Zerby Automotive does good work, I went to them because my horn did not work and the controls on the steering column did not work right. They texted me with an 8 a.m. appointment with a $145.00 charge to check it out. At 9:50 they took it into the shop at 9:52 a.m. and they told me what was wrong and then, my $145.00 charge went to $173.00 plus repairs. I paid and let them repair it. When I complained about the $173.00 charge for 2 minutes work. I was read the riot act about their expertise in pushing a horn. They do good work but the next time I will shop around and you should too! They will skin you alive! I paid $173.00 for them to push my horn. How dumb am I? I find their business practices deceptive and unethical. read more

I can't say enough good things about Zerby Automotive and specifically Bobby Ryan. He took care of me and my car, which needed the front bumper and grill and driver's side fender replaced, very professionally. He is a perfectionist! When he told me the car was ready except the paint didn't match match exactly. But I honestly couldn't see a bit of difference between the new paint and the original paint. And he is a nice guy! We paid over $2,000 in cash at Zerby Automotive for full brake work, including a paid $115.46 Brake Fluid Flush, on my active-duty military son’s 2003 Toyota Tundra (RO #95329). My son picked the truck up late Friday afternoon. Unaware of how severe the issue was, he drove it home. When I got home from work after 6:00 PM, I inspected the truck and discovered the brake pedal sank completely to the floorboard with zero resistanceâ, rendering the vehicle entirely unsafe to drive. On top of the dangerous mechanical condition, the inside of the truck was returned with heavy grease smeared all over the carpet and floor mats, showing a complete lack of basic professionalism and care for a customer's vehicle. A video of both the pedal failure and dirty interior was recorded immediately. Because my son was under strict military orders to report to his post in Washington by a hard deadline, waiting until Monday was not an option. We had explicitly communicated this strict timeline to the staff before work began. Despite releasing an unsafe, dirty vehicle and receiving full cash payment, the owner, Ron, personally refused to bring a mechanic in over the weekend to fix their oversight. In a small town like ours, offering zero assistance to a local community member and active-duty service member in a desperate, safety-critical situation is deeply disappointing. When the lines were finally bled, the technician discovered that the bleeder screws were completely seized. They required heavy PB Blaster and heat to open the rears, while the front bleeder screws sheared off entirely and required extensive repair. This mechanical state makes it physically impossible for Zerby Automotive to have performed the brake fluid flush we were billed for. Releasing a vehicle with no pedal pressure, damaging the interior, charging for unperformed work, and refusing to stand behind their service is unacceptable. If you need reliable work, basic quality control, or an accountable local business, I strongly recommend looking elsewhere read more

Let me start by saying that I did not have service here but want to describe my experience and you can be your own judge. I contacted them for a transmission fluid change on my 2017 GMC Canyon with 6L50 transmission. They indicated when I made the appointment that it would be around $300. When I arrived at my appointment for check in, we discussed what they would do, and they indicated a "POWER" flush and would not change the transmission filter. I asked them to change the filter and all of a sudden, the charge will be over $900. I politely declined and then went to do research on power flushing. GM issued TSB 04‑06‑01‑029J (March 2020) stating: - Power flushing can damage internal components. Look it up yourselves. As a result, I cannot recommend this shop. Maybe they are OK for oil changes and air filters but they cannot be trusted to follow Manufacturers recommended service. BTW, the Dealership wants $700 to perform this service. So not only do they not follow recommendations for service, but they are MORE EXPENSIVE! read more

To the Owner of Zerby Automotive and to other hard-working, concerned citizens...your comments are ill informed. Since I didn't speak to you, you had to get your information from your employees. This is further evidence of how untrustworthy your establishment is. Like I said in my previous review, I called four days prior to coming to your establishment. When I called, I told the "man" on the phone that I had a bad odor, which I was sure was a rodent, in my blower fan. I told him that the fan started to make a noise and that a day later it smelled like death and that was why I was sure it was a rodent. He asked me if the buzzing sound was also in connection with a vibration. I told him it was. I asked him if that would be something your establishment would be able to take care of. He said it should be no problem and to bring my car on Friday morning at 8:00 a.m. He didn't tell me ANYTHING about a bio hazard charge at any point in my dealings with him or the man from the shop area. Your comments regarding a bio hazard charge is the first. Another inconsistency to take note of. When I dropped my keys off with your very rude and unprofessional "man" behind your counter, he told me, "There is no charge for this kind of thing, so I'm just going to charge you for the time they spend. I think it will be about a half an hour." I was given an estimate for just over $80, which I agreed to. I was happy to pay someone to access under the glove box, take out three screws, pull out the blower, remove the dead rodent(s) (of which it turned out to be four...not five or six). Another less-than-truthful statement...this time on your part. So for anyone who might be in need of a trustworthy place to take your car for any repairs or any strange happenings (like in my situation), you might want to take it elsewhere. Zerby Automotive of Canon City is not going to "take care" of your situation without telling less-than-truthful statements and without "mansplaining" to you (apparently with the approval of the female Owner) and up-charging you at every opportunity. When I (a female non-mechanic) very easily pulled four dead ground squirrels out of the blower fan and very carefully sprayed the fan (so as not to get the black casing wet) and cleaned it out very easily and very well (which there is absolutely NO ODOR at all...it is disheartening to know there are people in the world who will take advantage of a very simple fix and try to charge hundreds of dollars more than what the situation calls for. What a disappointment. What a disgrace. The female Owner of Zerby Automotive of Canon City, Colorado should be chastising her rude and unprofessional employee, instead of backing up his very bad behavior. This is another reason to check yourself before you take your vehicle to Zerby Automotive of Canon City, Colorado and spend your hard-earned money to be treated in such a terrible way. Used to be good. Wouldn't take a bicycle there now. I had body repair done a couple years ago and did a fine job. Not now. I had to book a body appointment two months out. Got them a check from the insurance one month out. Came time for my appointment and was told all the people I previously spoke to were "no longer there". They hadn't ordered parts and didn't know what to do. They wanted to "look into it" and were pretty hateful like it was my fault. Instead of calling me back they called my insurance and cancelled my repair. Two months wasted. Just a month ago my wife took her car in and was told she needed $900 in repairs. She took it somewhere else and they just balanced the tires and it was fine. read more

They changed me to tell me my door locks were broken, I told them before hand that they were broken. It was $127.59 for them just to look at them. Then for them to install used parts it was going to be $528.92. I'm sorry but I can't see spending over $500. for used parts. read more

Very impressed with the professionalism and kindness of this auto shop. If we lived in town, I would be going here for every automotive need moving forward. I highly recommend giving them a call and selecting them for anything you need. We were visiting the area from out of town, when we noticed what appeared to be a decent oil leak. I called the shop to inquire how much it would be to take a look at it. They told me to come in, and that they would have someone take a look at it right away. The shop was honest with what the issue was, and told us that we would be able to get it home just fine, and have a local mechanic take a look once we arrive home. I also overheard the office manager really going to bat for one of her customers with an insurance agency. You can tell that they really care about their customers, and want them all to be extremely satisfied. This is a great way to run a business. A+ Service. read more
