Went to the location on maple with my family. Beautiful clean space. Completely empty when we visited on a Saturday. The people who were working were not friendly or welcoming. I ended up getting pumpkin danish that was dry hard bread with a pretty good filling. Could use more crumble and pecans. I had been going to the location in the market at st Claude several times. Yummy snacks. Crescent cookies and bread pudding. My daughter loves the muffins. After visiting the maple location I probably won't be frequenting as much. read more

They made my wedding cake which was actually really good back in 2023. Not sure what has happened since then but the cakes taste dry and they can't decorate a cake to save their lives. My husband ordered me a chocolate cake for my bday and it tasted like I put a spoonful of cocoa powder in my mouth. I then ordered a custom birthday cake and reached out a month in advance making sure they could do the design since it was a very special cake. They assured me they could and I provided them many photos for examples. I was in shock when I saw it. They said they couldn't fix it and gave me half off. I bought a birthday cake for my husband's 50th birthday. Ordered a coconut cake. Got a white with buttercream frosting and toasted coconut shreds. So it wasn't really a coconut cake which would have been fine if that's all that was wrong but the cake was SO DRY that we ended up throwing more than half of it away. It was $57. I was beyond disappointed and will never use this bakery again. I wished I would have just purchased a cake from Sam's Club. read more

Ok. They are new here in this location. I'll give them a chance. Have stopped in twice. Their stuff is beautiful, without doubt. Of the 3 things I've tasted the pastries are fine, but so far not 'amazing.' My concern is customer service. They are not busy yet- so what does it take for the one clerk to pop out from behind the case and wipe the tables, 3 of 4 being filled with crumbs. (After serving us she retreated to the back and her phone). Or to know a little bit more about the items they have and be a bit warmer and chatty. Or to have napkins on the tables. I came in here in hopes of a quick treat and coffee and found that the bakery had a good selection to offer. I opted for a butter croissant and an apple tartlet to take for the next day's tea time snack. Both were delicious and I am glad I stopped in. Unfortunately they do not offer coffee, buttered rolls or any of the nice counter items you would expect from a small bakery. I took off the one star because I still had to drive through at Dunking Donuts to pick up a coffee on my way home. It seems like the majority of their business is larger/event cakes. Unfortunately this loses a big customer base as people are not looking to purchase these items every day. Also, this place could greatly benefit from some lively music a little bit more color and a greeter. EXCELLENT PRESENTATION! Loved until first bite. Presentation means nothing if the customer isn't satisfied with the overall taste profile. If I voice a complaint on taste the rebuttal shouldn't be a judgement on the diversity of my palate. I requested a very common flavor profile (white/buttercream) and they failed at that. The chef combatted me with an arrogance of superiority, as if he's the standard of taste. Not a every customer is a novice to the world of pastry. I have enough experience to recognize homemade vs high fructose enhanced buttercream. I was offered a discounted cake upon my return but after this incident as a first time customer, it's highly unlikely I will return. I really want to support local bakeries. I always love a good piece of cake! Parking lot was empty so i thought Perfect! It gravel road which if you drive a lower car, you worry about your car getting damaged! I managed to maneuver to a decent spot. Place looks cute on the outside but inside looks unkept. I walked in and the person in front was on the phone with another customer. She nodded her head at me and continued her conversation on the phone. I figured she would get to me after she gets off the phone... no big deal. I check the place out but not much to really choose from. I looked for their most popular item which was the Strawberry Shortcake. I love SS! I waited and waited. The lady finished her call and walked off...i patiently waiting for a few more minutes....someone finally helped me. I asked for the SS! I was super excited. I even asked for a fork! When i went to pay...this piece of cake was almost $6! I couldn't believe it! I thought...well gourmet...probably worth it! I was wrong! It was the most disgusting cake I've had. It looks moist but it crumbled and was completely dry! I could barely swallow it even scooping up extra frosting. It crumbled like a powder. I've been meaning to write a review for Zoe's Bakery, but never had the time or even remember to do so. My wife and I were looking for a place to have our cake made for our wedding day (which is almost a year now) and Zoe's gave us the best options and flavors to choose from. We were able to choose different flavors for different tiers without any hassle. Chef Shane was very patient and thorough with what me and my wife wanted for our cake. He made us feel comfortable with everything we asked for and made sure his sketch matched our liking. Our visits has been pretty much hassle free as we came in to discuss about our wedding cake instead of communicating over the phone or internet. Of course, we wanted everything to be just right without any mistakes for our wedding, so we could not risk just communicating via the internet. We also took into consideration of their hours of operation as they seem to stay consistently busy during the day. After finalizing and ordering what we wanted, we were stress free from cake decisions with chef Shane assuring that everything