I shoulda checked it but as soon as I saw the top bill, I place the money in my wallet and forgot about it until Friday. Noticed on Friday 7 Mar when I tried to deposit money in my bank's ATM That's when I took the bill and went back to speak to the manager CJ. He said we check all bills during all transactions - that's weird, the Sunday I picked up my offer the employee that paid me did everything autonomously. CJ also took down my cell number and said he had to contact his general manager and get back to me. This was Friday 7 Mar 24. He said he would do some investigating and call me back on Saturday 8 Mar 25. Then he said we'll make it right with either money or something. Here it is 17 Mar a week later and still no call. I stopped by the store to ask and it was like deer in the headlights. I gave them a chance to make it right. It's been over a month. I stopped back by the store at least 3 times to speak with CJ and he's never there! I Go figure! I've left my number again and again for him to call me and I get nothing. Don't go to this store, it's a scam and I hope it closes! One bad apple spoils the whole dam bunch. If you had this happened to you, please post! I want to expose this injustice. It probably happened to more people the just me! I should've have checked the bills and called the police. If I could give a negative star rating, I would!

Bought a backbone for a phone on Christmas Eve. Ask attendent if this was for a android he said yes…read moreeven asked if he was sure he said yes. Gave this as a gift to someone and found out it was for an I phone. Called and went back to exchange. I lost the receipt but I paid with a card, asked if they could exchange or refund the money back to the card I purchased it with. Jay said he could not. Called again and read them their return policy and I could see it was at his discretion so they were choosing to keep the money and not give the money back. I think this is fraud when you know you can track that item in your store and see that it was paid for and when you sell someone an item knowing it's not the right item. The least they could do is take the item back an give you store credit or a gift card for the price. I was really disappointed by the unwillingness of the manager Jay to even try to help. I will say this was a surprise.

Most importantly the staff is not too pushy about making you do pre orders or buying used. I know that's the business model but it gets really annoying and awkward having to say no thank you 5 times in sixty seconds. I have bought several figures, games, and consoles from here. No complaints here :) Fun fact: I actually competed here in the official tournament for smash bros when it released on the 3ds a couple years ago. It was fun, well run, and I just wish there was another one when it released on the switch.

I loved Player's Choice. It was the quintessential local video game store. Not a big box chain…read more Just owned and operated by guys who lived in the Triad and shared in the passion of video games and, to a lesser extent, anime and that kind of stuff. Player's Choice was ahead of its time and I'm not sure the City of High Point's population/economy was big nor "advanced" enough to sustain it. I think a store like Player's Choice was better-suited for bigger cities and metropolitan areas with larger gaming communities that had more disposable income. New and rare video games, consoles, and anime weren't cheap! Gaming can be an expensive hobby. I visited this Player's Choice store in High Point multiple times in the late 90s. My mom used to drive me over 30 minutes just to get to the flagship store in Winston-Salem on Robinhood Road: https://www.yelp.com/biz/game-on-winston-salem. However, around the time this location opened, circa 1998, I was old enough to drive. I'd either come here by myself or bring my friends. As high schoolers, we couldn't afford much here, but it was still fun to visit and browse. This location was only five minutes from our house so needless to say, I was very happy it opened. Player's Choice had game rental plans well before services like GameFly. I got some great deals on used anime OVAs on VHS. Even in the late 90s, I could tell this store was struggling. During my visits, business in the store couldn't compare to the business I saw at the Robinhood location. Across the country, video game shops like this have been closing in droves because the demand for physical media isn't what it used to be. The Robinhood store, which eventually changed its name to Game On, officially closed on January 4, 2020. This used to be the Staples shopping center, but Harbor Freight is now the anchor in Staples' old space. And today, a Boost Mobile store is where Player's Choice used to be. Thanks for the memories, Player's Choice of High Point. Gone, but never forgotten.
