I've never been to a perfumery and it was so much fun. Me and my sister stopped in while he it and about. There were so many unique brands and styles of perfume. It was a not a pushy environment at all. Very relaxed and you can take your time really going through all of the perfumes. You can purchase up to 3 samples, the price varied based on the sample. Ranges from $8-25 each. If you bring your samples back and purchase a bottle you get 10% off. I love that you can get a smaller and really test how you like the perfume on your skin without committing to a $300 bottle. Such a great way to spend an hour while going around the city.

Great selection of niche perfume... they do let you sample on your own. It makes for a LOT of fragrance in the air and can get nose blind pretty quickly. I just love that I can smell frags in person and stop blind buying. They are friendly and helpful as well. They also ship- quickly I might add. Will continue to support them

There is street parking up the hill in the more residential area. Otherwise, it's tough!

It was really busy when I visited (probably because it was Valentine's Day), so I could tell the workers were feeling a bit overwhelmed. Nevertheless, I had a great time sniffing all the perfumes they had. Because it was so busy, the smell inside the store was pretty overpowering. I had to step outside quite often to sniff the perfumes I was testing. It also ended up giving me a headache. I'm sure they're not used to having so many people in the store at once, but it would be nice if they had a better air filtration system. I was hoping to purchase a few samples so I could test out some of the perfumes I was considering, but was sad to hear that they weren't doing that on the day I visited.

I'm absolutely thankful for the staff and their dedication to the beautiful products in store. I can't wait to be back for more.

It will fulfill your fragrance cravings for scents that are bourgeois and full of depth. I couldn't help myself given my compulsion to want to smell new scents.. My love of fragrance started way back in high school when I was constantly at either Bath and Body Works or Victoria's Secret buying up all the body sprays. What made this visit to Diptyque particularly nice was their sales associate Frances. I had the pleasure of meeting Frances as I casually wandered in. Like usual, I'm picking up random lids of their famous candles and inhaling their scents. Frances approaches me and we had the nicest conversation over our mutual love of fragrance. He is one of those people that has a real passion for perfume and takes his time to explain not only the notes each fragrance has but how they can make you feel. When I explained how a specific fragrance (in this case a new one called "Lilyphea") and how it smelled like a warm hug, Frances understood completely. Unlike some other high end stores that can come off as snooty or arrogant, this store is anything but. The sales associates here in my experience have been down to earth, easy to talk to and care to build the most important thing with their clientele-- relationships. This is the kind of thing that will bring me back to a store even if it's not to buy for myself but for a gift. Thank you Frances for making an already perfect day in SF even better. I'm taking my time with my 2 samples and enjoying them during my work day.

I was correct and also so glad I took the time to stop in. Firstly, the store employees: Tiara and Janielle were immediately and incredibly helpful, knowing that I'd likely want quarters for the vending machines and accepting my silly $2 bills (which my father put in my stocking at Christmas because he's a prankster like that) and handing me a cup full of $6 worth of quarters while explaining the vending machine limit of 3 prints per person very kindly. I asked if it was ok if I filmed and they assured me it was totally fine! This was really cool later on, as the shop's account commented on the video that I posted and that felt very interactive! After I had used up my last quarter and gotten my 6th mini mystery print from the vending machines, I started my search for a birthday card for the previously mentioned prankster-father of mine. The selection was delightful! Perhaps not massive, but still delightful as every option was by a local artist and priced really fairly for that privilege (about $6-6.50 per greeting card, which is actually a great value). I found four birthday cards for various people in my life and two "get well" cards for a friend and my mom who are both about to have surgery. After that I started to search through the other items in the shop, of which there were MANY and the options were so incredibly cute and kitschy as well as being very usable. I didn't end up getting anything other than the greeting cards, mostly because of the pricing, but I can respect a high price-tag when it's on a locally made artisanal item. I just couldn't personally afford any of it on that particular day! My six greeting cards totaled out to $46 including tax, and I'm ok with that! I've already used one and it was appreciated greatly! I have to say that the highlight of this visit wasn't the items or the super cool mystery art vending machines, although all of that was incredibly fun and exactly what I was looking for going in.. but the staff really made me feel welcomed and hyped up and I think that the soul of a store is sometimes made or broken by it's employees and how obviously they like or dislike their jobs. These individuals obviously enjoy working here and I felt welcomed by their energetic and thoughtful interactions with me. I will absolutely return!
