In the heart of Melrose. Cute little theater where every seat is a good one since there are only 3 rows of seats. The crowd was pleasant. You could tell they were theater folk. and check in was easy. There is a small snack stand but it's better if you go get food before the show. Because pickings are slim. It was hot outside but the air conditioning worked well. So I have no complaints. We staged my new play at the Zephyr, and we had an incredible experience. Amber and Caissey made it such a smooth process and were extremely helpful throughout, Ryan was great and very informative, and if you need someone for lighting design and to run the tech booth, Matthew Moss is your guy. Great little theater off Melrose in the Fairfax area of Los Angeles... bordering West Hollywood. You'll notice a white building with a blue sign as well as blue writing on the building and a huge billboard right above of the building (non-related)... There's a small theater space just right of the main attraction/bigger theater - where you might enjoy stage plays, productions and improv as I did the other night in support of my friend Adam L. Haskins and co. Me and my friend Ryan arrive super early and managed to find some meter parking right on Melrose Avenue / Vista Street just before the theater (how we managed that I will never know).. There is residential area parking on the side streets with very few restrictions after 8 PM which is when the show started. When you enter you'll see a cool mural to the left of Hollywood, some outdoor benches and an additional sign right underneath the main doors. They have a single gender neutral bathroom for guest on the outside + 2 other restrooms I'm guessing closer to performance space for performers as well as crew (very common in smaller theaters all over LA). I couldn't say the exact number of seating available when I walked in but with only two to three rows I'd say less than 100 but definitely more than 60...(74 according to their site which is pretty organized). The Improv show was amazing and only about an hour, but they also had a comedy show going on at the same time at the small theater just next door to the Zephyr... The stepped out to ask us to be mindful post show as we were chatting amongst ourselves as well as performers... oddly enough a bunch of sirens went by as they were asking us to politely continue our conversations a few more feet away... I lol'd so hard. If not for knowing one of the performers (technically two) I don't think I would've know of their Open House Improvisation Show with the Turbine Improvisers on the 1st as their social media presence isn't as up to date as their amazing website. For the Improv Open House night they had a suggested donations which I thought was cool - happy to support the arts! Overall definitely would come again and see more performance art of all varieties day or night - hours tend to vary but usually start around 8PM or later from what I've seen on the Upcoming Show list as well as previous ones. The Zephyr is a small "black box" theater. They have a great comedy show that just started up. The Zephyr has two theaters. One is intimate for about 20 and the other much larger. Tickets are super reasonable and very affordable. They also serve refreshments. Visit the Zephyr for a low cost and fun date night and save that money for a great dinner. Highly recommend. read more

Lorelai Joyner won't return me my money back. She said it's too last minute for me to be able to receive a refund but I paid her last minute for the vendor event on June 18 and the vendor event is on June 22 . I really need my money back because I worked for my money and I won't be able to show up that day because I got called into work. She said I needed to contact her a week prior but I sent it this week which wouldn't make sense because I already gave her the payment last minute. I didn't receive any advertising nor am I going to be able to use the space because I also have other priorities. read more

Intimate theater with open seating. My dad and I watched the Dinner with Friends production on a Saturday evening and it was so cool to be so close to the production. You check in prior to entering the theater and can purchase drinks/snacks beforehand. The seats were comfortable and there are two single occupant restrooms (one by the box office and the other behind). Metered street parking. read more

Check in clerk seemed rather flighty and not very friendly. Lots of shops and restaurants in the area. Parking can be challenging, but I found one in a residential area (just be aware of the signage). Theater is actually pretty roomy and comfortable for the location. read more

Review based on their poor and close to non existent customer service. My gf got tickets for the LOVE STRUCK play on aug 17th, we arrived late to the play due to the traffic caused by a couple of accidents on the way there, any way we talked to the person at the box office to ask if we could get in to the play and she straight up said the play was sold out, she never mentioned you can't get in cause you're late or you need to wait till intermission, she directly pointed that there was no space for us even though we bought our tickets a couple of weeks ago (wth???). I was really pissed cause looks like they double sell tickets as we weren't the only late comers to the play in that situation. The box office lady said we could ask for a refund to the theater company and the nightmare continued there as MACHATHEATRE refused to give a refund of a service they clearly didn't provide and keep excusing themselves with lies and non sense. I just assume this theater is as unprofessional as the companies they work with (MACHATHEATRE). Huge disappointment, if you see any other play from this theater company please stay away, you don't know what type of scams they will try to pull like trying to double booked their plays. read more