will be ready and delivered for our wedding date. Our cake could not come out any better than it did when we saw it! We were in awe and relieved that there were no incidents involved with our cake as we had it hanging instead of placed on a table. We had many people asked where we had purchased our cake from and with amazement, asked to have more slices as we had different flavors inside! Overall, we would like to give our sincere thanks to chef Shane and other associated chefs who have assembled our cake together for our special day. Was told that a complimentary smash cake would be included along with my baby's 1st birthday cake! We did not get the smash cake after speaking with Ashley the manager she was extremely rude and hung up in my face after I told her I do not want a $20 gift card because I would never use Zoe's bakery again! The first thing we noticed was the workers and customers were not following the mask procedures required in Louisiana (during the pandemic). They had a lot of good looking things! My husband and I got a slice of mousse cake and a mini sour cherry tart to go. Neither was great. The cherry one was too dense and didn't have much flavor. The mousse cake was dry and overly sweet. If you like dry King Cake where the filling is baked inside of the cake, then this is the place for you. You better buy a gallon of milk for each piece you eat. When attempted to return just 30 minutes after buying it, and only a small piece removed, the staff was extremely rude and the manager refused to come and speak to me. So once again, if you like dry king cakes and like to be treated rudely then I highly recommend. Do yourself a favor and drive a little further to Butter Krisp, you get a much better product as well as friendly service. Had high hopes since this is a bakery, what a let down. Zoe's didn't even blink when we asked them to make us a cake shaped like a brain and filled with raspberry (so that it would ooze when we cut into it, of course). They pulled it off beautifully AND it was delicious! Zoe's made our three-tiered wedding cake, too, which was both gorgeous and scrumptious. Before the wedding, they invited us out to Covington to try all their tasty cake flavors and then let me design the entire cake, accommodating my random requests for fresh figs, raspberries, strawberries, red grapes, and even two little fake birds. On the Big Day, they safely delivered the cakes to the French Quarter, where they were photographed thoroughly and then promptly devoured by our wedding guests. Fantastic! My cousin consistently used Zoe's for any & all events. You would think a local business would treat their customers AND returning customers with more respect & empathy. I trusted a local bakery with the most important cake of my life to date and they canceled without one oz of regret or sympathy for the fact that they left a bride high and dry two weeks before the big day. my fiancé and I weren't even thrilled with the taste of the cake but felt like we owed them loyalty for always being our bakery so decided to use them for our wedding cakes anyway. We used Zoe's Bakery for our wedding cake last year. We picked them because we really liked the baker, Shane, who came out and met with us to pick out the design. He was very personable and gave us a good price because what we wanted was very simple. We picked a 3-tier wedding cake with 2 flavors and a small groom's cake that we wanted just for us. We decided on the almond Amaretto which was excellent and the chocolate ganache which was just ok. For the grooms cake it was suppose to be red velvet but we ended up with carrot cake somehow. We selected Zoe's almost 6 months before our wedding, so we had plenty of time to make adjustments and final decisions. We also went there to buy multiple king cakes and birthday cakes prior to the wedding. The day after the wedding we went to finally have our cake and discovered it was carrot cake and not red velvet. I called the bakery and spoke with some snarky young woman who advised that we picked carrot cake. I advised her that we did not, we originally did but I had changed it in person with Shane when I was there in the spring (5 months before our wedding) to pick up a birthday cake I had ordered. I even had the staff check the file two days before the wedding when I came to drop off the final payment. Not only did I provide dates and times but even described who I spoke with each time. The snarky young lady then stated she found only one paper in my file and it stated carrot cake in my husband's handwriting so therefore it was not their fault. My husband was only with me for the initial taste testing and design selection, and never wrote anything out. We have never been back since. It should be noted I kept very detailed records while planning the wedding down to the checks, dates, times, and who I spoke with when deciding on details. I filed them all in an excel spreadsheet to track vendors and payments. The venue director stated I was the most organized bride she had ever worked with. I have an issue when some inexperienced store clerk is rude and blames me for their mistake instead of just saying "we are really sorry how, about we replace it or refund just the small cake and get you something else." That is what they should have done. I had physical proof of what was ordered. I asked to speak with Shane, the owner, but he was conveniently out. Also, the reason we did not do the carrot cake is because it was not very good when we tried it compared to the red velvet which we had tasted and ordered before. Needless to say, they lost our business. If you are looking for a good cake or pastry, I found out Fresh Market, much to my surprise, has the best bakery in the area for everyday items and I also hear Coco Beans is good as well but cannot verify as I have not personally tried it. read more
