Three of us booked massages with three different therapists. When you walk in, it smells like chlorine (from the indoor pool down the hall, and sweaty feet. You'd think at least one of us would luck out, right? Nope. We all walked out looking at each other like: "Was that the worst massage you've ever recieved?" My therapist's "technique" was basically a housecat tiptoeing across my back. Zero pressure. Negative pressure. I left tenser than when I came in. At one point, she almost put me in a UFC chokehold while "massaging" my neck. Nothing says "relaxation" like fearing for your airway. The grand finale? She rubbed my feet (okay...) and then--without missing a beat--went straight to massaging my FACE. I'm sorry, what?! All three of us agreed: hands down the worst massage we've ever had. Ever. I wouldn't recommend this spa to my worst enemy, unless that enemy deserved an afternoon of confusion, discomfort, and lingering regret. Final verdict: Stay far, FAR away. Book literally anywhere else. Heck, let your toddler walk on your back--it'll be more effective, and definitely less weird.

I proceeded to ask if I could purchase a gift card for my wife to make an appointment when it was convenient for her. They proceeded to say that the spa is not open to the public and only for resort guests or members???? Strange I thought.... We have been to Vegas, Orlando, Miami, Hawaii, etc. and my wife has made reservations at spas for hotels that we are not staying at like Four Seasons, Waldorf and other high end hotels that had nicer spas. Makes no sense why the Hammock would not be open to the public.... But based on some of the reviews maybe they did me a favor and I will just give money for my wife to make a reservation at one of the nicer resorts while on vacation.

While the resort property is beautiful and presents a variety of entertaining family experiences,…read morethe Lodge rooms are lacking adequate "lighting." Not one lamp in the rooms is as bright as it needs to be. And, there needs to be a floor lamp with "reading brightness" beside the one lounge chair in the room. NOT having a bathroom fav is unheard of at a resort. Each of these items, lack of adequate room lighting, and lack of bathroom fan, drops the rating one star. For the comfort of my family, I rate this a 3-star hotel. Hammock Beach Resort does not offer "resort-worthy" rooms in the Lodge. The beach is beautiful. Room views are lovely. Rainbows after brief showers are always magical. The Atlantic Grill located in the Lodge was superb--Patrick was our waiter and he was great! Kendall helped us with our luggage both at arrival and departure--he was "our guy"--such a big help and so kind to these "old folks!" for what it's worth, this is my 2 cents!

From the outset, the resort was misleading about what we were purchasing. We booked what was clearly represented as a golf package. Upon arrival, we were told we did not have access to golf that day. Golf was a primary reason we selected this resort. Clear, accurate representation of packages is not optional at this price point. When a resort markets itself as a premier golf destination, transparency matters. The accommodations did not reflect the luxury image presented online. The villa was outdated and worn, amenities did not function properly (including a broken coffee maker), and we experienced repeated unnecessary disturbances from staff knocking and ringing the doorbell. The condition and service level were inconsistent with what was advertised. Even more troubling was the professionalism of a golf manager during our stay. This individual winked at my minor son in a way that was inappropriate and made both of us uncomfortable. Regardless of intent, that type of interaction with a child is unacceptable in a professional hospitality setting. When I calmly raised concerns about the golf package confusion, the condition of the villa, and the overall experience, management responded with deflection rather than accountability. I was even told I should have given advance notice regarding my son's disability and booked a "disability room." That comment demonstrates a serious lack of training in guest relations and ADA awareness. This is not about minor inconveniences. It is about misleading representations, unprofessional conduct, inadequate accommodations, and a failure of leadership to take responsibility when legitimate concerns are raised. At this price level, guests should not have to push repeatedly to be heard. Transparency, professionalism, and respect -- especially toward families and minors -- should be baseline standards. Corporate leadership should take a close look at how packages are marketed, how villas are maintained, and how staff are trained. What we experienced fell significantly short of what is promised.

