Incredible! I've been in Cancun for a few days, but it was definitely my favorite meal thus far. If you're interested in authentic and delicious aguachiles, this is THE place to go. We ordered a little bit of everything, and EVERYTHING was delicious. My absolute favorites were their Sunny Octopus (the sauce was soooo good) and the aguachiles (mixed) with the green sauce. Incredible! I'll be thinking of that aguachiles way after this vacation. We came in with a huge group, but the servers were so friendly and they were very helpful. They even served the dads in our group with a complementary Father's Day gift! Overall an excellent experience with incredibly fair prices and even better food. I hope everyone who visits Playa del Carmen will get to try it out!

Elotes. So good!

We loved it so much we ate here twice. Great tacos and roasted elotes. Fair price and great service.

Fish and shrimp tacos were just delicious. Even the margarita was great. Service ambience everything on point. Great place to try out in playa!!

Whenever I am in PDC I always stop at one of my favorite spots. It doesn't matter how long I'm away fro PDC. Every time I come. The food, the service and the ambiance is simply amazing. Royal treatment at its best. You will not go wrong with this restaurant. Their food is reasonably priced and is so so good. Definitely make this a must go when in PDC. I HIGHLY recommend! Thanks again

Mixed ceviche (octopus, fish, shrimp).

This place is aimed specifically at tourists and it is overpriced. The ambiance is nice but the food lacks authenticity. Their menu is online and every table has the QR code for the menu and the password to their WiFi. Our server highly recommended the TikiTiki Tuna. We ordered that and the Mixed Ceviche. The tuna was not good, it tasted canned. The menu shows a picture of tuna in square chunks (falsely advertised). We pointed this out to our server and she tried to imply that we weren't looking right, my husband zoomed in on the picture (see pictures posted) and then she backtracked saying it's the same thing, just mashed. We had two bites and left it. Disgusting. The mixed ceviche was delicious. We won't be back and I don't recommend wasting your time visiting this place.

WOW!!! Bomb food and amazing service!!! I love shrimp and it's been awhile since I had really good shrimp. The camarones los cachondos satisfied my shrimp cravings. The way the shrimps were grilled was perfect..then with some added chili oil for a kick of spice, delicious! I wish I had a whole bucket of the camarones los cachondos to munch on! The tiradito el frescolin plate was phenomenal! HUGE! You can get a half order but I got a full order for myself. The plate has cooked shrimp, aguachile shrimp, tuna, and some type of pork. All good and very fresh. I got a liter of a passion fruit mojito to go with my dinner. If you get a glass of mojito it's 90 MXN (~$5) if you get a liter of mojito it's 185 MXN (~$10) I thought the liter was way more worth it so I just got the liter. So yummy and full of alcohol!

Very unassuming spot, but the food is excellent!! Service was also super friendly. The seafood is fresh and full of flavor, and the drinks hit the spot. We came the Monday after Christmas and they did close around 9p, so check the times because it wasn't clear if that was normal or holiday hours.

The seafood here is one of the best in PDC. Fresh, high quality and well prepared. Favorites: Camarones Ceviche Pescado Pulpo Aguachile All were prepared right and flavorful with the right spicy kick. It's worth the trip to Playa del Carmen. Do not miss this place.

Best seafood in Playa. So good we had lunch and later that night went back for dinner. For lunch my husband had the Agua Chile with shrimp and I had Hugo's rice. The serving size was good and they loaded it with lots of seafood. I wish I would had remembered to take pictures of the amazing food. To drink we both got the passion fruit mijito. Such a great drink and made with fresh fruit with plenty of alcohol. I did have lots of seeds but the flavor made up for it. For dinner my husband and I started with the horny shrimp and calamari. Those were loaded with flavor and wish we had seconds. The calamari was cooked like tempura with a very unique sauce on the top. We followed up with more of the Hugo's rice which was so buttery and plenty garlic it was to die for. Still had plenty of squid, octopus and shrimp. To drink we had more of those passion fruit mijito to drink for dinner.

I couldn't even be bothered to take off my purse. I was so excited to eat this food.

