This is based solely on a visit for a quick beer at the bar. Tons of action, loads of TV's and a loud hustling and bustling spot for food, drink, sports, and people watching. Our bartender was quick and courteous and $4 Coors Lite pounders fit the bill nicely. Good spot to pre-game or just watch the game.

Worst restaurant experience I have ever had in 50+ years. We were in town visiting some friends that were alumni. The bar seemed nice walking in, but as soon as we sat down that's when everything went downhill. The food was atrocious, but it's a bar so I'll give them a pass on that. What I won't give them a pass on is the way we were treated by the staff, and more importantly how a group of younger college girls were treated at the table next to us by the creepy manager. The manager had come over to the table next to us a couple of times and apparently had said some really inappropriate things to the girls and was being a little too handsy with the girls. I heard the girls say they were really creeped out by him and they were going to report him, and they were really upset about it. They ended up leaving, and as they left I heard the manager say something under his breathe that referred to "something something white girls" and then laughed. Completely inappropriate. I tried calling the bar later that night to speak with someone about it, but the answering machine was full. I called again the next day, and same thing. I called almost every day for a week, and NO ONE EVER PICKED UP. How is that possible? Don't know the manager's name because he wasn't wearing a name tag, but I saw a picture of him on Brother's Instagram page, which is attached. The next time I'm in town I will be sure to stop by and see if he's still employed by Brother's, because if he is I will be sure to report this bar to the EEOC for what I saw and heard.

Brother's was better than the reviews shared. I enjoyed the amount of seating and the space between tables. Our server was kind and tentative. I had the chicken sandwich and was pleased. The fries could have been cooked a smidge longer but I ate almost all of them. Our table of 6 received our food relatively quickly and no one had any complaints. & of course had to have the fries Oreos which were delicious. Would come back!

Visited on a Thursday night for a late dinner. I ordered chicken fingers and fries. Fries were the frozen crinkle cut and chicken was nothing spectacular. Friends had the Granny Smith salad and said it was just ok. Service was so/so. After receiving our food, we didn't see her much.

It's a new college dive bar with bar tenders that are young and slow. After getting them to talk they started to open up and serve faster. On a Monday I actually had to ask for another drink normally after second they get the idea. The bar is forever long they need to come up with a way to break the bar up it's to huge(ie long). The food is not bad for a bar. I've attached some pics

    Bone-In Wings

I ordered wings and got these for $17.....8 freaking wings!!!. They aren't real wings, they are breaded "wing dings". Being the only person eating I would assume they could at least shake them, but no, the lazy ass cook poured the sauce on the wing dings. Very disappointing.

While the building was cool inside, the food was not good. Drinks and football weekends could be fun.

I don't drink alcohol so I can't speak to their bar or other food. 5/5 Food: where to start with the burger- its thick patty has a great crisp outside and medium inside and is graced by nicely cooked bacon, lettuce, tomato, cheese, and a proper amount of sauce. The fries are classic, semi mush-semi crisp fries with coarse grained salt. The meal with a delicious burger that outdoes any other I've had in state college, even those that cost close to $20. Walking out the door, the meal (fries, burger, drink) cost 8.05, and I was happy to leave a larger than 20% tip to make it $10 even. I challenge you to find a better burger in state college, regardless of price. Honestly, my MBA-trained senses obsessed over what their business model might be and I'm hoping that it was providing enough for the owners and staff. 3.5/5 Service: Friendly. It was really busy when we were there and it was a tad slow, but we also had a group that came in at different times. 4/5 Ambiance: nice-ish college bar inside, clean bathrooms. Only complaint is that the booth table was too tall for the chairs, I felt like I would have been better suited to kneel to eat my burger than sit (I had one friend who did kneel to meet the height of the table) Tl;DR Excellent burger; confusingly great value.

Second time here and I'm more practical with expectations. The sandwiches are as expected…read more I had fried chicken sandwich. For $3.50 you can get a million broken fries ( no fork) and for us the ketchups were all empty. It was funny watching other patrons track down ketchup. Seating is Lord of the Rings style, but you know that going in. Solid and expectations met, as 9 pm approaches, groups start coming as a changeover to a bar happens.

These days I live in California, but every time I'm back home, I make it a point to stop in for a drink and a trip down memory lane. I met up with a few of my high school buddies on a Wednesday night while the students were away, so it wasn't packed but that actually made for a more relaxed night. The staff was upbeat and welcoming, and you could just tell everyone behind the bar was having a good time. There was a live acoustic band playing (though I didn't catch the name), which added a great vibe to the evening. The Phyrst is known for its nightly live music. The bar has been completely renovated since my time working there, and I have to say, the new layout is a huge improvement. It flows better and definitely handles a crowd more comfortably on busy nights. I even had the chance to chat with some of the bartenders and share a few stories from my time behind the bar. It's crazy how much has changed and how much has stayed the same. The Phyrst remains one of the most iconic bars in State College and has been a go-to spot for generations of Penn Staters. Whether you're a student, alum, or just passing through, it's a must-visit.
