I visited this…read moresmall but mighty market for the first time in March, and I was impressed by the variety of vendors and products. The indoor market is also at Pittsfield Township Hall, but the indoor market is set up inside, in Morris Hall. There was a chef demonstration giving away samples (apple pancakes and kale/blueberry smoothies) in the lobby when I entered. In the actual market, there were about a dozen vendors offering fresh produce and prepared goods. Especially since it was early March, I was impressed with the variety of fresh fruits and veggies - including beets, carrots, swiss chard, garlic, spinach, apples, onions, frozen blueberries. Eggs, honey, cupcakes, kettle corn, bread, and pie were also available. There was even a vendor selling fresh pasta. Two vendors also sold homemade products - cutting boards and organic lotion and bath bombs, etc. Many offered yummy samples- including cheese and kettle corn. In addition to the vendors, there was a craft table and an entertainer making balloon animals. A number of kids were singing with a guitarist as well. The market felt lively and active, but not overcrowded, and it was not difficult to shop even with all this happening. I can't wait to come back for the outdoor markets!

Not until yesterday. There are about two dozen booths. There was a food truck! A couple vendors had fresh produce, including heirloom garlic bulbs & scapes. I was hoping for more produce sellers, but as interest increases, that'll happen, right? You might not be able to get a week's worth of fruits & veggies here but they have a lot of good stuff. The rest of the booths had relatively more shelf-stable wares such as fresh salsa, baked goods, dairy products, honey, spices & candles. Leslie Science Center had a booth. A woman had brought the screech owl that has been rehabbed but cannot be released back into the wild. Nice to see that little guy close up. Definitely worth a stop on the way home from work!

Now this may just be our favorite Farmer's Market of the recent past. Opened every Saturday rain or…read moreshine or snow, this Market was packed ... with people and produce. We loved all the activity and action ... not the least of which was the variety of produce. Many Farmer's Market's fall into the trap of selling tons of merchandise that isn't related to farmers ... such as candles, cute wooden signs, cheap jewelry, and other such tchotchkes. This one didn't ... it had a focus on fresh fruits and vegetables. As you might imagine, a Farmer's Market in a mostly residential area brings parking problems ... but don't give up. Wonderful people, great selection, nice prices. Next time we're in Ann Arbor on a Saturday, we'll be sure to stop.

Usually I'm running around Saturday mornings so it's nice to be able to hit a farmer's market later in the day and during the week. They have a nice mix of different produce as well as prepared products. It's great to get Corridor Sausage in my own backyard, love Mindo chocolate from Dexter and I'm thrilled to see them there every week. If I'm feeling like a snack Pilar's Tamales or Good Times Kettle Corn really hit the spot. The Brinary, Seedling (who I used to buy from when I lived in Chicago in their markets), and the Zingerman's creamery are all favorites. Not to mention all the beautiful fresh fruits and veggies. YES. Also--the parking lot rules. If it's too hot to bike or walk it's really nice to roll up and easily find a parking spot without having to pay a meter. It shouldn't matter but it totally does. The Saturday and Wednesday markets in Kerrytown are awesome but I for a few small items I love coming here. Popping in for a tasty eat at the Roadhouse doesn't hurt either! ;)

What a find! This market is the perfect compliment to the Ann Arbor Farmers' Market on Wednesday and Saturday mornings. Instead, it's in the late afternoon / early evening, which is a nice change, and has an easy location good for parking and on the west side of town. The market hosts about 20 local Michigan vendors, and Zingerman's is usually always outside sampling some kind of yummy goodness. There's a nice selection of fruits, veggies and flowers. I usually hit up this market every Thursday on my way home from work and almost never leave empty-handed. Rain or shine, the market is there.

I grabbed a basket and picked up some corn, homemade butter tarts, which are absolutely delicious and some dip seasoning. They also had an array of hummus, fattouch dressing, as well as cheeses and vegan cheese. Such a quaint market packed full of local items from around the Windsor Essex area, which is wonderful! I would have expected the offerings to be a little more robust in July in Michigan, but when I…read morevisited the farmer's market this week, there wasn't a lot to see. I had been to this farm market a few years ago and thought the selection was better then. The sparse offerings this time may be because I went on a Wednesday. I'd be willing to bet they get a better turnout on the weekends. However, I did have a fun time talking to the old farmer and beekeeper who ran one of the booths. He gave me the dirt on a few different local produce farms and I liked him, even though he talked smack about one of my favorite U-pick farms. I bought two luscious locally grown cucumbers for $2 and had one of them cut up on a green salad for lunch today. He also was selling locally grown beans, turnips, carrots, and strawberries, along with jarred honey and honey still in the comb. I plan to give the Farmer's Market one more try, probably on a Saturday.
