Service was excellent!! The staff was very friendly and helpful! The parking is a little hectic but the service definitely makes up for it.

I honestly wouldn't trust this place with a pair of socks, let alone expensive clothing. For the first time ever, an item of mine came back in worse condition than when I dropped it off. My dress looked as though nothing had been done to it, except that the pressing was poorly executed. The steam press lines were misaligned, and now there is a noticeable white line running through my $300 dress. The result is incredibly disappointing. I'm genuinely baffled by the positive reviews. Based on my experience, I did not receive anything close to the level of quality those reviews describe. Another frustration is that alteration services close at 3:00 PM. That's highly inconvenient for anyone who works a standard schedule and makes it difficult to access a service that many customers likely need. What concerned me even more was the working environment. When I dropped off my dress, it was close to 100 degrees and the conditions inside appeared extremely uncomfortable for the employees. I sincerely hope the staff are being provided with a safe and reasonable work environment. Overall, my experience was disappointing, and unfortunately, I cannot recommend this business based on the quality of the work I received. read more

Dropped a pair of pants to be hemmed on a Tuesday, advised they would be ready on Thursday. Went on that Thursday and I was advised it was next Thursday. Sine when does it take 10 days to complete a simple hem? If you are backlogged, take care of those so you are not inconveniencing customers. Usually very clear cut, bring your clothes and they are ready by evening if you hand them in by 9. Have been using Zips at this location for ever since that started, at least a decade. I am using them less only because for the last few years I have been working from home. Prices have gone up but still reasonable. Quality is great. I took a shirt and a pair of pants to get dry cleaned. When i picked up the shirt it had the same stain that i dropped it off with. I asked them about it and they said it was a 50/50 chance the stain could come out or not. I wish this was told to me before i paid my money because i could have took it else where. 5.16.24 The good: I brought in a gown and hood for my supervisor to be steamed at 11:30am for commencement tomorrow. I needed it today and they were able to do it as a rush for an additional $5. Each item was $3.49. I was told they would have them ready by 5pm. It was ready when I called around 3:30. Yay!! The bad: Two staff worked the register. The line was painfully slow when I came for pick up around 3:45. It took about 10 minutes. It wasn't bad when I dropped off at 10:50. If you are in a rush don't come here during peak time. read more

I had a horrible experience with the Zip Rio location in Dec '25. I brought in two brand‑new 100% cotton tops -- a Ralph Lauren cami and a top I purchased in Greece (both part of matching sets). These items had only been worn twice and had never been washed. When I picked them up, the Ralph Lauren top was noticeably faded, and the Greece top had yellow discoloration that was not present before. These items were in pristine condition when I dropped them off, and now they are unwearable. Further, they're part of matching sets and the skirts are essentially useless without the tops. It's also evident they don't even press/steam clothes. My stuff was returned slightly wrinkled. Moreover, they use safety pins on the items which creates holes. I was skeptical given the Zip prices are so cheap, but my parents told me they've had good experiences. I should have just gone to the dry cleaner I usually patronize. I've used dry cleaners for years and have never had clothing returned damaged. I will be calling to discuss this further, but I wanted to leave an honest review to warn others. read more

We all know Zipps is a chain that does dry cleaning for cheap. However, I didn't know they do alterations and tailoring. I needed one of my Northface jackets zipper thing replaced. I'm thinking an arm and a leg for this, nope $10. It took about a week, mostly because they had to order the zipper. I was a little uneasy in parting away from my jacket because it had sentimental value. The alterations and tailoring is in a small room as you enter the cleaners. Very friendly older lady, answered all my questions, and made me feel a lot better and restored my trust somewhat. My dry cleaning, was good, no complaints. It's now $2.99. They don't do one hour or anything like that, just bring your clothes asap if you need it sooner. The employees are friendly here. Which I don't get why they get low reviews. They are always welcoming and fast. There's plenty of parking, but don't park here and wonder off to Dave n Busters, they'll tow ya. read more