Dear majority of Cancún tourists. First and foremost, please, for the love of God, wear sunblock. There is a lot of rock lobster happening on these streets. Second, why are you eating at these average restaurants with avocado and tuna tartare. Maybe I'm being very entitled, but can't you get that at home? All you have to do is walk 5 to 10 minutes off of the main strip of Playa and there is literally a plethora of delicious Mexican restaurants. So you won't pass this restaurant in route to Victoria Secrets or Ray-Ban. You have to know it's here. And I don't understand why it wasn't crowded with a line wrapped around the street. This was our best meal in Playa. We had to have the elote, because it's Mexico. It was a little sweeter than I like, but still delicious. We had the mixed Aguachiles in the green sauce, which was out of this world, divine, slap a fish in the face... good. And when I asked what their most popular dish was, in Spanish, no less, I was told it was the grilled shrimp. My daughter and I acted like we had been marooned on a deserted island and hadn't eaten solid food in a month. We devoured the shrimp and even brokered the last two. Her father would not as fared so well in this deal. But these damn kids, we are stupid for them. You have to peel and eat them which is a bummer but they are insanely good. You can tell they're fresh. Yum, yum, swim your divine little bottom feeding selves into my belly. And as a bonus, which has nothing to do with the food but with the atmosphere, there's a little rotisserie place across the street, which is very lively, and you can hear people singing in Spanish, and it's all very joyous and festive. You would be like those sizzled little marshmallows, walking the streets if you don't break off from those basic restaurants on the strip, and find your way to culinary champions like this place.

SHEEEEESH! This place is the BOMB! An absolute must if you're needing seafood in Playa and a nice cold litro of passion fruit margarita! I ordered the fish ceviche and pulpo asoleado (grilled octopus) and both plates were phenomenal. The sauce on the octopus added tons of flavor. The service was fast and overall, I would come back to this establishment when I come back to Playa again. I just wished I knew about Los Aguachiles when I first got to Playa!

Shrimp tacos

This place has a cool outdoor seating setup. I ordered their fried shrimp and their fried fish tacos. The tortillas were soft and chewy while presenting their corn flavor. The seafood was all fresh, crispy, and plentiful in portion. The cabbage and fried strands atop the taco add welcome complexity as do the various mayo-based sauces they lay out for you.

Finally...excellent food! We stayed at a resort in Cancun but travelled to Excaret for the day. We opted not to eat there because the buffet price was steep and we wanted actual GOOD food after a week at the resort (Wyndham Altra) where the food was just GRUB and included. Besides our venture into Tulum where we got Taqueria Honoria, which is also excellent, we haven't had anything really good. Well...along with the help of Yelp we found this spot 5 miles from Xcaret. The food looked so good and after reading review enroute, we knew what we wanted-2 orders of the "sunny" octopus; 1 fish crackling; 1 Hugo's rice; 2 Carnivore burgers (for the kids); and (3) shrimp and fish tacos. The sunny octopus was served on a bed of white rice with a sauce atop the octopus and it was delectable and I'm glad I knew well enough to order my own! The Hugo's rice was enough for 3-4 adults and it was delicious...think fried rice, it filled with shrimp, and octopus and calamari and bean sprouts. This was served piping hot and so so good! By the time I got to the fish cracking, I was so full but didn't want to waste..so I dipped some crispy fillets into the green chili lime sauce and it was just so good. They serve these two large fried portions with tortillas and red onion, should you decide to make tacos, as well as a small of refried beans and rice. The kids had a "carnivore burger" which came with bacon, red onion, lettuce and tomatoes as well as fries. We all got sodas and topo chicos to drink. They said it was really good and that it was also the best meal they had here. Everything was presented really well and I just cannot say enough good things about this place. I wish I had more time just to try some more dishes here. The entire bill ended up being like $140 usd and it was well worth it. The staff was also excellent, and very friendly

Overpriced seafood. Just a couple of dishes and drinks for 50 bucks. Other seafood places around the area are definitely cheaper and better.

Great experience last Friday night at this Michinlin Bib restaurant. So glad I stopped by this…read moreplace is bomb and super not pretentious! Wish I got the tasting menu but I opted for 3 of the specialties instead and they were delicious... Tasting menu is best value tho! I got the raw trout sashimi thing and it was by far the best plate of the meal (first dish/appetizer) , then got the shrimp flautas (good not amazing) then I got the trout loin for the entree (good not amazing) Skinny marg was perfect and so was the waitress! Would recommend and go back but like I said I would for sure do with the 6 or 8 course tasting menu!

