (at least not during our two visits). During our second visit, we got a little hungry and it was a little disappointing that they were out of soft pretzels. We had enough beer at that point, so we went on our way to stake out some grub. I would absolutely frequent Zeno's more if I could and recommend it to any beer lover visiting State College.

Best bar bathroom to have sex in, hands down. Plus, there is funny stuff written on all the walls!

Zeno's a fabulous 'hole in the wall' bar. It's dark and has a very low ceiling, but the beer and atmosphere are great.

These days I live in California, but every time I'm back home, I make it a point to stop in for a drink and a trip down memory lane. I met up with a few of my high school buddies on a Wednesday night while the students were away, so it wasn't packed but that actually made for a more relaxed night. The staff was upbeat and welcoming, and you could just tell everyone behind the bar was having a good time. There was a live acoustic band playing (though I didn't catch the name), which added a great vibe to the evening. The Phyrst is known for its nightly live music. The bar has been completely renovated since my time working there, and I have to say, the new layout is a huge improvement. It flows better and definitely handles a crowd more comfortably on busy nights. I even had the chance to chat with some of the bartenders and share a few stories from my time behind the bar. It's crazy how much has changed and how much has stayed the same. The Phyrst remains one of the most iconic bars in State College and has been a go-to spot for generations of Penn Staters. Whether you're a student, alum, or just passing through, it's a must-visit.

Nice Staff Good Food & Drink…read more We stopped into Brothers Bar & Grill State College during our first visit to town. The restaurant was huge, bright, and airy in a great downtown location. The host, bar, and table staff were welcoming and friendly (we stopped in for two lunches Friday and Saturday afternoon. The well stocked bar has a large beer and cocktail. We enjoyed delicious hot chicken and burgers with fries on Friday for lunch and the "Sampler" appetizer and chicken Tacos on Saturday. The bar and grill has dozens of TV for sports event and is definitely a hangout for the Penn State University crowd. Note - we did not know Brothers is a national chain. Brothers Bar & Grill State College had the vibe of a long-time local college establishment. Great place to stop in with friendly staff. Recommend for basic quick meal.

So, just make sure they give you the correct type of gift card if you purchase! The manager quickly identified that staff originally gave me the wrong type of card. He re-issued a new card at a higher value. I truly appreciated his response! ORIGINAL: I bought a gift card (large monetary amount) at the bar. I asked about menu prices etc to make sure I purchased a large enough amount. The bartender never once told me that their gift cards expire after just 30 days. *There is no legit restaurant that issues gift cards for just 30 days- especially without warning the purchaser.