This my preferred dry cleaning business if I'm working in the office. I would estimate that less than 20% of my wardrobe is not meant for washing machine use. With that said I don't want to pay excessive fees to clean work/special occasion outfits. The service is fast and there is hardly a wait when I drop/pickup items during my lunch hours (weekdays). There was a recent price increase as of June 1, 2022 but that is on par with every current operating business. Recently I used the tailoring services to repair a hole in a winter jacket (puff style coat) and repair a zipper on a skirt. The old me would have tossed these items but I'm glad they were both salvageable for continued use. I only purchase regular dry clean, not laundered, starched, or special cleaning request. I have been a customer of this location of Zips for several years, and always felt like I got excellent service for my dress shirts for the money- until now. I attempted to contact management via phone to no avail to say that my shirts have come back pressed but dirty twice now. I had a set re-done- my first ever, and the shirts were still filthy around the collar, which NEVER happened since 2011. The last batch I picked up actually contained a shirt with two stains ADDED to my collar!! I was/am appalled that they were returned to me this way. I hope this was a fluke and that your quality has not diminished to this extent as it will force me to find an alternative. I would love for you to prove me wrong and make me change my rating back to what normally would be five stars. UPDATE January 13, 2022: The corporate office contacted me on the same day as my posting on Google, which was very nice. They were unable, however, after more than a week to get anyone from the local store to contact me to address my concerns. I did not request a refund, or anything that would cost them money- only reassurance that this was a fluke and I could expect quality of cleaning in the future. The local store management failed to show that they value my business, so as a matter of principle, I'll have to find an alternate provider. The week I wrote my original review (1/24/23) Gina Anderson, one of the owners at Zips, called me to share that she had already been in conversation with their 3rd party company (Mid Atlantic Leather Cleaners) who they send Uggs to for cleaning. She updated me that she had talked to the owner, and they would be issuing me a new replacement pair or reimbursing me. I ended up receiving a check from the 3rd party cleaners to cover the cost of replacing my boots. I am thankful to Gina for handling the issue appropriately and fairly! Customer service here has not gotten better and good luck trying to get management to issue a refund when your garment has not been cleaned. Honestly, all I feel the employees at Zips do is iron clothes so they get the creases just right and then hang up the clothes on their fancy mechanical, spinning hanger things. Hubby's dress pants were visibly unclean, even after the second time I pointed out the stains. Zips... the location in the Washingtonian is typically very busy during late afternoon rush hour. However, the staff is friendly and appear to be efficient and courteous. Could they be better? They have more space for their waiting line, but empty space does not pay rent. Maybe if they notified me via email or phone text as soon as my clothes were ready, but I don't know who else does that. They tell me when it will be ready and I show up, when I can afterwards. That's the deal. I've never had a problem there, but that does not mean I won't. I go there because it is cheap, advertises as ecologically safe, and does its work on-site. I don't appear to be the only one, it's a very popular location. As long as they get all my laundry back to me by the next day and there aren't any huge holes or stains because of their work. Customer Service is horrible!!! DO NOT BRING your suedes here!!! After inquiring about suede cleaning service, the employees say its a good service! So I brought in my suede pant for cleaning at $34.99 after two months management held onto my pant. It came back ruined from cleaning.! They did not apologized but told me that my pant has moth issues. Really? If it was the case you would of returned it right away with a note that it is not in good condition for cleaning. Its a LIE -a false statement to hide behind their offsite cleaner who ruined my suede pant!!! Plus where-ever my pant was stored during the two months- the storing room temperature were too warm & humid which moths and caterpillar lava got into my pant. The offsite cleaner DO NOT have the expertise in handling suedes!!! Your cleaner should NOT have touched my suede pant!!! YOU HAVE RUINED MY SUEDE PANT! We tried this ZIPS location by the RIO Gaithersburg for the first time. Since the COVID we wanted to drop off a cocktail dress and a light jacket of mine and a suit jacket and pant of my husband we wore to an event the day after (4 items) to this location. Dropping off was done at 12/15/2020 Tuesday morning, we were told to pick up 12/16/2020. When we brought it back home we just hung it all and kind of forgot about it for a while with Christmas coming up and all. Now today 12/26/2020 Saturday Im getting the hangers out of the clear plastic cover and I get a smell of my perfume... I just suspected the worse then I started sniffing all over arm pit areas of all the 3 pieces and I can smell the sweat and deodorant smell. Yes, the worst had happen they haven't even bothered to clean the items. My husbands pant suit looks clean but we only wore these cloths once so they are brand new. I was highly disappointed at ZIPS Dry Cleaners at RIO location. I should have double checked once the cloths were home. I feel it is a waste to even making a trip back to them. We have a good satisfied dry cleaning experience with the ZIPS at other locations but I'm highly dissatisfied and will not recommend this particular location to friends and family. read more