It certainly helps the time fly by when you are trying to get as many calories burned as possible! 2 - The aerobics room in the back has grea classes scheduled and when there are none I like to use it for stretching, yoga, core work, etc. 3 - The 2 pools are gorgeous and so clean! 4 - The tennis courts are gorgeous and fun to play in. 5 - EVERYTHING IS SPOTLESS! SO CLEAN! This is rare with fitness centers. 6 - Scheduling a massage, facial, or nail service takes one second. 7 - The staff is the BEST! They are so friendly and helpful. 8 - The locker rooms, sauna and steam room are so luxurious! This place is as good as it gets. You want luxury, then move to Plantation Bay and join the fitness center - it'll be your best decision yet!

We have decided not to renew our fitness membership with Plantation Bay for the coming year for the…read morefollowing reasons: 1) We discovered that Fitness One on Old Kings Rd charges about half the price of the Plantation Bay membership and is only a few miles further drive than plantation Bay's facility after you leave the property. Fitness one is a much larger fitness center with a lot more equipment and has a locker room that is many times larger than the size of the one at Plantation Bay. At Plantation Bay if you have more than one or two individuals in the men's or women's locker room it is uncomfortably crowded and there are only a few showers there as compared to a lot more showers, restrooms and cleanup facilities available at Fitness One. Fitness One has an indoor heated lap pool whereas at Plantation Bay it is often too cold or unsuitable weather conditions to use the outdoor pool. There are far more aerobic and strength training machines at Fitness One. Fitness One does not charge extra for classes where Plantation Bay does. Fitness One has an outdoor walking path along a very scenic nature trail which is right behind the facility. 2) Fitness One naturally does not have an additional food minimum charge or other additional charges for use of the facility as Plantation Bay does. I have never understood why you have to buy more food at the Club restaurant to be a member of the fitness center at Plantation Bay. 3) We have had issues and concerns with our use of the Plantation Bay facility that we do not feel were adequately addressed or resolved. In one case the fitness center aerobics room was used to hold a lengthy golf meeting which we were told was an emergency when it was a pleasant spring day where that meeting could have been held outside or in any other number of locations. We are not golf members and our use of the gym of which we are paying members should not have be denied our use for another activity of which we are not members. I am sure we will not have this problem at Fitness One. Also, we have noticed a tendency for members in the Plantation Bay facility to tie up workout stations, sometimes stretching on them or sitting at them to have conversation with other club members, or doing aerobic exercises in the area designated for use of barbells and other strength training on the benches that are there for weight workouts. We have never seen the staff ask members to share the equipment when this occurs and the staff is also allowed to do their workouts in the gym which does not always occur at low use times. In fact I once observed three ellipticals being used simultaneously by staff members when the gym was crowded. There were many other issues that occurred which I don't have time or space to discuss on this site but would be glad to share with anyone who may have questions. 4) The parking lot for the fitness center has in the past not had working cameras and at least one member I know whose car had been hit there could not get help on identifying who had damaged his vehicle. I guess to sum it up, and what I have mentioned here has only been a small sample of our experiences over the past 6 years, is that the Plantation Bay facility costs twice the price for far less than half the facilities provided at Fitness One and other fitness establishments, and in our opinion it seems that the staff does not run a very tight ship, particularly for a gym that is charging as much as they are for annual dues. Lastly I would like to say that the staff that greets you at the entrance to the facility and who keep it clean and tidy, etc, are definitely some of the nicest people that I have met anywhere in my entire life, and if not for them, we would probably have quit the gym a long time ago. When we were recently asked by the management as to why we were ending our membership, I provided a very thorough explanation and, as in the past, received no response to my input.

Everything is made to order and the spreads are always incredible. One of the best perks about the Inn! It's romantic and relaxing all rolled into one vacation. The customer service from each lady at the Inn is outstanding. They truly care about your vacation and constantly check in to make sure you're more than happy with your stay. Heather even made hot tea for my husband one day and brought it out to him by the pool. So kind. Our air conditioner had an issue one night and we were promptly given a key to another room where we could sleep for the night. Heather had maintenance out the next morning and the issue was taken care of quickly. We have stayed in the Flamingo room and the Serenity room all times we've been here. These are the only two rooms located in the spa building and the heated mineral pool is right outside their doors. We love The White Orchid Inn and Spa and already look forward to the day when we return. The ladies really made our trip special this time around and we are grateful for that. Thank you Heather and team!
