We walked in expecting a typical dining experience with a menu but found out things had changed dramatically. Our hostess, who we later found out was the owner, explained to us that if we wanted food, we could order it from outside where there was a traveling chef with a pizza oven. This was a big change from the usual menu and what we had expected. We decided to go with the flow, take a seat at the Ouija board table, place our drink orders, and go outside to order food. This week the chef had a woodfired pizza oven. Keep in mind, cider is the focus here. So, my husband's old fashioned was made with cider. Hearing this, I asked for my cider on the side rather than in my cosmo. We learned that the owner's background is movie set design and that she worked on movies like Harry Potter, so the decor was a combination of old industrial plant and haunted house. The bar had "potions" with smoke oozing out. There were also skeletons and skulls throughout the restaurant along with spooky photos that changed from normal to scary. She even allowed us to explore the different back rooms one of which she called the "swamp room." The pizza was good, and we enjoyed listening to the live music which wasn't overwhelmingly loud. Overall, everyone was kind and made us feel welcome. We later ordered the blueberry cobbler for dessert which was warm and tasty. read more

What a special spot in Central PA! We stopped here after seeing that there were a number of vegan options available and were not disappointed. For an area with slim vegan pickings, this felt like a gold mine. We ended up trying a few menu items and they were all delicious and tasted quite fresh. My biggest gripe was that the risotto was made with a medium grain rice rather than a traditional Arborio, and that the prices for food were on the higher end given the portion sizes. The cider flight was delicious. There is plenty of seating, include extensive outdoor seating that looks out to the forests surrounding. Indoors is filled with spooky, eclectic industrial decor. I really really enjoy this place. Having been here twice on Sunday afternoons, we had great experiences. I liked what I had the first time so much, I got the same thing again! I love a mule, and their mule with the ginger cider is so good. Even without the vodka, it is one of the best mules I've ever had! Others in our group enjoyed the old fashioned. The pickle pretzel, Reuben eggrolls, and French onion soup were starters we enjoyed. The fish and chips and the schnitzel were great too. The ambiance is my favorite part, with restored elements of the original factory mixed with some haunted house-esque decorations. read more

Unfortunately it was our first and last time. We arrived at 6pm on a Saturday night and it was not busy. By that time we left at 7:30pm, most of the tables were filled. The ambiance was unique and the best thing about our experience. Food was mediocre at best. -Ordered the Thai curry roast beef and we were very disappointed. The portion was SMALL for any adult but might satisfy a child. There was a tiny "pool" of Thai curry sauce underneath the beef and only about 2 Tbsp of the beef & 2 Tbsp of mashed potatoes on the entire plate. If you order this dish, be prepared to be hungry after you are done. -The Apple schnitzel was bland and flavorless. Good portion size. -The chicken and waffles was bland and reminiscent of chicken pot pie poured onto the plate with a side of 4 small waffles drizzled with a sugar frosting. The chicken stew made the waffles soggy. Good portion size. -Hot honey roasted Brussel spouts appetizer was okay. Portion was small (good for 2 ppl but no more) and no "hot" flavor to be found. The waiter did say this was a new menu which they just introduced on Friday. Definitely needs ALOT more work on the flavors. We were completely underwhelmed and taken back by the lack of flavor of the dishes we ordered. Service was okay, 5 out of 10. Water glasses sat empty for quite some time so we walked over to the wait station and retrieved a pitcher for our table. read more