I received a call from another customer on 5/15/23 indicating that two of my dry-cleaned items were provided to her. My wife called the store on 5/16/23 at 3 pm EST and spoke with the manager J. to inquire about the issue and if my items were returned. She flippantly replied, "The husband is going to bring the items back tomorrow afternoon." My wife explained to her that we were long-time customers and this mix-up was not ok. Per J, "It was the cashier that gave him the clothes." There was no professionalism or level of accountability. When my wife asked how we could remedy the mistake, J stated I can only give you a $20 store credit. Again this is unacceptable. What if the other customer had kept our clothing? The store has the responsibility to properly check out the items and if an error did occur, they should've immediately contacted me. Neither of these things happened. I was so annoyed that I asked to speak with a manager, the obnoxious woman I was speaking to informed me she was the manager. When I asked to speak to her supervisor, she told me there was no one else in the company I could speak to. Customer Service - lacking, never enough people working the counters during peak periods, they all look miserable all the time, never a smile and come off with just give me your clothes and number attitude....next! Equipment - 'it's down' is what I always seem to hear. I think they just say that because they don't have the staff to ensure your clothes will be done on time. I have never heard this excuse so many times at one place. Parking - Just awful, a handful if spaces so during peak times your jockeying for a spot or just having to leave your car illegally parked. Only once because they don't fold, not very eco-cool....useless plastic sheets and wire hangers. I really doubt it gets re-used, re-cycled or repurposed. So sad. All these people complain... Take the time to ask the head manager questions, and you'll learn a lot. Take the emotion out of a damaged piece or lost item and you'll understand better. I have been going to the Gaithersburg location for years now. And my previous visit will be my last. Let me explain. I had brought in a limited edition Comme Des Garcon button-up flannel shirt to dry clean. Upon receiving the shirt back, I noticed the screen-printed graphic logo on the back was completely peeled off the shirt. It looked like the shirt was laundered and pressed at scorching temperatures. Cleaning directions clearly state to "dry clean and line dry." The issue here is not that the shirt is ruined; we all make mistakes, no big deal. My concern is how the manager (Valerie) dealt with the mistake. She tried to make every excuse in the book to avoid fault -- a complete lack of accountability and professionalism. The manager accused the shirt of being a "fake." Claiming her boyfriend is an expert. She then goes on by asking if I have proof of purchase and proof of authenticity. After providing both, she rambled on about your insurance claim process, finally asking me if I would be willing to accept $75 for the shirt. Mind you the shirt retails at $300 and probably over $600 on resell market. She then threatened me, insisting I take the $75. She claimed their insurance company would most likely not give any money back. Believing in the BS and really just wanting the situation over with it, I took the offer. As she was processing the claim, she then changed the offer from $75 to $50 claiming that "I" asked for the shirt to be laundered and not dry cleaned. Again, deferring the fault to me. At this point, I'm livid and asked for the shirt to go through your insurance process. I had no interest in dealing with Valerie any further. As I'm leaving the store, I asked for a reference number for my records; she reluctantly provided that to me, saying that it is under their store policy to not offer relevant information regarding the claim to the customer. I digress. Overall, this was a nightmare of a situation and even much more of a nightmare dealing with the manager. Avoid taking your cherished items at to Zips at all cost! read more
