I'm leaving a one-star review mainly because of the long wait time and lack of staffing. On a Saturday (arguably the busiest time), there was only one employee handling all the drink orders. He was clearly working very hard, but orders kept piling up, and I ended up waiting about 40 minutes. On top of that, several popular items were out of stock, including the coconut zero drink and the coconut pudding, which was disappointing. This doesn't seem like a staff issue--it's more of a management problem. Having more than one person working during peak hours would make a huge difference in maintaining an efficient workflow and better customer experience. read more

I was excited to try fun little drink that was also zero sugar/zero additive. I tried the pink guava and Thai me up drinks. A little on the pricer side but since it doesn't have additive, the price does make sense. The guava drink was terrible in my opinion but Thai me up was decent, it just had a very strong sugar free sweetener taste. The servicer was kind and we got our order fairly quickly. The indoor seating is very limited and the decor was lacking but luckily there is a lot to do in this area. Located on Newbury St in Boston. It was my first time here, I didn't realize what ZERO& meant, and it wasn't obvious from signage. I looked on the website after the fact and I think they use zero calorie sweetener in the drinks, so it's not going to taste like what you are expecting at a normal sugar place. My issue was there were little nuggets of ice in my drink, it wasn't blended well, and it wasn't large ice cubes so when I used the straw to drink, I sucked up little ice nuggets, slightly smaller than boba. I didn't order boba so I wasn't expecting anything that large. It's all about the mouth feel and texture with these drinks, and it was just weird. Ordered some drinks via UberEats, so I cannot comment on the ambiance. However, regarding the service, 5 stars. We ordered right before they were set to close, but they still processed and completed our order, which we sooooo appreciative as we worked our shift at the hospital. If you actually want a completely non-sweet milk tea. This is the place to go. It sounds silly, but a lot of boba shops, even when you select zero sugar, the boba has a sweetener on it so the drink is still sweet. But here the boba isn't sweetened. On our long day out on newbury enjoying our time we got a bit parched. Decided to try zero as we've heard from others to give it a go, of course there isn't a shortage of bubble tea joints around Boston or even in that area in general. Our drinks were made quickly, staff was nice, it was a bit humid in there but clean and open. They were unfortunately out of their coco mango which is popular. We tried the matcha smoothie and the Thai tea. The Thai milk tea could have been a tad creamier imo but the mix with Oreos was pretty good, i didn't notice if there was a set size or we just chose the smaller size. Every now and then I crave an iced matcha treat and their Uji Tornado is exactly what I want. It made me feel better after a trip from Japan, especially when they play j-pop. I like their machine for taking orders because I can see the full set of options (less sweet or types of sugars, etc) to customize my drink. I've also tried their teappuccino and while that's a decent milk tea I liked the matcha tornado much more. Sometimes you just need cookies & cream in green tea form, ya know? Another noteworthy reason to make this a fun stop on Newbury St (which bars cars on Sundays, at least in the summer) is the Hanabi desserts they serve. Zero& is the only store you can pick these up from; their only other locations are in California or Ontario. I've tried the Mango Sunshine and Taro Ube, and they tend to sell out. The coconut pudding is also a great choice. These are great as gift snacks (especially if you do the Asian tradition of bringing sweets on your visit) and they receive the highest compliment of "not too sweet"! read more

I've been to ZERO& a couple times now and I really liked their mango and coconut drink when I first tried it. When I first tried it, the store was very busy and clean and there are times when the line is out the door. The drinks were all made well and they were all fruit forward and the best part was that it wasn't overly sweet. I recently tried their mango breeze again and the drink was icy and wasn't as smooth. Could have been a fluke for the day but it wasn't the same as when they first opened. The restaurant was still really open and clean and the servers were friendly. read more

I always come to Zero& when I'm in Newbury Street. The drinks here always taste fresh and good quality. The store is extremely clean & there's a public bathroom as well. You can choose to order with their kiosks or get the attention of a worker. I always order with the kiosk since it's easier. The price is reasonable & the same price as any boba shop ($6-$8) Again, the drinks here alone make the place a 5 star. You can tell they're exceptionally fresh and tasty. I would recommend the Thai Me Up and also the Matcha Tornado. Last time, I ordered the Ube Taro and I didn't like the taste of the taro. When you walk in you have to self order on the small little ipad on the counter. I don't like that at all. I feel like there should've been an option to order with an actual employee to ask questions and recommendations, but there was no one there. This placed opened not too long ago you would think that they would keep up at least some kind of service to welcome people in. Nope. I ordered the Coconut Zero, and in the menu photo and description it says it comes with 1 whole coconut. I looked at other reviews and in their photos the actual literal coconut was provided. As you can see the coconut wasn't even given to me and when I drank it I find it hard to believe they used a whole coconut for the drink. Honestly absolutely disappointed. Around $8 for a drink that doesn't even come as described is so saddening. It tasted fine, like regular coconut water with a little bit of coconut flakes and pudding. The only interaction I received was when the employee called my name to give me my drink. For NO SERVICE, no coconut as described, and no Hanabi items on a Saturday afternoon is just poor. read more