Some restaurants claim you're a part of their family when you're there. At Titan Hollow, you truly are. Easter Brunch was an absolute delight. We were immediately greeted by manager Anne Bliss. It's always great to visit with Anne. Thanks for the hug! Our table reservation was ready and the venue was hoppin' (sorry, couldn't resist the bunny joke...) Thankfully we made a reservation this time because they were sold out for every time slot! This fabulous establishment once again did not disappoint. The Alloy Kitchen and the Mad McIntosh Bar were certainly prepared and on point. Chloe prepared a fine refreshing Cider Lemonade with a hint of ginger for me, and Jodi had a fantastic s'more martini. Mattie, our host, stopped by our table several times just to make sure everything was perfect. She's great. Anne let us know that with spring/summer weather approaching, Titan Hollow will be opening their outdoor seating area for dining and entertainment. Dogs are welcome on the patio too, water bowls included. Our server Sam was extremely attentive, friendly and personable. She quickly (and happily) responded to all of our questions and requests, confirming details with the kitchen. Compliments to Chef Tony and the culinary team. The food was amazing as always. I've always had a soft spot for industrial sheik, and Titan Hollow delivers like a Cat 5 hurricane. You gotta love that the space was once home to a metal foundry/fabrication facility--Titan Manufacturing. Unique atmosphere--one of a kind. Lots of cool things to look at. You'll see boilers behind glass, vintage safety signs, and parts of the old control room to name a few. Our party of six ate from the brunch menu: vegan pancakes, brunch board, burrito, potato pancakes, and eggs shakshuka. My wife's pancakes were okay, but not warm when served. The same for my breakfast burrito. I enjoyed it at room temperature, and my wife liked her cakes after a kitchen do over. As for the rest of the line-up, no complaints from the diners. Just my first impression, but this place is awesome. At first I thought of an old speakeasy, then I noticed all the portraits on the wall looked very macabre. The menu during lunch is light but very tasty and unique. Many different seating areas both inside and out make this a great destination for a solo lunch or family dinner on a beautiful summer evening. We tried the deviled eggs and shrimp tacos our companion had a chicken sandwich, we enjoyed every bite. Lots of movie memorabilia including several witches brooms and the dress worn by the wicked witch of the west. The cider was very tasty and the staff extremely helpful choosing food and libations. How did we not know this fabulous establishment existed until recently? My wife Jodi and I have been to Axemann several times but didn't realize this gem was tucked behind it. Everything about Titan Hollow, including the Alloy Kitchen and the Mad McIntosh Bar, is fantastic, from the atmosphere to the menu, including the wonderful staff. Although the place was packed when we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by Mattie at the host station. She apologized that there might be a delay since we didn't have a reservation, but to be honest, we found the wait time short and well, fascinating! (I do have to say we'll be sure to make a reservation next time - and we do recommend you do too!) Manager Anne Bliss recognized us from DJing and Gold's Gym (decades ago!) What a memory! She invited us to tour the facility prior to dinner and we were amazed. Owner Angela is a former set designer from Hollywood and her décor didn't disappoint! We strolled through the bar, entranced with the scene, feeling as if we'd stepped back in time into a speakeasy. From there, we took in the larger entertainment area, also decorated in grand style. Because we attended right before their Halloween party, we were treated to a Disney-worthy walk through an enchanted hallway, culminating in a lavish table set with ghoulish delights, including a filmy witch cackling on the wall! Bats and upside-down candles hang from the ceiling and cauldrons bubble at the bar. Words can't describe the complete effect. You have to see it for yourself! Exceeding guest service is alive and well at 'the Hollow'. In fact, everyone here hustles to take care of every guest. I've been involved in hospitality for a long time and it's refreshing to watch a great staff work together so well. Although Heather (quite the charmer) was our primary server, other staff (Natalee, Peyton and Ashley) served up smiles and conversation as they passed by. I caught Ashley several times stopping to step up on a chair to honor a guest request for a group picture. I commend her! The gentleman who delivered our food (sorry we didn't get his name!) made sure it was hot and direct from the kitchen. Everyone is on top of their game: bussing tables, delivering items and refilling drinks. There wasn't a dropped napkin on the floor that didn't receive immediate attention. And the food - ohhh, the food! Our compliments to the chef! My wife had the pork schnitzel, and I had the baked macaroni with sundried tomato. Both meals were delicious. We also sampled cider drinks and a pear mimosa. And how could we resist the hot lava cake? (Spoiler alert: we didn't. And you shouldn't either!) It was wonderful to visit with Anne and meet her co-workers. We couldn't be more impressed by their collective efforts and will certainly return (with reservations) soon. Next on our list? I'm not currently consuming alcohol, so this review focuses solely on the food and service. Super cool place! Tons of personality in the decor and was a lot bigger inside than I thought. Kind of a steampunk vibe, and they had decorations up for Halloween. It's a bit loud but not echo-y so you can still very easily carry on a conversation. The menu isn't huge but has a variety. Some of the small bites and shareables can be made vegan/veg but they only have one possible vegetarian entree. Wasn't an issue for us but something to be aware of if you have those dietary considerations. The food was bomb! Portions were generous but not excessive. We ordered the burger, schnitzel, Reuben, fish and chips, and the goulash (soup of the day, though I'd liken it more to regular beef stew) Everything was fresh and flavorful and just tasted homemade. We ended up ordering one of each dessert to share among us and since we all had a different favorite, I'd say you can't go wrong with any of them (carrot cake, butter cake, and lava cake) Our server Heather was super attentive and personable and took our experience from great to super. Had a very nice lunch there. I had the Jagerschitzel. The pork was thicker than I expected, which was great, the gravy was delicious, perfection! The spatzel on the other hand, kind of had that day-old pasta, feeling and taste, the beets I didn't care for. The room we were in was a bit cold, so you may want to bring a sweater to have layers. I spent over twenty years in the hospitality industry. I have very high standards of excellence. My wife and I went to Alloy Kitchen at Titan Hollow for our anniversary. From the minute we walked in until we left, the entire staff was an A+. We had three apps, deviled eggs, honey brussel sprouts, all we recommend! My wife loves fish and chips, she subbed Mac and cheese. She said it was the best fish that she found locally. I had the cider chicken sandwich. Loved the apple slaw. Chips outstanding. Very cool place that I love to visit when I am in State College. The atmosphere is very unique, with lots of things to look at, in every corner. It's a one-of-a-kind mix of things you would see in a family-oriented "horror" attraction in a theme park, and it sets the stage when you enter. This event had to be replanned on short notice when our previous planned venue suddenly became unavailable. Two stars for the cool ambience , delicious cider & friendliness of the staff. Sadly, the food is absolutely horrible as was the service. Our server was wonderful but it seemed like there wasn't enough staff to manage the venue. We waited more than 20 minutes for our drinks and another 30 before we could even order food. Once ordered, it was another 40 minutes before cold, truly awful food was delivered. The cauliflower crust pizza was basically inedible. The chicken & waffles, an odd mixture of cold ingredients in a thick, gloppy sauce. The burgers were "ok" and there was no flow of "lava" from the lava cake. Sorry to say the only reason I would return is to listen to a particular band & then, I'd eat first & just order a drink. read more
