Dr. Zerlin is the most understanding, compassionate, knowledgeable, pediatric professional I have ever encountered. He truly loves his patients and his skill set is amazing. He made me feel special concerning my son. He managed to take him from 100% hearing loss to recapturing all the hearing. He is diligent with follow ups and his front office staff will find you just the right place. I always leave with a good feeling inside. I have many friends that he put tubes in their ears when they were young and now they are grown and he is putting tubes in their children's ears. He goes out of his way to answer your questions and he truly listens to your concerns and helps you set up a long-term plan. I have been to see Doctor Zerlin several times over the last 30 years. When I called for an appointment today for an issue I'm having, I was told they are not accepting new adult patients. I explained that I am not a new patient. I have seen him several times in the past. I was told that she could not find my chart (I don't think she looked very hard) and therefore could not make me an appointment. Dr Zerlin is amazing. Now I have to find someone new. Dr. Z is well known in Bakersfield for a reason. My son had a tonsillectomy and ear tubes put in and the doctor was compassionate and expertly treated his problems. All I have to say is, I wouldn't take my child there because the receptionist on the phone was very rude. This reflects on the whole office when you have somebody in the front desk answering phone that shouldn't be there because she's rude. The whole office gets a bad rap, even though everybody else could be nice wouldn't even let me ask her questions and hung up on me. This is not professionalism. This is just rudeness. read more

The receptionist is very rude. My mother made a call to make an appointment for my brother and asked if they had someone who spoke Spanish and she just hung up the phone. I called and asked to make an appointment instead for my brother and she answered very rudely. I called again and she was being petty and had me waiting on call. My oldest has been a patient of Dr. Zerlin's since he was about 8-9yrs old and he's 19yrs old now. We recently came for a visit as he is long overdue and hasn't seen Dr. Zerlin for about 4yrs now. Dr. Zerlin has probably done about 3 ear-tube surgeries for my son and he has also removed the boy's tonsils. My son has seen a total of 3 ENT specialists his whole life and Dr. Zerlin is #1 on the list. He has always been very caring, compassionate and professional. Any time he needs to go over the patient's findings, if the patient does not need to come back for a follow-up, he actually takes the time to call the patients directly. What physician does that? In this day and age, you hardly see physicians making outgoing phone calls to their patients. You usually hear from a staff member who has no clue who you are and wasn't even present for your visit. Dr. Zerlin's staff has been with him for a very long time and that right there is showing proof that he takes care of his employees. I have seen Terry at that front desk since the first time my son was a patient of Dr. Zerlin and she is very nice and welcoming. Sometimes I forget that his office doesn't take debit cards/credit cards for our copays, but that's not a big deal because she let's us send in the payments thru the mail. Some offices won't even allow you back if you don't pay your copay, but this right here is proof that he definitely cares about his patient more. Sometimes the visit is a little bit of a wait, but know that Dr. Zerlin sees the patients extensively. He doesn't take 10min in the room to shoot out 60 patients a day like a lot of offices these days. He cares about the quality of care he puts into his patients. He goes over the diagnosis and findings in detail and makes sure you understand or if there's a plan of action. I have always felt good every time we left his office because I always knew and I still feel that my son is in good hands with Dr. Zerlin. read more

Great ENT(Ear, Nose & Throat Doctor) in the area of Bakersfield. I had never been to an ENT myself, but man did he help me out. To be able to clear my ear blockage really helped me out for my daily life. He might have had to use every tool in his toolbox, but Dr. Zerlin really knows what he is doing. If you ever have anything wrong with your ear, nose and throat Dr. Zerlin is the place to go. I read great reviews of this doctor and terrible reviews of his receptionist. I thought, "How bad could it be?" I called this morning and she answers as usual: "Dr. Zerlin's Office" with a pause. I proceeded to say good morning and ask my question, but before I could get past "I was wondering...", she cut me off and went "Hold on" and put me on hold. Very rude. Dr. Zerlin, you're definitely losing potential clients because of her. Why would I wait on hold for someone who is so rude and has a long, publicized history of treating clients terribly? Yes it will take a few months to get in but that's because he has such a large following now. Dr. Zerlin has been treating our family for almost 10 years. He is knowledgeable, kind, compassionate and patient. Three years ago, and came in for a routine visit. While I was there, Dr. Zerlin was suspicious about an unrelated issue. He quickly diagnosed cancer in my nasopharynx that was quickly spreading to my lymph nodes and beginning to penetrate the surface of bone. My symptoms were silent. I wasn't even feeling bad. Had it not been for Dr. Zerlin, my cancer would have quickly spread without detection. He literally saved my life. My family and I are forever indebted to Dr. Zerlin. Dr Gary Zerlin is an idiot I wouldn't take my dog to him!!!! My dr referred me to him Zerlin said there wasn't nothing wrong with me. He said, he tried to scope me but couldn't that his equipment wasn't able to go down my throat due to my Antony but yet he said, he did a biopsy on me! hmmm isnt that interesting! I went to for a f/u he couldn't find the biopsy report. I had to show him the results SMH. Then he turned around and said nothing is wrong it's all in my head. Ok I went back to my primary then I went to another specialist guess what ??? I've gone to Dr. Zerlin since I was a toddler. He put tubes in my ears multiple times and also took my tonsils out when I was 12. He is a very sweet man that cares about his patients. He elaborates on concerns and comforts when nervous about surgeries. I more recently when in almost 13 years after seeing him for my ears and he is still just as thoughtful as I remember. He is very thorough and takes extra steps to ensure your health is priority. He's one of the best. read more

I was referred to this practice by my doctor for my daughters tonsils. Upon arriving I was skeptical due to the area but it took a month to get an appointment. I arrived 20 minutes early and received paperwork only after I asked for it 30 minutes later! After being here for an entire hour, I finally was called in. I continued to wait in the room for another 15 minutes. The doctor worked well with my daughter and diagnosed her quickly( 10 min). Overall the actual time with the doctor was great but the wait was a little extensive.My daughter was tired/hungry and I had to get off of work early. If they were able to better their wait / appointment times , I would definitely rate higher read more

Amazing doctor, he is known as the best. He seen my daughter for the removal of her tonsils and adenoids. Great bed side matter. My only complaint would be the front office. They are not very welcoming, they always seem very busy. But if you want the best doctor in town and you don't mind that he has a long waiting period for an appointment, then this is the doctor for you. The location is dated but again I am not going to live there. He is very intelligent. My daughter was scheduled to have surgery with a different ENT. The day before her surgery they called to cancel. Not telling me why! After following up with her pediatrician I found out that they didn't not get the right blood work. So I had to now take my terrified child to have her blood drawn ounce more. That's when a coworkers told me about Dr Zerlin. Don't risk your safety with other surgeons. read more

Office staff isn't mindful they don't call a day ahead for your appointment they wait until the day of the appointment to call you and find reasons not to see you after the appointment been booked months ago. I understand they're elderly but it's still an inconvenience for them to wait for the last min to say anything until the day of the appt. Which doesn't allow time to fix things within 2 hours of the appointment. The dr I've seen twice which is great but the office staff is going to ruin he's patients experience. read more

The women in the back office (Kathy??) is very rude, short tempered and doesn't know how to give a revised answer when patient doesn't understand something she says.
