A new perfume was introduced - Contre Jour (which means Light Against Shadow). This perfume has radiance and depth. Check it out. The owner also unveiled the news that Frédéric Malle was now an established brand at the boutique; it has its own wall cabinet to showcase the perfumes! For quite some time, I've been into perfumery and recently discovered Niche Fragrances. ZGO perfumery has everything Niche which makes me appreciate it so much as most of the products they carry aren't widely available in storefronts. The layout made it easy for anyone to just come in and try a sample of different scents. My biggest pro is that they offer minimal customer service; they help whenever you need help and don't bother you which makes me shop in peace. Staff were extremely friendly to top it off, I would 100% stop by here when I make the drive to SF again. read more

I've never been to a perfumery and it was so much fun. Me and my sister stopped in while he it and about. There were so many unique brands and styles of perfume. It was a not a pushy environment at all. Very relaxed and you can take your time really going through all of the perfumes. You can purchase up to 3 samples, the price varied based on the sample. Ranges from $8-25 each. If you bring your samples back and purchase a bottle you get 10% off. I love that you can get a smaller and really test how you like the perfume on your skin without committing to a $300 bottle. Such a great way to spend an hour while going around the city. read more

I ordered many packages from ZGO without issue. But a recent delivery was mangled and destroyed by UPS. I asked ZGO to follow up because I just got the automated brick wall. I had to cancel the charge because I never got the product and now ZGO will no longer fill orders. Even after escalating the issue and promises that it would be corrected. Great selection of niche perfume... they do let you sample on your own. It makes for a LOT of fragrance in the air and can get nose blind pretty quickly. This place is my favorite way to just destress. My husband and I love to come here before a night out. Buy a bottle.. or two. And pain the town. My most recent visit however was by far the most memorable. Faith greeted me right away. The store was PACKED! I told her was I use and wha I was looking for. She recommended two right away. My husband was looking for a certain fragrance and she was able snatch the very last bottle for us and even gifted me with a mini spray of a new fragrance. Extremely Disappointed -- Avoid ZGO Perfumery I've placed several orders with ZGO in the past with no issues. But my last two experiences have completely changed how I view this business. Let me be clear: I've only ever received EXACTLY one courtesy a waived shipping fee when a sample I ordered turned out to be unavailable due to their own incompetence. That's it. Here's what actually happened: - I ordered multiple samples. One of the main ones I wanted was canceled due to "unavailability" after purchase. That's on them not me. I was then stuck paying premium shipping for a handful of low-cost items. And if I wanted to reorder that one missing sample, I'd have to pay inflated shipping again. That's not reasonable. - Then I pre-ordered a fragrance that was set to ship mid-April. Suddenly, it shipped early before I even received the sample from a different company that would've helped me decide. If the original date had been honored, I would have canceled. I returned everything UNOPENED, and was still charged around $40 on a $100 order. They claimed this was for "FREE/complimentary" samples. If they're only free when you keep the product, then they're not complimentary. ZGO's response to my concern? They tried to shift the blame onto me. Claimed I used "abusive language" (completely false), and tried to act like they had gone above and beyond. They didn't. Their policies are confusing, and their tone was dismissive and patronizing. No accountability. No real effort to resolve things. Just a lecture. I've supported niche fragrance houses for years, and I've never felt more disrespected by a business. ZGO has lost a customer for good--and I encourage others to think twice before ordering. There was zero abusive language used. If the owner would like to continue posting lies. I will attach the entire email thread. Was I unhappy they decided to charge for stuff that was used yes. Were they abused no. He has spent more time writing responses to this than to taking care of a customer who returned merchandise he will now sell for full price because everything was UNOPENED. The most lovely, personalized experience from Joshua! I came here with my partner who was really hoping for a scent exploration experience, and wow did Joshua deliver! They truly catered to our preferences and told us the stories of scents (which is exactly what my partner wanted). This was my partner's birthday, and we were lucky to be there on a slow morning. Joshua graciously gave us a lot of their time and attention, and we both left with new scents we love and many samples to test as well. 10 out of 10 for product selection, quality and customer service. If I could give it more than 5 stars I absolutely would. This place has "I am owned by a perfumer" written all over it. Cozy, cute, and luxurious in the layout of fragrances. It is definitely a niche oriented, exclusive, high-end perfumery. And not only did they have the perfume I was looking for, they had several I had been looking for that also had been sold out. Super win. My favorite part of my experience was the customer service. They were super friendly, very knowledgeable, but not at all pushy like when you're at the perfume counter of a department store. I took my girlfriend to this perfumery for her birthday a few days ago. This place we had researched and saw was highly rated, so it was on our list of places to go for a year now. It was well worth the wait! Much better experience and environment than if you were to shop at Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, etc. Staff was very knowledgeable and kind, and they don't approach you like vultures (like other stores do). My girlfriend is highly knowledgeable with her fragrances and Joshua absolutely matched that and helped us find a perfect new sent for her. On a recent visit to San Francisco ZGO Perfumery was a destination I could not miss! The state I live in does not have a single niche fragrance store. I was in perfume heaven! So many niche brands and not all were exorbitantly priced. You can purchase up to three samples per visit. They were kind enough to let me put my backpack down by the cash wrap so I could enjoy sniffing around. The staff were available but did not pressure. The staff here are super helpful, very friendly, and show a lot of genuine enthusiasm in explaining all the different brands/scents they carry. I also appreciate that they're not aggressive compared to the associates fragrances at say your big box retailers, and give you the space to explore as you see fit. I placed an order for in store pickup, and they were very accommodating in having it ready for me when I realized I would be in the area shortly after I placed the order. They carry a very elaborate catalogue of niche fragrances, and it's great if you seek variety or something different when perfume shopping. They also offer a number of complimentary samples with your order, depending on how much you spend. I visited ZGO House of Perfumery on Sunday to try a new Amouage fragrance. The boutique is small, with the rich fragrance cloud one naturally expects in such a space--beautiful, though it did mean I couldn't fully experience the perfume I came for. I asked for a sample and was offered 1.5 ml from a "Not for Sale" tester bottle. The charge was almost $10--certainly memorable for a sample that isn't for sale. I completely understand a boutique needing to charge; a brief mention ahead of time just adds to the charm. The associate was polite and showed me several fragrances. While the interaction wasn't quite at the "let me whisk you into the world of Amouage" level, I appreciate that ZGO carries such a wide range--it must be challenging to be equally well-versed in every bottle. I'm glad ZGO stocks Amouage locally, and I hope the boutique continues to thrive. For my next purchase, I'll explore other retailers--sometimes the perfect perfume simply deserves a setting as polished as the scent itself. read more

I recently took my first trip to ZGO and was astounded by their selection of fragrances and other scented products. I am relatively new to the world of fragrances and this place is like a candy store for fragrance lovers or appreciators! After browsing for a bit, I found a few scents that I liked. The sole woman in the store assisted me with finding a fragrance based on a few desirable notes mentioned. Overall, she was professional and knowledgeable. With her help, I got samples of three fragrances I liked so I could get a better sense of the scents after wearing them for a bit along with a bar of a soap. I do recommend checking this place out if you're interested in fragrances but I suggest doing some research beforehand. The staff there are always extremely welcoming for us to try everything out, and never bothered or pushed us to buy anything. We go almost every weekend just for fun.