This is a small theater between coffee shops and restaurants on Melrose; I'd never find it if I wasn't looking for it. The theater seats 99, and is a wraparound (U shape) amphitheater-type style, even though it's not large or outdoors at all. I came here on Sunday to watch Voice Lessons, starring Laurie Metcalf and French Stewart, who were delightful to watch. I like small theaters because they are more intimate and you can see and hear everything much better than in a large venue. here, even if you sit in the furthest away seat you can find, you're still only about 8 feet away from the stage. This is a great intimate theater with only 2 rows of seating that wrap around like a U except that it's more like this: |_____________| so there's not a bad seat in the house. The staff is really friendly and there's a separate area for pre-show and intermission drinks and snacks. The wine is a great value because it's good quality wine so get there early and get loosened up before the show. Your best bet for parking is the garage on Gardner just south of Melrose for $3. read more

We've had a great experience renting out the Zephyr Theatre for our production of MORE GUNS these last couple weekends. Amber and their team are excellent and kind people, who helped us get out of a very rough situation after the Chromolume Theatre in mid-city closed while still under contract with us. The theatre is a little weird to use - the dressing rooms are upstairs, tiny backstage area. Still a great theatre though. read more

The Zephyr is a small intimate theatre setting that is perfect for a great theatre experience. There are no bad seats to view the show in the house, however, for longer performances the seats may get a bit uncomfortable. If you have longer legs, I recommend a seat in the front row which gives you a little more room to stretch out. It is open seating, so arrive early in time to join the front of the queue and get your favorite seat. I have seen two very well done plays here and always leave satisfied. There is parking in the public garage one block away for $3-$10 (depending on the day/time) and plenty of restaurants and cafes within walking distance. The house staff is very friendly and overall a very pleasant experience to compliment amazing performances. read more

Went to see the show called "This One Time". A story telling show the two hosts and three guests. Each person tells a story from their lives. It was great! And the Zephyr was a perfect space for such a show. Check it out! read more

Great little theatre in West Hollywood. Every seat is a good seat. My only complaint is someone (accidentally?) turned-off the AC during the intermission so it was uncomfortable for the first 10minutes of the 2nd half otherwise it's a great place to catch live theatre. read more

Just saw "Low Hanging Fruit" last weekend. I left feeling so inspired! A really beautiful story that we haven't heard a million times before. The acting was top notch. I loved the poetry...it didn't hit you over the head...it just moved you and drove the story forward. Very cool! The space itself is very intimate... I felt like I was right there on skid row with all of these incredible women. read more

Just saw Low Hanging Fruit in this truly intimate black box theatre. I love this space! No where to hide shoddy scenery or bad acting which this performance had none of!! Stellar, brave performances by all actors and direction and set/sound design were right on the money. Always so inspiring to see great theatre. I'll definitely check out more shows here in the future and tell my friends about this one. read more

The Zephyr Theater is one of the best intimate theater experiences available in LA. That is not to say I have enjoyed every production I have observed at the ZT, though like it or not, the productions are top notch. I just observed "LaRonde" and did not really appreciate it - yet it was a great production with great acting. Though you will not see "crap" at ZT....it is always an earnest effort. I have been elsewhere and I cannot say the same....if something looks inviting, I guarantee it will be done well. read more

For an intimate theatre, you can't improve on this little gem. We just saw Caught, which was fabulous. Set design was professional and very authentic (it looked just like our house, arches and all.) Although theatre staff members are usually charming and helpful, Jason and the rest of the people we spoke with were exceptional. They greeted each person who stepped up to the box office counter like they were truly delighted they were there, and I'm pretty sure they meant it. Deep Throat the Sex Scandal is an interesting and entertaining evening. The play is factual about a controversial time in the history of porn but still seems relevant and current. The cast is terrific, many of the actors playing more than one part seamlessly and professionally. There are different guest stars every weekend. We saw some high celebrity talent in the seats enjoying the play. The theatre staff are helpful and friendly. A really good night out, not expensive and lots of good restaurants within walking distance. read more

Blown away by the play I saw at this small theatre, The Zephyr on Melrose Avenue, "Low Hanging Fruit." Was completely transported and transfixed. Brilliant writing, the acting was superb, the direction was first-rate. Cannot recommend this play highly enough. It's timely, thought-provoking and tender. Kudos all around! read more