We were shopping on Newbury Street, working our way down from the Mass Ave side to Boston Common. I had bookmarked Zero& a while ago & have been meaning to try their drinks out... thought today was the perfect day as we would be passing it on our walk. First thing I noticed, please be aware of the steps! Very steep! Inside, the shop was clean & well air conditioned. We ordered from the kiosk + tried two drinks today: the thai tea & the matcha oreo. I didn't pay much attention to if we were able to choose the sizes for our drinks or if they come in these sizes, as is, but was a bit surprised to see that our drinks were different sizes. Don't remember if there was option to choose. Both drinks we ordered less sugar & did not include boba/toppings. The thai tea was a bit on the sweeter side & watery... could've been creamier. The matcha did not have a strong matcha taste but that's usually the case with boba shops. Overall, nice place to try some unique drinks that other boba shops don't offer. This boba shop is unique and has a very cool concept, the ingredients are natural and drinks default to zero added sugar. There are lots of drinks to choose from, including various milk and fruit teas. I got their signature pink guava oasis drink, less sweetened, with pink popping boba. Unfortunately, since it was a fruit tea I could not choose a smaller size, so the portion was a bit too large for me. The tea itself was okay - I honestly think I am just used to the artificial syrup taste ;) but, I can see the objective appeal. The popping boba topping was a bit misleading, I expected them to be actual popping bubbles, but they moreover reminded me of pomegranate seeds with a popping outer layer. Our drinks were made fast, but they never called out our drink orders and we were sitting far away from the counter so we never knew they were ready, and they ended up being a bit watered down. I saw this place on tiktok and wanted to try to hanabi desserts. We stopped by after work on a Wednesday and unfortunately they were all sold out of the breads and cakes. We got some drinks instead and we got the top two rated drinks. The drinks together were about $15, which is a little on the pricier side. We also had to wait like 15 minutes even though there weren't that many people in the store and about 4 drinks ahead of us. The drinks themselves were so good! I got the coconut zero with light sugar, and it was so refreshing. There were chunks of fresh coconut and the drink was not too sweet. My bf got the mango drink, and that one tasted like mango puree. It was also really good and honestly not too sweet either. This will be our new go to spot for drinks! Next time, we'll come earlier for the hanabi desserts. read more

And what makes it worse is people who came in with us who ordered when they arrived at the store and people who ordered after us got it a good 10+ minutes before us. New boba spot on Newbury. Went 2x and so much is always sold out, including their Korean garlic bread which we really wanted to try. Instead got their coconut milk and mango milk which are #1 and #2 bestsellers. Their differentiating factor is that they blend WHOLE fruits instead of using artificial flavors. Tastes more like a smoothie than boba. I would choose the mango over coconut next time though coconut is more aesthetic. Both are very creamy and thick and the pearls are pretty standard. I came here with all the hype and they did not disappoint. I ended up trying 5 different drinks from here! I got the mango and my friend got the grapefruit drink. The matcha flavor was nice and distinct and had a good subtle sweetness to it. The peach drink was ok. They have no sugar added to their drinks but I felt like the peach didn't have much flavor and was just icy. I don't believe there's any seating inside so it's more of a to go kind of spot. Probably my favorite boba shop in Boston! I tried the peach drink and the mango coconut drink. Both were the perfect level of sweetness and incredibly flavorful. Zero& uses real fruit in all their drinks and you can definitely tell by the quality of their products. It's a bit on the pricey side but I think the amazing quality makes it worth it. Wow, these bobas were so delicious! The mango drink had fresh mangoes and the bobas were soft and chewy. The coconut zero is the most popular drink on the menu and tasted very coconutty. Unfortunately when we got there at 4pm, all the hanabi's were sold out. I'd love to give back and try their cakes. The order took quite a long time to make, around 15 minutes total. I have tried Zero& multiple times and this time I ordered the coco mango, pandan almond croissant, ube taro coconut pudding, and taro ube mini box. The coco mango was refreshing with a nice mango flavor present throughout the drink while hints of coconut streak is visible. I most enjoyed the coconut pandan croissant. The pandan filling inside was generous and paired well with the coconut flakes. After being warmed though, the croissant lost its texture but nothing too major. The ube taro coconut pudding was not bad. I did not really enjoy the taro paste as it felt too granular. The coconut pudding itself was good. It had a great texture while the flavor was not too overwhelming, only with a slight hint of sweetness. The taro ube mini box was a bit disappointing. I could barely taste the taro or ube in the cake as the cream cheese overpowered the flavor. The cake itself was soft and okay but lacked substance. I tried my friend's Thai Me Up and found it really disappointing as the drink was stuffed with cream and barely had the tea present. In the past, I found their Lychee Lover drink to be watery and awful while their Baby Peach is not bad. So far, while their drinks are a hit or miss, I appreciate their concept. I'm conflicted on what to rate ZERO& because while the actual milk tea is not bad at all and has a great tea flavor, the tapioca pearls are cooked so poorly. They're really hard and not chewy at all. It's also so humid inside the shop, and they don't have a fan on inside at all. The bathroom was clogged when my friend tried to use it. Pretty overpriced drinks for what you're getting.
