I'll admit it: prior to meeting Jaweed, I simply did not trust chiropractors. On a personal level, I always was amused how, out of all the types of doctors I knew (MDs, DDSs, PhDs, etc.), they were the only ones who insisted on being called "Doctor." Freakin' posers. Jaweed is about as grounded and down to earth as you'll find as a human being. From a patient perspective, my experiences with chiropractors were not positive; I found them to be rough and always feared they were doing more harm than good. With Jaweed, I always feel (literally, *feel* in the parts of my body where he's working) that he's healing me. So I went here with plenty apprehension and trepidation. Wouldn't have gone at all if not for the incredibly great recommendations from a group of friends who just couldn't be more diverse as far as age, values, body types, etc. They ranged from professional dancers to fitness instructors to 60 year-old dudes who have torqued the hell out of their bodies from golfing, to desk jockeys, etc. They all simply swore by this guy. And then I learned why. Dude has a gift. I told him he shouldn't even use the title Chiropractor except in passing. He is, both to my mind and in my address book, a Biomechanical Harmonizor. He looked at me, had me do a couple things, then, to my surprise, said the pain I'd been experiencing more or less forever between my scapula and spine, had more to do with my hip being out of alignment than anything. Gave me a mild adjustment and some exercises to do and, voila, I was healed. I first came to Dr. Jaweed after having 2 surgeries- pectoral tendon repair and capsolabral reconstruction.. Prior to having seen Dr. Jaweed, I had thought I had permanently lost strength and range of motion in both shoulders. In fact, I had been to 2 physical therapists, and they told me that things had settled incorrectly. They then told me that there was nothing more they could do for me. Wow, what a great first visit and I'll definitely be returning. Dr. Naweed took my call at 8am on a Saturday after I had fallen down on some stairs the night before. He saw me that same morning, administered deep tissue work on my neck and shoulders, and aligned/adjusted my neck and back. When I first started seeing Dr. Naweed, I thought I'd have to start cutting back, slowing down, or possibly even giving up on running. Under his expert care, I was able to get back to running pretty quickly. I like that he gives me homework so that I can participate in my own care and get back to optimal health more quickly. I do not know how to thank this man enough. I was in a terrible horseback riding accident and broke my back in three places. I saw Dr. Naweed three times a week for several months. He helped me with my pain, mobility and range of motion. When I first started seeing him I was using a walker to walk. I could not sit down at all and I was in tremendous pain. Dr. Naweed worked on the muscles in my back, hips and legs. Initially Dr Naweed could not do any adjustments due to the fractures but the deep tissue work he did helped me tremendously. As I progressed, he gave me exercises to do. During the first few months of my recovery I sometimes felt discouraged and frustrated. I am a very active person so it was hard not being able to sit,drive or exercise. I was relegated to lying down in my bed or on the couch. Dr. Naweed was always encouraging. He motivated me, lifted my spirits and gave me hope. He was honest and straightforward with me about what to expect and how long it would take before I could resume my normal activities. My friends,family and spine doctor could not believe how fast I recovered. I was relatively pain free after 6 months. I am now able to run again, swim and horse back ride. Jaweed also comes to my office once a week to help us out, so I've been seeing him for 4+ years for a variety of sports- and posture-related adjustments. He's literally been able to fix anything I've ever gone to him for. Recently, my back/hip/torso was really bothering me for 4-5 weeks, it felt like my tailbone was sticking out. He said that I had a misaligned sacrum and put it back in place. I feel back to 100%. Dr. Naweed is an excellent chiropractor. He spends plenty of time on you and does a ton of deep muscle work that really helps with the adjustment and with holding the adjustments for a longer period of time. In 2015 my cantankerous 86-year-old Mother was referred to Dr. Naweed by a personal trainer (whose elderly aunt had had great pain relief after treatment Dr. Naweed) for arthritic hip pain. She has been seeing him for about 2 years now, on a weekly basis. He would have "graduated" her if she had stuck with physical therapy, but at least, his massage/ART/other treatments let her function almost normally. He keeps trying to get her to help herself with exercise and PT, but she just wants to see him. The fact that she trusts him is a miracle, since she doesn't believe in chiropractic, massage, PT or anything other than Dr. Naweed's treatments! After getting to know Dr. Naweed, I decided to start seeing him myself in October 2015, once a week for about 3 months, after which he graduated me to every other week for about 4 months, once a month for a few more until he weaned me to "as needed" basis. As an athlete that has experienced a high ankle sprain and common back pain, I am glad to share my positive experience with Dr. Naweed who has helped me to speed up the healing and recovery process for my high ankle sprain (basketball) which felt better after the first few visits. As a Dentist, if I can't work it becomes a huge inconvenience not only for my staff and myself, but also most importantly for my patients. Two years ago I injured my shoulder over the weekend and could not move it with out severe pain. I went to the ER and was given medications and a shoulder sling. I was told to stay home from work and rest for a few weeks and that the type of injury I had would take 6 month to heal on its own. My upcoming work schedule was full of patients and rescheduling 2-3 weeks of appointments was not an option. A colleague referred me to Dr. Naweed. I was skeptic at first because I had never been to a Chiropractor and always believed having your "back cracked" would cause more problems then it would solve. I was referred to Dr. Naweed by my orthopedic surgeon for a stubborn reoccurring shoulder pain throughout my surfing career. What I liked about Dr. Naweed was that he gave me the time of day to listen to my problem without rushing me in and out and after leaving I was confident he had figured out the problem. Dr. Naweed has the particular skill of meshing his academic and clinical training into an adaptive and customized medical treatment for each patient on an individual basis. I know this because I first visited his office with two other friends (alas, not active on Yelp) who sang his praises. While in the treatment, I noticed the motions that my friends (all of us extremely physically active young guys ~30 y/o) were treated with and what I was treated with, all very unique to our weight, muscle mass and most importantly verbal feedback. This was my first experience, a few months later (and the reason for this Yelp Review) I had slept on my left shoulder incorrectly and hyper-extended some muscle which runs from behind the shoulder around through the front of the arm, rendering my entire left arm completely immobile. At 8am, I was standing outside his clinic as he walked in and squeezed me in between his first and second appointments. Dr. Jaweed is one of the finest chiropractic practitioners I've encountered in my decades as a professional dancer, Pilates trainer/studio owner, and body worker (I practice orthopedic manual therapy). He is informed and articulate about the body and will always explain what issues are presenting for you and what his treatment approach is given that. He is a gifted practitioner of ART (he always will spend adequate time to release hypertonic muscles before attempting any adjustments; to me this is absolutely paramount), and will see torsions and tensions in your body that you were not aware of. He is specific and effective in his treatments, and will as a rule give you corrective rehab exercises to practice at home -- so that the problem improves rather than remains chronic through unchallenged body habits.