Okay, where do I start…read more I made a reservation about a month before our trip, they were already pretty booked so I made a 4:45pm. I somehow missed that the coursed meal doesn't start until 6...and we didn't realize until same day. They couldn't rebook us until 9PM but told us to swing by early to see if they could get us in AND THEY DID. It was a Christmas miracle. And I'm glad they did because the whole experience was about 2.5 hours from start to finish. The place isn't very big, but is beautiful inside. They have an awesome bar and and open kitchen so you can see everything. It's a really neat place. We were seated pretty quick once they got the table cleaned, and then were greeted by our waitress. When we told her we were there for the 8 course meal, they switched waiters on us, and then the upselling started. Right off the bat they tried to talk us into a cocktail...when we were doing a pairing with our meal. It took them a little time to get the meal going, and then between courses was a little hit or miss. Sometimes it was free flowing and sometimes it took 10-15 minutes to get our next dish. The food. We were a little nervous we would leave still a little hungry but I assure you, you will not. For ~$100USD each, you get so much food, and a drink with every course. It was fantastic and so worth it. Here were the courses and pairings (that I can remember lol): 1. We started with the dips - a bean dip with cheese sauce and guacamole with crickets. Very classic, very well done. The crickets added a nice, nutty flavor. I was a huge fan of the beans with their blue corn tostadas, so much flavor. They also had a third dip that was pumpkin seed based, it was good but not as memorable. Their hot sauces came out with this course. It was paired with a house mezcal (with salts, cucumber, and orange) that was incredible and smooth. 2. Shrimp ceviche which was super refreshing and flavorful. They paired this with sparkling wine. 3. Sea bass with a cream sauce and grapefruit. I'm not a huge fishy flavor person - my first bite had all three compnents and I thought it was delicious. My husband just had fish as his first bite and thought it a little fishy, but once we added everything else he agreed it was great. Three small pieces, so it was a nice course. Paired with a sauv blanc. 4. Roasted tomatoes in a mole sauce. A nice veggie course. I thought they were cooked well, nothing super fancy. Paired with a Chardonnay. 5. Cooked shrimp with potatoes. My husband called this a "filler" course - there wasn't much to it. The sauce had some greens in it but it was just something light and easy to serve. Can't remember the pairing here. 6. THE CARROTS. MY FAV THING. OMG. Literally so fresh, the perfect texture, and the sauces. I could have eated a whole bowl with this one. Paired it with a red blend. 7. Cow tongue. I forgot a photo. I was starting to get drunk, I'm sorry. Paired with a red wine. This was tender, the sauce was delicious. If you're not used to beef tongue, please don't let it scare you. It was amazing. 8. Dessert. Also amazing. I think it was paired with a sweet red but....a little drunk here...we got a cheesecake which was more on the savory side, super unique, and so delicious. I was a huge fan. We also got a passion fruit custard and I'm a SUCKER for passion fruit. This was phenomenal. The food was INCREDIBLE. And such an amazing experience. And now the loss of a star. I hit on the service a little, but there was also some upselling which we don't love, especially at what is supposed to be michelin recognized. We often try Michelin recognized when we travel and the upselling was unexpected, I undertsand the culture down here, but still. ALSO we LOVED the house mezcal so much we asked for another shot ($280 pesos/shot). When we got the bill, the waiter upcharged to one of the most expensive mezcals on their menu ($520 pesos/shot) and refused to change it. We spent $60 on two shots after paying for our 8-course meal. It honestly was SUCH a dissapointing end to our meal and felt so icky. Be very careful with the service here.

It helped that it was pouring rain and most of the restaurant was under cover, unlike a lot of spots, so it was perfect. We were seated quickly and helped shortly after. Service was...interesting. Felt like we had the hardest experience with communication here, which is fine, as Americans that is our fault. Things like they have a porn star martini ( my fav) as a mocktail so I asked if it was possible to add a shot of vodka. They initially recommended the espresso martini which I did not want so I was just opting for water and he pushed the original option on me then charged be $20 for it, which was insane. They also pushed sales hard here, it felt a little off...like we just wanted to enjoy a meal and at the end we're hounded to try their mezcals. BUT food came quick and effeciently so no major complaints there, just be aware. As for the food, it was incredible. Again with the communication, we pointed and asked for the beet carpaccio....they brought out beef carpaccio WHICH thankfully we both eat meat because honestly, it was freaking incredible. We didn't even say anything about the mix up because it was a highlight. They brought it out under a glass smoker, it had a cream sauce, and rosemary, lime, cheese, it was just perfect. We also had the corn which was super unique, the tuna appetizer which had SO MUCH FLAVOR, and the fundito which was on par with everywhere else in the area. It ended up being more food than we planned but it was incredible in flavor, whoever the cook is does a great job of marrying flavors because it was an incredible meal. Be ready for the communication gap, but know you won't eat anything bad here.

We also tried the charred octopus, and this one was a bit of a miss for us. It leaned more on the soft side and felt slightly overcooked. We were hoping for more of that tender-with-a-slight-char texture contrast. You can never go wrong with French fries crispy, well-seasoned, and perfect for the table. For dessert, we got the chocolate cake, and wow !! the slice was huge. Definitely shareable. It was rich, moist, and indulgent. We couldn't even finish it, which says a lot because we tried.
