The Corning Glass Company is in the City of Corning, and still has its HQ here today. They maintain a great museum here that allows visitors to see the glass being made as well as the history of it all and to make a purchase or two if they would like. The museum has glass from as far back as you can imagine, they have done their homework and have a very all encompassing collection. They have a library to complement that collection and on any given day you will see students here using that library. The city has a nice commercial district, mostly made out of brink now since a fire destroyed it in the past. Its a pleasant place to walk in nice weather, and while they can get snow in winter, the rest of the year tends to be lovely here. I often come here with visitors to the WNY area. The museum is always a hit. They share their schools with the City of Painted Post, just next door.

The stairs in the balcony section are steep but I found the seats, themselves, to be quite comfortable. The sound and view from my seats were also always excellent. The ushers are very helpful and friendly as well. I can't wait to come back for another performance!

The venue made check in quick and easy which was appreciated. The theatre did feel crowded at times but we were able to navigate to our seats with no issue. Bathrooms located on upper and lower level were clean. Food and drinks were available including beer and wine. Food options were limited to candy and snack items. The sound carried well for our concert and the seats were okay. Not the most comfortable but I understand it is an older theatre. I only wish we had more room for dancing during the show, as it was a tight squeeze. The theatre has many striking features that give it a grand feeling. You can look around and see history in the design. Overall, a good experience seeing David Byrne in concert here.

I was surprised at how beautiful this museum was. The initial room was a bright room lit by a skylight. This museum is one of the only/oldest spots of early classical art, where the collection is housed in the original home, in nearly the exact original configuration, without any pieces being sold off. Gorgeous and worth the 7 dollar entry fee alone. They also have modern art and local art. Some colorful and provocative. When I was there, they also had some local Elmira artists, and some other random artifacts. Beautiful and worthwhile.

Set between the two largest Finger Lakes, Cayuga to the east and Seneca to the west. This section of the Region during the mid-1800's was and still to this day is the home of a vast farming community. The Three Bears served from around 1845 with Papa Bear (Court House), Mama Bear (Clerk's Office after 1860), Baby Bear (Clerk's Office before 1860). All three side by side with the same beautiful architecture, and stepping down in size. Truly unique and rightfully on the National Historic Preservation list. Today, they still stand (sit) proud and each showing their age. Carefully being maintained by Supporters and Volunteers. Josiah Hess Covered Bridge, Circa 1875 at 110 feet long…read more This Burr Truss bridge is located between the towns of Forks and Jonestown; the Josiah Bridge is one of the two dozen historic covered bridges in Columbia County crossing Huntington Creek. The bridge was built by Joseph Redline at a cost of $1,349. This bridge is only open for foot traffic and picnics at the tables provided.

If can see and walk around the cabin by yourself, but if you want to see the insides, you need to check in to the visitor center and get a docent to give you a tour....
